  1. 2weeks for Secretary McDonald to contact me. April 20th I sent the email to him and by May 7th my claim was complete and settled the way I asked. Thanks hope you and all the other Vets can get the same results!
  2. Good luck, hope everything works out in your favor!
  3. I have to agree with you Berta and nothing makes me more upset than seeing a US Flag torn or in shreds on a flag pole, jmo!
  4. Congratulations to the both of you, awesome!
  5. You have to keep trying and contact everyone, but I would start with under Secretary Hickey and then Secretary McDonald. In my case I sent an email to both and Secretary McDonalds office responded first, good luck hope something works.
  6. I believe you are right PR, I have a k for LOU of right hand and a k for LOU of creative organ.
  7. I second that support for Secretary McDonald and under Secretary Hickey. In just a matter of 2 weeks my problem was resolved and everything I asked for was granted. On April 20 2015 I sent 2 emails out, 1 to under Secretary Ms. Hickey and 1 to Secretary McDonald explaining my exact contentions and as simple as possible. On April 27th I recieved an email back Secretary McDonalds office that my email was forwarded to my RO for action to be taken on my claim. Then Sunday May 3rd I recieved a call from a rater who was assigned my claim due to my email I sent to Secretary McDonald. Now my claim has been resolved and just about finished. Now before I have writen to Congressmen and Senators and although I have seen favorable results, I have never seen results this quick. So yes be short and simple and to the point, and lay out exactly what your asking for, if you have to state the 38 CFR that covers your particular case. That way they will not have do the research and tie your claim up any longer. I also believe it will make the VA realize that you know what the laws are and you plan on doing what is necessary to resolve your claim. JMHO
  8. Congrats and hope for the best in your future VA dealings!
  9. Thank you everyone I really do appreciate all the help. My journey has been short when compared to many others but I am glad I got what I asked for and not have go the long way through many appeals. I have had this Multiple Sclerosis since 1991 and only in the last 3 years has it taking a turn for the worse. It has knocked me down but not out, so I am still here and I will continue here for good. Still have many questions about this new SMC rating of R1. I will be around to ask those questions and other ones too I am sure. So I will have to use our Marine Corps saying that has stuck in my head for ever, that once a "Marine always a Marine". Same goes for here once a "Hadit always a Hadit"
  10. I started this letter this morning, then I forgot to copy it before my phone rang of course I have to start over. So anyways I recieved a phone call yesterday from a RO rater who says they got a memo that "Bob" got an email from me of my major contentions. The rater says he is working overtime and needs to get my claim done. We go over my claim and he procedes to tell me he will grant everything I requested. At that point I ask him about the R1 rating and he says he would have to go to his superior to get authorization, because there was an appeal in for Aid and Attendance that I submitted 2 years ago. He said I would get a call within 1 day. So this morning at 9am I get a call from his superior and he starts to tell me that he will authorize the R1 rating if I drop the appeal. Because I have a POA, the appeal stuff has to come from them and me agreeing to drop the appeal then back to the rating authority. My POA calls me and says I am not dropping the appeal because they can not say they will give me the R1 rating. It got really frustrating and confusing after that. I called the rater back and he said that I actually would not get the R1 with my original claim and just that A/A. He tells me I can get the R1 with my new 100% rating for cystotomy because it is seperate and distinct from my other disabilities. I say well that is what I need. He says ok we were al confused. If I asked for the R1 with the appeal it would take much longer. Basically the R1 is granted from September 5 2014 and the appeal still stands but really means nothing right now pretty much a moot claim because I am currently getting rated higher right now at M+2k and that is higher than A/A. Finally I just got finished with the rater and he said I am giving you everything and R1, if I need anything especially if I have to go to R2 to give him a call and he will help. I am just overjoyed!! My wife is probably more excited than me, I thought she was going to hit the ceiling yeserday when the rater was first teling me yes about the R1 rating. I would like to thank Tbird first for having such a wonderful site to help out Veterans. Without this site I would be lost. Next I have to give a big thankyou to Asknod, for his knowledge and guidance through this SMC maze. Next I give a big thanks to Broncovet and Berta for their continued support and extreme know how of the rules and regulations of VA claims process. Do not want to forget curlie, I borrowed her letter format she emailed to Ms. Hickey and also all the stuff she has put on this site to help everyone research. would like to thank all the Veterans and Widows on here and elsewhere for their service and support. I am grateful for everyone here and just hope everyone can get what they deserve we have earned it. I am not done, we never are. Thankyou!
  11. Just Mailed the NOD today, so I will see what happens now. I just felt that I would email "Bob" and or "Allison" along with filing a NOD to try to push my claim. If something good happens because of it then great, if not then I will just have to deal with it. Like I said in my previous post I filed a 526EZ for my suprapubic cystotomy with my claim for increase and it was documented in the C & P exam that I pulled up on Myhealthvet. It was nowhere in the decision that I recieved though. This suprapubic cystotomy according to 38 CFR part 4, should be rated as voiding dysfunction at 100%. Instead I was given neurogenic bladder at 30% an increase from 20%. It is obvious and plain as day, I have a whole in my stomach and suprapubic cathter hanging out.
  12. My physical and occupational therapist from the SCI clinic ordered me an alert system a year ago. It has already come in handy a few times. I have it set to call friends and family only. I am afraid to have it call 911 by mistake too many times. It is not the subscription type system though but works just as good.
  13. Actually I have been dealing with this claim for over 2 years. Like many others here at Hadit, I just did not feel like waiting any longer. We at least have someone at the top to maybe help us now. I respect everything you always say, and thanks. I know I only needed to email just one of them. Just figured hopefully one of the two would respond back. I was trying to avoid having to file a NOD and tie up this system for something that was plain as day. I filed a 526EZ for my suprapubic cystotomy that was suppose to be addressed during my last C&P exam. That issue was in the report by the examiner but never was rated. I asked for help to solve this, I still have the NOD just have not mailed it yet.
  14. I got my $10,000 life insurance back when I was first IU in 1993. Also have taken loans on mine a couple of times.
