hypertension Sleep Apnea And Hypertension
I'm rated 10% for hypertension that developed during active duty. I also developed sleep apnea during the same time. I was told byothers in the barracks, that I had it. I didn't know anything about sleep labs or sleep apnea, so I was never treated. No official medical records of sleep apnea. 4 months after I was discharged, my primary care Dr. sent me to the VA sleep clinic for teeth grinding. I was diagnosed at that time with severe sleep apnea. I filed a claim and had 5 guys from the barracks write letters confirming they heard me stop breathing at night. The letter I received from them stated, "The evidence of record was reviewed and considered but there is no …

Denied
I began my claim in December, and now just got their decision today. There is no evidence for active service, and on my DD214, it actually shows, that I was. While at MEPS, it was discovered that I had a varicose sele, while activated for Desert Storm, I began having pains in my legs...mostly my left and in my testicles. And began seeing a doctor while at Fort Hood, after coming back to Fort Polk, I seen a Urologist. And stated that the best thing for me to do have the Varicose sele removed. Which I did, I had the surgery at Fort Polk (Bayne-Jones), from a civilan doctor who was activated for Desert Storm ( Dr. Bridges ). Now after some many years, I began having the same…

Claim For Depression
I am trying to determine if I have a claim for depression. Last year due my back and knees (80%) worsening I applied for IU still waiting to hear but I have been approved for SSD. Over a month ago I had appointment with a VA Doctor Due to a serve skin condition. The doctor thought at the time it was an allergic reaction to something after a month of medications and changing my food habits and detergents nothing changed. Two week ago, I had my follow up with the VA Doc and know she believes it could be anxiety/ depression and she put me on Fluoxetine which seem to be helping. All my life I have been working and I have seen many 6/12 though out the last 20 ye…

tdiu 80% But I Have Champva & Education For Kids ?
I have the Unemployability rating but I have all the P& T benefits. In reading some of the posts it seems as though this is possibly a mistake. I never got a letter in the whole 3 years of my IU rating saying that I was P&T. As a matter of fact. They sent out letters in December reminding me and my neighbor of our ratings. And mines still says 80% paid Unemployability. Should I mention this to them or should I ask for a letter specifically stating P&T. Because we are moving to Florida next year and I heard their P&T vets are exempt from Real estate tax. So shoud I ask for a letter saying P& T from the VA or am I already P&T at 80%? I am sooo confus…

Vha Handbook For Coding Guidelines
ICD codes are not that important when dealing with VA Disability Claims, though some people may feel they are. In regards to ICD Codes, I have borrowed these words from someone in the know and tend to agree. carlie "I doubt most VA Rating Specialists or DRO's would even know what you were talking about if this were to be brought up. This isn't really something that VA Rating personnel are involved with in any way. It's really more of a health insurance claim issue and something that involves the health care people and statistics." But here is a link for the VA's Hanbook just incase some may have interest. carlie http://www.virec.research.va.gov/Referenc…

lumbosacral Codes/spine Ratings
If I'm rated for Intervertebral Disc Syndrome @ 20%, does that cover all of the spinal conditions listed within the codes or is it just 1 condition onto itself? For instance, if I have spinal stenosis also, is that a seperate rateable condition? I was curious because I have a few diagnosed issues with my cervical spine that have seperate codes according to the table below....I'm just not sure if they are rated seperately, if the are coded with different #'s. Thanks, in advance, for any responses! Spine5235Vertebral fracture or dislocation.5236Sacroiliac injury and weakness.5237Lumbosacral or cervical strain.5238Spinal stenosis.5239Spondylolisthesis or segmental ins…

tdiu Entitlement
For Berta or anyone who can help. I am TDIU, 70% schedular. I have prostate cancer already service connected. My PSA is up and other bladder problems as a result of prostatectomy. They are taking out my bladder next month and we have service connection. My question is: I already am 60% for urinary dysfuntion(over 5 pads a day). Once they take the bladder, I will be on an appliance, which is also 60%(but will drop the 5 pads a day). I believe I should be eligible for another smc(for loss of bladder). Then would I be bumped up any schedular for the bladder loss? I believe it might be stacking because of the 40% already for over 5 pads a day which will be eliminated by bl…
