Blue Water Navy HR 299 set for vote on Monday
Please call or email your Congressman/woman to support this bill-the Blue Water AO issue has gone on too long- this bill can help resolve it. You can find your Congressperson in this list and their contact info is there as well. www.house.gov/representatives I not only asked my Congressman to support HR 299 on Monday, I asked him to direct any constituent of his with a VA claims problem to our site.

Blue Water Navy-from John Rossie
John , Blue Water Navy Advocate-who has done SO MUCH on this issue-( former President of BWNVVA) is attempting to get his article here published in a newspaper and wanted me to post it here at hadit. Unfortunately there are very few news outlets interested in issues like this which ,in my opinion, should be national news. John left his phone number in the article and I hope some of you have comments here on this, that I could pass on to him: Leaving the Carrier Sailors Behind Recent House action on the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act (HR-299) will move that legislation out of Committee and onto the Floor for a vote. The Bill has taken over…

BVA 2018 decisions on line- Nehmer
There are 48 new 2018 deisions regarding Nehmer- this one is Very interesting: https://www.va.gov/vetapp18/files1/1801140.txt The veterans claimed HBP due to his PTSD and also due to his AO DMII. What is interesting is that BVA included the "limited, suggestive association of AO to HBP and remanded the claim---as that could potentially become an AO presumptive, and maybe now- but the examiner must render a decision on what the veteran's HBP is from. In addition, the Veteran's exposure to herbicides during his service has been conceded. While hypertension is not listed on the exclusive list of presumptive diseases due to herbicide exposure under 38 C.…

AO UPDATE -our last chance
As all here know, if and when the Secretary adds any new AO presumptives due to the NAM ( formerly IOM) 2014 report it will be the last possible chance to have any other AO conditions added. Yesterday I got two updates: https://www.stripes.com/news/us/shulkin-says-he-would-if-he-could-expand-agent-orange-related-health-care-1.518135 http://www.thenewstribune.com/latest-news/article206376404.html Possible additions still include bladder cancer, hypothyroidism, and Parkinsonian symptoms ( as compared to full flown Parkinson -already a AO presumptive. However, the VA has stated in the past that hypertension and stroke could be potential AO disabiliti…

No New AO presumptives?
I have had a bad cold all week and just started checking my emails....this AM a Florida Newspaper stated that VA had decided Not to add anymore AO presumptives. They gave no link for that statement. Have I missed something? This came up on a Google Alert I have had for a long time regarding the potential new AO presumptives the VA Secretary would consider. Has anyone received any definitive news from the VA or any vet org, that there will be no new AO presumptives in the future?

How do I request a disability be related to Agent Orange
Florida gives real estate tax relief in the percentage amount of any disability which is "combat-related". For instance I get a 10% reduction in my real estate taxes due to having ischemic heart disease which the VA considers presumptive because of my service in Vietnam. Here is the way it appears in my C-file: ISCHEMIC HEART DISEASE STATUS POST MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION [Agent Orange - Vietnam/Ischemic Heart Disease] Service Connected, Vietnam Era, Presumptive Static Disability. 10% from 03/01/2012 I am service connected for cancer of the submandibular gland along with several secondaries. Here is the way it appears in my C-file: RESIDUAL SCAR, ST…

AO Ships list updated Nov 2017
This is the most recent update to the VA's AO ship's list ( to include Coast Guard vessels, etc) These ships and vessels are on this list (which sure has grown over the years) in part because many Blue Water Veterans were able to prove their exposure to AO ,while shipboard, in many ways. This 2016 article tells more about that: https://www.propublica.org/article/vietnam-vets-hunt-through-ships-logs-to-prove-they-should-get-benefits Updated AO SHips List Nov 2017.docx

Bring Blue Water Navy to Closure?
The BWNVVA counsel is afraid to bring these actions because “I don’t want to piss them off” [leadership]. My thought is who cares if we piss them off. They have let us hang and denied passage of the Blue Water Navy Bills for at least 10 years. Although discharge petitions have not been very successful in the past, some have done what they intended. The thought of embarrassing the leadership is fine with me. They should be embarrassed! Pissing them off does not affect the outcome of the BWNVVA bill status, because we will lose nothing. We do not have presumptive status. Congress denies us at every turn. Since that is a fact we lose nothing. Perhaps this will turn it around…

AO Okinawa granted
We had a poster mention Okinawa here recently-and I found some more recent BVA awards that I might have missed posting here in the past, granted due to proven AO exposure in Okinawa. https://www.va.gov/vetapp16/files5/1635277.txt https://www.va.gov/vetapp17/files6/1731591.txt https://www.va.gov/vetapp17/files4/1721360.txt https://www.va.gov/vetapp17/files8/1744297.txt Note –in this case the veteran had been in Laos and also TDY in Vietnam as well as Okinawa. JSRRC failed to confirm he had been in Vietnam and the RO denied. However: (from above link in part) “Evidence against the claim includes an October 2016 Administrative Decisi…
