Congressional Inquiry
My appeal is currently at the SSA Appeals Council level. I was denied SSA disability benefits by the ALJ. Has anyone ever had to write their Congressman concerning a social security disability issue and did it help?

ptsd Ptsd And Ssdi
I am rated 50% for PTSD by the VA back to 2008. I recently (July 20th) applied for SSDI and yesterday I got a call from them and they asked if I would agree to be examined by one of their doctors for my PTSD. I agreed because I have nothing to hide but I do question why this is being done? Anyone have this happen to them too?

tdiu I Am So Mad!
This may be long, but I'll try to stick to the point. I applied for SSDI back in Sep of last year, and was denied; I know nothing new there right. I then got a lawyer and requested a reconsideration in Apr. I was thinking that I was due for a decision soon so I called my lawyer last month and found out that they needed my information about my pacemaker insertion from May. I gave my lawyer the information she needed and thought shouldn't be long now. I got a letter this weekend from SS saying that they never received my pacemaker info, I called SS Monday and was told by the woman that the only medical information they had was from the psych exam they sent me to in Aug. I …

Social Security Auxilliary Benefits?
Hi Everyone Once Again, I recieved a call today from my local Social Security office. They told me they needed to set up an interview for Social Security Auxilliary Benefits for my family. I have never heard of this before, and didn't recieve any information in it when I recieved my award letter from them. I'll fill you in on my details. My effective date for becoming disabled to SSDI standards was July of 2009. They back paid me from January of 2010 due to the 6 month wait for benefits to pay out. I recieved this payment on October 1st of this year. My main question is, if I qualify for my 4 year old son and wife for these benefits, will they backpay me from …

Champva And Medicare Part A
My wife is covered by ChampVA. She also had filed for SSD about 3 years ago. The SSD was finally approved last year. She was paid retro from the date she filed. Now ChampVA says that she owes them the money they paid to the doctors for the period when she wasn't even covered by Medicare. Does this make sense?

Finally Filled 24 Spet
Well I sat down and filled my claim on 24 September. On the the 28th I got a call from my case manager I think that is what he called himself. We spent over a hour on the phone. He asked all kinds of question about my daily life. Then a few weeks later I got a letter with a quetioner for a family member or close friend. I sent that back to them promptly. I just check the staus online it says "The Disability Determination Service in your State is processing the medical port on of your claim" So far everything seems to be moving fast to me. I was told since I recently retired my claim was being expedited. I keeping my finger crossed and try not check the status everyday.

Challenging Weight Given To Va Disability Rating By Alj
So while waiting on my appeal to the Social Security Appeals Council, I keep reviewing my denial from the Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) - looking for more inconsistencies than what I have posted in earlier posts. In my denial the ALJ wrote: "As for the opinion of evidence, the undersigned has considered the consultative examination by Dr. xxxxx, and gives his assessment some weight because it is supported with the other evidence of record (Exhibit 3F). The undersigned has considered the assessment by the Department of Veteran Affairs at Exhibit 10F and gives it VERY LITTLE WEIGHT. The Department of Veterans Affairs gave the claimant a 100 per cent disability ratin…

Disability Claim
Okay people front and center!! Pete53, Testvet, Commander Bob, pete992, *Bergie*, Vetslady, char49, jbasser, LarryJ, Papa, and uh, oh heck I ain't smart enough to remember all that listened, gave advise, let me lean on their shoulders, sling snot and cry a little. You all are the greatest group around!! I went to make a much needed deposit and when I got our deposit slip back I thought I would pass out! I knew there was no way we had that much in our account. Yeah we got his SSDI back to 2007. Didn't think we would get anything until we had a notification. I don't really care if it's backward, just thankful E got what he deserved. If I could arrange it I would thr…

Not Sure
I was forced to take disability retirement from work (Federal) because of SC of knee. If I file for SSD because of knee and nothing else I'm sure they'll deny me for obvious reasons, such as, I could work sitting down, etc, etc. Ok with that said, say they approved me because of knee and other issues later down the road. My question is, will I be able to get retro from the last day of my disability retirement or retro from the later? Hope I explained this good enough.
