I had a long-awaited cardiology consult today at the Dayton VA. I have quite a cardiac history and hadn't been to see the cardio-doc in a while. Finally got a consult after having a significant increase in chest pains and associated symptoms over the past several months...actually almost a year. They did the EKG. The nurse asked me a few questions (had no knowledge of my cardiac history)...so I tried to fill him in...he scolded me on my nitro use and not calling 911 when I'm supposed to--my bad. Then I saw the doc.....he was more clueless than the nurse. He also had zero knowledge of my history (so much for that fancy electronic record-keeping system)...and he rea…

I changed my PCP to Fayetteville, from Mount Vernon, MO, because I always end up there anyway. Back in 11/08 Fayetteville took over my meds. In December I received a few of the prescriptions, only the cheap stuff and, utilizing a dental appointment today, I went around to the various clinics and ask them where my meds were. Nothing had been shipped out to me this month, duh. The pharmacy has canceled 2 because of availability, never got the prescriptions for 3 others and agreed to send the rest this week, the cheap stuff. In the private sector my monthly meds are 1600 bucks. I know this because I frequently get stuck buying them myself. My wife's employer recently (…

Recently I was taking Hydrocodone, Alpralasom, Lisinopril, and after a COPD episode Christmas night, I was given Prednisone and a steriod shot at a local ER. Not Good. I get all these meds from VA. There is a great website that will allow you to check over the counter and prescription drugs for interactions to prevent what I went through. www.drugs.com. This site may have saved my life. Some of these interactions can cause death. Always check what you are being given, trust me the VA won't check them for you.

Went to the Dermatology Clinic today (after much begging for a referral from my PCP) as I have a history of skin cancer (x2). I've had a couple more suspicioius moles I've been watching for quite some time and the Derm doc took one look at them today and did an immediate removal and biopsy of both of them. So keep your fingers crossed that I get good news!!! The Derm doc agreed that I need to be seen several times a year for a full-body check of suspicious moles and other skin spots....too bad it took almost 3 years to get this through the head of my PCP...gotta love the VA.

The man in this video, John Breeding, is a PHD psychologist with a private practice in Texas. A great deal of cutting-edge information about "mental disorders" is coming out of Texas now. Texas was the the first state to implement wide-spread drugging of children in the schools based on the theory that one in five Americans is seriously "mentally ill". It was called the TMAP program. It has failed, and worse, caused countless children to suffer needlessly, but TMAP has also spurred a revolution in thinking about just what is and what is not normal behavior, emotion, and reaction to stress and abuse.

Thank you for providing this forum for the free flow of ideas and information! I was caught up in the mental health system for eight years, mostly at the VA, from 1974 to 1982. Those of us who received psychiatric treatment prior to the development of the PTSD diagnosis were usually labeled as schizophrenic, bi-polar, etc. These labels stuck, even after it was confirmed that stress could cause the same symptoms. After doing several years of research on my own, I learned about Orthomolecular Therapy based on tissue mineral analysis (a hair sample), and obtained it for myself at my own expense. In a few months, I regained my physical and mental health and was able to make t…

In 1993 while visiting my Mom in El Paso Texas she had me test with a borrowed glucose monitoring kit and my readings were all over 300. I reviewed my medical records from VA and saw that my tests indicated high reading of blood and sugar in urine. I brought this up with my primary care Doc and he has an A1C that was high and told me I was diabetic and put me on glyberide in 1995. The first week I took it I broke out in rashs and felt like hell but over time my A1C improved and I got better or so I thought. Its been a constant battle with little or no help nor training from VA but now although I take insulin 2 kinds and metformin my control is not what it should be. My…

Okay, Ive wondered about this for awhile now but didn't have a need to find out till now. I live about 150 miles from the VA hospital. The local clinic does not take walkins. I hurt my finger Xmas day and still cannot move it at the top joint. It's definatly not an emergency to go to the ER, there is little pain. I called this morning to get an appointment at the clinic and the soonest I can get in on an appointment basis is the 20th of jan. When I asked about the non emergency care the call center lady forwarded my call to the clinic desk. They do not answer and I left a message. Obviously, I don't want to pay to go to the ER if the VA is going to say a sore finger…
