Important Information When Filing A Claim
Remember the character Joe Friday, he would frequently say "JUST THE FACTS PLEASE, JUST THE FACTS" Keep this in mind when you are filing a claim. The claim could be an initial claim, a claim for increase or a claim for secondary conditions, filing a NOD, or filing a form 9. It really does not matter. I am not trying to be insensitive but VA does not care. Try to be specific about what you are claiming. Unfortunately long statements are misunderstood and confuse VA employees so getting to the point as soon as you can will help your claim. This is just my opinion

No Retirement Physical For Me
I've got about a month until I start terminal leave for retirment (20 years) and I set up my retirment physical with the base hospital. I had a list of all my current and past medical issues that I plan on filing VA disability for. The doc looked at my paperwork and said "if your filing a VA claim we do not give you a exit/retirment physical, the VA will do that". and sent me on my way. Sounds strange but I do see his point if the VA is going to do my physical then maybe an exit physical is a waste of time. Anyone else run into this situation when retiring??

Vso Filed Wrong Disability Claim
I called the 800# to see what claims were received by the VA as e-benifits doesn't show everything, and found out that my new VSO filed a claim on my behalf for Osteomyelitis, not for artherosclerotic disease. This is shocking. The rep wanted to know why was that filed? So I have to withdraw that claim, and resubmit everything. No other claims have been received. And I wonder why blood pressure is extremely elevated even though I am on max blood pressure medicine

Burned vets to be eligible for adaptive grants Army times, Page A16, Oct 18, 2010 edition WHAT’S UP: Disabled veterans with severe service connected burns will become eligible for automobile and adaptive equipment grants from the Veterans Affairs Department under an expansion of benefits approved by Congress, and the biggest grants will increase from the current $11,000 to a maximum of $18,900. The assistance has been limited to those with the loss — or loss of use — of one or both arms, legs or hands, or who have severe vision problems, defined as visual acuity of 20/200 or less and a field of peripheral vision of 20 degrees or less.
