The VA has sent me to 3 different vascular clinics in the last year. 61 percent clogged in my neck. Now they have made me an appointment for a 4th. This should be good for some laughs. NO! your third year medical students may not cut on me... The buttheads won't even give me my pain meds for me trashed joints that they tell me need to be replaced or the ptsd medications. I'm not supposed to drive more than 15 miles, according to the VA ortho prick, and the new appointment is 5 hours away on the interstate. Why me Lord? In my last incarnation I musta been a real bad dude. sledge

My WWII 83 year old grandfather who is SC for TB in WWII went to the VA for a heart procedure. They kept him for several days and finally let him go home. 3 days after he got home the phone rang and he was told to go to the nearest ER. He told them where he was going and they were to call ahead. They did. He was admitted in a coak of secrecy and was treated like he had the plague. They ran test after test, IV antibiotics adn the works before they finally came in ans said We are sorry, There is nothing wrong with you and it was a mistake. He was being treated as a MRSA patient and the records were from another patient who was walking around somewhere. He is 83 …

Hello all, I have shared my medication regime before on this site. Well, I just had to schedule my I.V. treatment. That treatment is every 2-3 months, depending on my labs. Well, the treatment is going to be in January. You know, all the medicine I take (30 pills a day),,, it gets depressing. Then,,, having to look forward to this daggone I.V. treatment. The I.V. treatment is every 6 hours for 2 days. It gets extremely depressing. All this, for the rest of my life (remember, I'm 35), just to stay alive. I feel like,,, if I take a piss test,,, the poor technician would go crazy trying to figure out what's in it. ---I guess that is kind of funny.--- It fee…

My husband has these moles on the back of his head, and they've recently started to rupture. The actual moles have been there for years, so we didn't worry about them, until they started to rupture. When they rupture, a single, hard white mass comes out. Scared the crap out of us. We call the VA to get an appointment with his PCP. Never actually talked TO her, just "her nurses" (READ: The PCP is a NP!) Okay, so we keep calling, because we never get a call back from the PCP, the nurses are like, "Uh, I don't know what she wants to do" Finally, the PCP puts in a script for wait for it........ MINOCYCLINE! A friggin antibiotic! The moles are NOT INFECTED! There would be othe…

C&P doctor ignored my MOS and testimony in orginal claim, the C&P examiner gave the opinion in that my hearing loss and tinnitus from old age at age 58. After two years, 2 NODS and 6 audiomoligy visits later, got a different opinion from VA ENT and VA treating audiologist, that hearing loss is from acoustical trauma (loud noise) many years ago. I now have hearing aid being made. I fill an urge to reopen my claim, of course I will lose all my back pay if I get sc'd on this condition because I got pnuemonia right after the SSOC, was very sick, hospitalized and screwed up and reponded with my NOD 6 days late over the new 30 days deal. Got another SSOC saying we have …

AUSTIN -- A major pharmaceutical firm funneled kickbacks to Texas health officials, distributed false marketing materials and deployed phony advocacy groups to get its top-dollar schizophrenia drug prescribed to low-income Texans, the state alleges in a new filing in a major fraud lawsuit. Also Online Download: Read the state's filing The records in the civil suit allege that Janssen Pharmaceuticals defrauded the state of Texas repeatedly over the last decade to secure a spot for the drug, Risperdal, on the state's Medicaid preferred drug list and on controversial medical protocols that determine which drugs are given to adults and children in state custody.…

It's always a treat to get the latest copy of your VA medical records...you just never know what you're going to find. Geeeez. When I was at the Urgent Care/ER last Tuesday for possible appendicitis the Urgent Care doc told me that I had diverticulitis. Strange thing is, he told me this prior to getting any test results. I guess he's just psychic. The ER doc didn't even examine me or offer a dx....she looked like she needed to be a pt herself that evening, coughing, sneezing, watery eyes....lovely. Probably a good thing she didn't touch me. Anyway....I get my records and guess what. There is no dx in my records!! It says "Etiology of her pain is currently unk…

I saw my VA shrink yesterday - she is basically just MH Medication Management for me, I see someone else for therapy. We talked about my nightmares. She has written a script that VA will mail to me next week. I don't remember the name of it now but she said this RX was originally developed to in someway (I don't know what) help the male prostate, but as a side effect it is helpful for PTSD. She said I will get the usual RX info with it. She also said she is going to start me out on a VERY low dose as there is a contra-indication in RXing this to me. The drug can also have a side-effect of lowering blood pressure and as I am already a cardiac patient (C…

Since spending several hours at the VA ER on Tuesday for possible appendicitis....then the doc said it was most likely diverticulitis and sent me home with 3 new meds...I actually got worse. So I looked up these new meds on line....oh yes the side effects of these meds were the culprit. They all had gastrointestinal side effects ( nausea, stomach cramps, etc) and caused headaches. Duh. I took my last dose of them yesterday morning and I'm already feeling a little better. Supposed to go back to the VA Urgent Care for a follow-up on Tuesday....uh....I think I'll pass. I don't need them making me any worse again.

Oh yes....the level of stupidity at the pharmacy of the Dayton VA just continues to amaze me. I just caught another error on their part. Well, it's either an error, or they are trying to cover another doc's butt. I was looking at my latest script from the pdoc I saw last week when I noticed that the name of the doc on the bottle isn't the name of the doc I saw!!! The name on the bottle is actually the supervisor of the department. Strange. Plus I looked up this new med with my med interaction list....geeeez....so not good. I'm calling the pharmacy tomorrow and ask some questions.
