ptsd Voc Rehab - Independent Living Services
I had an appointment at Vocational Rehabilitation yesterday for Independent Living Services. After completing the necessary paperwork I was told that a Counselor would contact me and come out to do a home visit. I was wondering who has already gone through this process and what your experience was like? I am 100% disabled Total and Permanent and Unemployable. I have chronic back issues, chronic migraines, Stage 3 Renal Failure, PTSD, Depression, Carpal Tunnel (both wrists), Sleep Apnea. What exactly can I expect from this program? What are my chances on being approved? I have read that individuals receive adjustable/therapeutic beds, computers, lift chairs, etc... …

Approved for Voc Rehab. But can't figure out exactly how they will assess my stipend?
Hi, I was recently approved for 3 years of Voc Rehab to attend the local university for a bachelor's degree in computer science. The reason I went through Voc Rehab is because I had used all but 3 months and 5 days of my post 9/11 G.I. Bill and I knew there was no way to finish a bachelor's without utilizing Voc Rehab. So basically, this approval will add 36 months of Voc Rehab to the 33 months of post 9/11 I already used (for a combined total of 69 months). During my appointment the counselor said I was approved (but I'm pretty sure she has to get it approved from her superiors when you are extending beyond 48 months of combined total training). She gave me a …

Accepted for VOC REHAB now what?
Good morning Ladies and Gentleman. I am new to the forum and have learned a lot through the reading and examination of al these previous posts. I appreciate the help. My question is I recently went to my VOC REHAB Orientation. I was approved right away, I brought all the certifications for my line of work that I'd like to get to keep competitive in my position and also allow for it to move me into more of a managerial position which would suit my SC. I've since left 2 weeks ago and my counselor just keeps giving me a run around about talking to his supervisor about the training, one email was no they won't pay, the next was yes they would explore it but now i need an O…

~3 Months without Rehabilitation Plan
Hello brothers and sisters! Quick question(s) for you. At the beginning of January, I was told in an in-person interview at the VR&E office that I qualified for vocational rehabilitation. We both agreed on the standard: "Employment through Long Term Services" I was given a VA Form 28-0800, which included a list of documentation to get to my counselor. I have submitted said documentation (career profile, DD 214, daughters birth certificate, etc.) via email, as requested. However, the last progress I heard, was that my counselor was "going through the documentation, and hoping to finish it this week." This was last week. It has been roughly 4 weeks sinc…

ptsd Voc Rehab/ TDIU/ Criminal Background
This is a 2 part question: Am I a good candidate for Voc Rehab even with a criminal background? Am I a good candidate for TDIU because my criminal background (which I attribute to acquiring through my PTSD) is preventing me from finding gainful employment? I have applied for Voc Rehab and I am to meet with a counselor in a few weeks to go over my disability (70% PTSD) and to decide if I am to be a good fit for Voc Rehab. I want to request that they allow and pay for me to go back to the local college for my bachelors in computer science. However, one of the serious (in my opinion) barriers to employment that I face is my criminal background. A D.U.I …

Voc Rehab Question
I am 80% disabled veteran who is currently in college. It has been over 12 years since I was awarded my service connected disability but I had my disability increased in 2013 from 50% to 80%. I was denied Voc Rehab for school since it has been over 12 years and that I didn't complain enough about my disability with my VA doc's . My councilor told me if I go to the VA doc twice to complain and have it documented that he would approve me into Voc Rehab. I am debating on requesting an administrative review and challenging my councilors decision. Not sure if I have a leg to stand on since it has been over 12 years, but my thought is that since my rating increased that their w…
