  1. @ Ruski Thanks for the heads up on the discharge forms...IT WORKED - I'm also doing the happy dance - I received my letter today stating that my $10K in loans has been discharged. It took a few months and I received a couple nasty letters from the creditors to pay but wants the system was able to get caught up - I received a letter on the Dept. of Education letterhead. Medic
  2. Congrats - way to hang in there
  3. Congratulations!! This is great news...you have a lot of good claims that were deferred so that is very good news. you should be at a 100% in no time. Good Luck - and continue hang in there.
  4. Denver...Congratulations way to hang in there!!! I think you can try for TDIU. :)
  5. congratulations on movement!!! Good luck. to save yourself on the Torture just check eBenefits on Friday nights only. Checking everyday or every other day is a killer :)
  6. @ Cooter...It still has not set in :) Thanks again for the kind words. And to everyone I'll be here for all my Brothers and Sisters and help in anyway I can...I'll continue to look thru the post and see what I can answer and research. I will continue to pay it forward - as others have done for me.
  7. @Midnight...I understand what you are going thru believe me you are not alone - I thought I was alone until I read this site - the best advise I can give is to continue to read the Success stories (they really helped me - to see others achieve success gave me motivation) I also did alot of cleaning up of my storage room and just organize my paperwork - so that all my ducks were in a row. especially if you are going to file ssdi afterwards. Start exercising by just walking outside if you can. Try to learn something new - like a language (believe me it is very hard and it is a challenge and you may never learn it but it will take your mind off the wait) also condition yourself to only check eBenefits once a month. or on Friday nights. That will also help with the wait. :) Hope this helps. It did for me.
  8. @ Hollis…PTSD is 1 day at a time I would file a claim now for PTSD because like the others state it takes months even years to receive a decision. Are you able to work? Also it is important to remember that the MH Dr is not your friend don’t be relax around him/her let them know the truth about how you feel at your worse times not at your best times – that was one of my biggest issues. Until I learned that they needed to know how I felt when I was at my worse not how I felt when I was in front of them for my appt.
  9. cool thanks - this is good info...I was in Theater then also
  10. Congratulations...Great News John46! I'm very happy for you :) Way to hang in there!!!
  11. Yea I second the guys - mine was direct deposited before I received the brown/white envelope so about a couple weeks or so. Congrats again Diesel !!!
  12. @ buckeye46 - Thanks for the heads up - I'm looking into that currently - I also just picked up my lifetime free pass into all the Florida State Parks :) this is an awesome benefit.
  13. Congrats Sgt....Semper Fi That's the way to hang in there and NEVER giving up :)
  14. Naw - I believe this is new :) which is awesome - but still take with a grain of salt - if you know what I mean.
  15. @ Ruben - If you still have money left on your GI Bill then No you can not use the Voc Rehab - I found this out because I went to the Voc Rehab Orientation and found out that I still had $18K available on my GI Bill. Question...are you on the old GI Bill or on the new post 9/11 GI Bill.
  16. It's hard to say but normally it's 60-90 days but it depends on the RO and how many claims there are working.
  17. lol you know military math is always off :) but I hear ya - Congrats on 90% :) and keep pushing for that 100% you are very near Jim - so hang in there
  18. @ hedgey - If you need a lil more information you can call 888-303-7818 and they will lead you in the right direction because alot of the student loan writers are still new to this VA Loan discharge - you can also visit http://www.NSLDS.ED.GOV and you can find out who you owe student loans too and where to mail the forms. I called the number this morning and was advised that I only needed to complete the 1st page of the 4 page print out and only mail the 1st page with a copy of your letter from the VA on the VA letterhead stating you are 100% P&T with the signature mine has (S.L. Smith) and that's all that would be needed and if any additional info is needed wants it's receive they will contact you. Hope this helps.
  19. Thanks again RL...I've also applied for the Student loan forgiveness program (so I'll keep everyone posted on the outcome).
  20. Thanks again to everyone...I've also applied for the Student loan forgiveness program (so I'll keep everyone posted on the outcome).

  22. Walking like a Gladiator...By this I mean sometimes I feel like GLADIATOR (Russell Crowe) the MOVIE, when I walk, meaning I am proud that I served Rome (United States of America) and I’ll be ready again to lay down my life for her. Brown and a White Envelope Arrived today effective date 12/2011 This total disability is considered permanent. You are not scheduled for future examinations. First off I have to give honorable mention to Carlie, Berta, and NJBB62 Thanks to all my HADIT FAMILY (As one stick may break, a bundle is strong.) You are a real blessing to many, personally for me. I hope these words will touch many or at least some,I’m not going to lie many many times I wanted to throw in the towel – whenever I had that feeling I would turn to the Success Page on this site and it gave me the inspiration to keep pushing forward. Again - to all that are still waiting please please DON'T EVER GIVE UP and continue to prosecute your claim issues in a timely manner. My RO was Baypines, FL… I started off at 20% in 09/2004 and 60% in 08/2008 and 70% in 09/2009 and 80% in 10/2010 and appeal on 02/2011. I was granted 100% 04/2012 effective 12/2011. A very long road but it was well worth it – The breakdown: 100% - PTSD (The claimant is considered competent to manage his own finances) 30% - Left Shoulder dislocation 20% - Herniated Nucleus Pulposus, Lumbar Spine 20% - BiLateral Hearing Loss 10% - Tinnitus No big retro – about 16K so don’t worry about me going wild and crazy (wink wink) I’ll fund that Roth IRA per my daughter. I'm on top of the ID cards for myself and my girls, ChampVA, and Ch. 35 DEA...If there are any others that are out there but are not really spoken of please PM me or post - Thanks in advance :) My passion will continue with helping as many VBA claimants as possible.
