  1. You should receive 3 letters from the VA . They should say "The official records of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) disclose that (your name) is entitled to receive service connected compensation at the 100% rate effective date_________________. The evaluation is permanent with no future examinations scheduled. This letter is furnished for assistance in establishing entitlement to benefits in the state of Okla. Our records indicate the Vets SS# Is:------------." end of quote. I had to call my VSO office to get the letter. Have you applied for the sales tax exemption? Even that might help. Go back and see if you can get a different person in the accessors office. I got mine in Craig county with no problems in March.
  2. I got my card that allows me to pay no excise tax when purchasing a new vehicle, once every three years. I also allows me to purchase a vehicle tag for the sum of $5.00.. I buy 2 state tags now and they didn't come cheap before. Just another perk for the 100% tdiu I was awarded. Also save about $500.00 per year in property taxes. And a sales tax exemption for Oklahoma.
  3. They have sent it twice to me. Early december on A/A. Feb 28 this year on special adaptive housing which at one time in Oct of last year! E-benefits said was decided and appeal was possible. Go figure. I hope it means a quicker decision on last claim that I have working.
  4. Just the tax ememption and I didn't think to ask if it was good in other locations. But I will on my next trip there. I got the TDIU, P/T with no future exams. But still shows me as 70% on e-benefits. But I got the bucks and that is what matters.
  5. I faxed my letter explaining disability to my Tax commission and received it the next day. Signed up for personal property tax exemption also. So I have my 100% disability tax exemption and presented it to Wal-Mart but had to fill out a form for their tax exempt card, took about 30 minutes but saved $40.00 at the register.
  6. My e-beanefits sys they are missing three doctors reports. I had sent them copies of the reports with C-File stamped on them, they were returned to me and advised records in E-File but still say not received now. This was some time back, 6 months or longer. Just sent 1st page again with c-file stamp, so not paying too much attention to them now.
  7. On a new claim I have in for A&A, I received this message: We appologize that claim is past due! We recognize your claim has exceeded the estimated completion date, and we remain committed to complete our review as quickly and accurately as possible. Thanks for your patience.
  8. In my recent award for TDIU and SMC for loss of use of creative organ.........This statement was also noted: Examination for housebound status or permanent need for regular aid and attendance showed disabilities of Copd, cervical spine and lumbar spine spondylosis restrict activities. You use a walker for ambulation. OK copd and cervical spine are Not serviced connected. Va provider and social worker both claim need for aid and attendance and in fact had VA provided home care worker while wife was down with cervical problems. VA provided c/p exam on 11/19/12.. Vet required use of aid at all times to ambulate, ability to self feed: some difficulty: ability to dress and undress: some difficulty, ability to self bathe; marked difficulty, self groom some difficulty, toileting marked difficulty. Vet unable to walk without aid of another person. Circumstances vet can leave home: Medical care only.YES fuctional Impairments are permanent. During the examination the Veteran required help top take off and put socks back on, Wife had to help get his undershorts and jeans back on and buttoned. Can Veteran travel beyond current domicile? NO The aid and attendance was considered a new claim and they are still working on it and 2 more conditions. Should the senior RO have made a decision on this or will it follow its own course.
  9. Thanks to everyone who kept prodding me to never quit. It did pay off. God bless everyone on this site. Don
  10. Got the white envelope today. Awarded TDIU and ED. Total service connected disability, permanent in nature from April 39, 2010. Since I am over 70 now I don't think I'm elgible for the insurance. So I won't be disagreeing with this. Thank goodness and no more nod's.
  11. My AB3 states compensation at 100% due to service connected disabilities. This total disability is considered permanent. Not scheduled for future examinations. I received a tidy sum in my bank account today, but still waiting on the official notice from VA on specifics. So I still don't have the brown envelope but the money is better anyway. (ha-Ha)
  12. Congratulations>>>>>>>>same thing happened to me today, but no money in bank or the official notification.
  13. John your SSD will remain in effect until you reach 65+ those few months over. Then it becomes regular SS payment with no loss of money at regular retirement age. The SSD gave me an extra 4+ years of the higher amount instead of age 62 retirement. If wife isn't filing for SSD then take the age 62 retirement and run with it.
  14. Went to E-beenies tonight. Effective Dec 1, 2012 gross benefit amount over $3000.00. Combined evaluation remained at 70%. Commissory letter says entitled to disability compensation at the 100% rate due to service connected disabilities. Total disability is considered permanent and not scheduled for future examinations. Couldn't download the dd1172 form. Checked my bank account and no monies deposited yet and still no letter from VA. When these arrive then I will gladly post in Success stories.
  15. I got them in 1960 at Lackland and Whichita Falls. Will we ever know what they shot us with?
  16. If the shots don't help all that much; check into the radio frequency ritzomoty(not speeled Correctly). They have made a huge difference for my lumbar back pain.
  17. Thanks guys...Don't know if he sings very well at this age but I wouldn't go to Vegas to find out either. I didn't think he could sing very good even in the late 50"s, but I was a pure country boy then.. But my wife mentioned it but we couldn't go anyway.. This flu and upper respority infection has hung around since Dec 27. Getting some better but still have problem in the cold night air here in Okla.
  18. Got a letter today from Vet Rep!!!!!!!!!The rating board has proposed to grant a favorable rating on your claim for IU due to your service connected disabilities. This is UNOFFICIAL as yet; however you should be receiving OFFICIAL communications from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs within the near future.. Can't walk 50 foot due to back and lossof 70% of lungs but they sent me a form to fill out for free hunting and fishing license. Go figure. Nothing new on E-benefits has changed and ab8 letter same.. I will start spending the Money only after I get it or at least the official letter. If I wasn't down with flu like symptons and my wife is also, I would celebrate and go see WAYNE NEWTON saturday night at Hard Rock Casino in Tulsa.
  19. take your spouse with you for help and support. Be truthful and tell about your worst days and not your best one. Never tell them you are fine. Dress normal and not like you were going to church or a party. If you don't feel like it don't even shave and comb your hair. Too late now but you should have stayed up all night so you would be having a bad day.
  20. Mine was bassically the same, except completion date was 01-10-13. AB8 letter stil showed 70% rating and amount of money. Like Carli says on my other post we will just have to wait a little longer. We know a day for the VA is a week for us so hang in there. Probably several of us in the same boat. Mine was after a DRO interview in Dec. Hadn't made it to BVA yet.
  21. That is on the side of your profile that you can change if you wish. try to change to no and see if they change it back.
  22. Hadn't checked e-benefits in a couple of weeks and this is what I found. No appeal currently in progress. Your case has been received at BVA and BVA has mailed your decision to you and your representative and will be returneding claim to VA Medical Center. Closed date of 01/10/2013. Called vet rep and he says his records indicated still being worked on .
  23. My gaf has run from 52-58 for the last 4 years and I am still stuck on 50% for major Depression. You will probably have to get IMO/IME to get any higher.
  24. Looks like they made it a bit harder to access e-benefit from home page of VA home site. Took a while to find under compensation now.
