I DON'T UNDERSTAND
U talk to your psychiatrist and psychologists for 2 years about how your traumatic experiences in the military changed you, u put in a claim and c&p examerror says less likely than not vets MR issues are from military service he sought help many years after he left service?? Is this common? I separated in 2012. Guess I wait for the denial and file a appeal. Also what is the difference with claiming ptsd vs depression?? do they both have stressors??? Do the stressors have to be good enough in the examiner's eye to be called a stressor? U tell the examiner what u went thru and he probably thinking eh I heard worst no stressor for u.

PTSD increase request 70% to 100% comment from pyschatirst "severity reamins the same" and "character pathology issues"
will actually review my uploaded statements I did at the last minute. The claim is currently in Preparation for decision and has been that way since the 11th. Does it normally close out faster for a denial or approval? I know my previous claims closed out within days, though not sure the process for 100% P&T. I did not clam UI as my job works from home and solving technology issues is truly the only thing I enjoy at times. On the other hand I am really worried due to the depression and stress along with my temper I make a fatal mistep and lose it as I have in the past which almost got me fired from the job. Though by a stroke of luck, and because my personality…

ptsd PTSD Non-Combat Claim
Hello, I appreciate all the valuable information in here and would like to share my journey hoping for some advice along the way. I am looking for information that would be useful for a claim I am submitting for a non combat stressor for PTSD. I was active duty in the Marine Corps from 2002-2006, my first duty station after boot camp and infantry training was at the Marine Barracks in Washington, DC. In 2004 myself and a few others were trained to retrieve the transfer cases of fallen service members from Dover, DE. While removing the transfer cases we would place them in trucks and after the last service member was removed we would escort the truck to the mortuary o…

Bruxism secondary to PTSD
I went by the veteran services here and ask her to print off what ever was entered from the Severe Bruxism C&P from July 10th. It was in there and she printed it for me. It says under Pertinent Findings: A note dated June 6th authored by Dr X X diagnosed the claimant with PTSD and symptoms attributable to PTSD which included severe bruxism and migraines. Also a letter dated April 17 2017 signed by ( a different Dr) stated claimant suffered from OSA as confirmed by a sleep study in Feb 2017. He was prescribed a CPAP machine to treat the condition, but is unable to wear it many times because of his anxiety and "feelings of suffocation" secondary to the PTSD. The l…

Veterans "gaming" the system for PTSD claims?
Hi Everyone, I wanted to share with you a article that I read on military.com in which a Bruce (whatever his last name is) testified to a group on how the veterans are "gaming" the system, and getting PTSD claims approved. First of all, I would like to meet this guy face-to-face and tell him what an idiot he is. (I would like to do more, but restraint would be necessary). First of all a V.A. doctor has to determine that you have PTSD, not someone from the outside. Does this clown think the V.A. doctors are willing to "look the other way" on claims? Quite the opposite. Then you have to have a "stressor", that ties the PTSD with an military event related to the PTSD. …

ptsd 1stCavArty
I just noticed that my claim for increase in rating went from Preparation for Notification back to Pending Decision Approval and the expected completion date has slipped a week. Should I be concerned ? Does this mean they can't make up their mind or is it just a work around to give them more time to work on the paperwork because they coudn't meet the first completion date ?

ptsd Need Advice
I filed for PTSD in 1995 and was diagnosed at that time of the C&P with Dysthymia with prominent features of anxiety, so PTSD denied. I also was denied for "Memory loss" - Service connection for memory loss is denied because this disability is determined to result from a known clinical diagnosis of dysthymia, which neither occurred in nor was caused or aggravated by service. I did not appeal as I was very uneducated in the rules and regs for VA. After many years later and many problems later that arose from my issues I finally came back to VA for help. I recently was diagnosed by a VA psychologist for PTSD as I have been attending all visits as scheduled for a few…

what the heck
Denial...really? The veteran's use of opiates, cannabis, and alcohol began prior to service, thus current/recent use/abuse is not caused by an in-service related event. Given the veteran's consistent diagnosis and treatment of PTSD, and the frequency of relapse of substance use, it is as least as likely as not that his substance use (to include opioid use disorder) is aggravated beyond its natural progression by his PTSD symptoms. Per 3/15/2017 initial PTSD exam the veteran was diagnosed with PTSD, alcohol use disorder, cannabis use disorder, and opioid use disorder, all of which were in early remission. The 3/15/2017 medical opinion, the examiner o…

At the behest of my psychiatrist at the V.A. on more than one occasion, I was asked why I did not request an increase from my 30% initial rating 8 years ago. I have no answer for that other than I felt like I wasn't deserving. After a particular hard day, I changed my mind, again at her request, and started the process. My symptoms have gotten worse as I get older. I have been working with the V.A. Psychiatrist and a "Medication Advisor" for lack of a better title the entire time. This process is bringing back all the bad thoughts that have been plaguing me since my first round with my claim. I am scheduled for another C&P exam next month and my anxiety attacks are no…

100 PERCENT or NOT???
Quick back drop I've filed for increase for ptsd Oct. 2017 and had my exam the following month. Awarded 70 percent with retro pay included, right after i filed for IU in Dec. 2017 and they just gave me another ptsd C&P exam(Feb. 17, 2018). 3 months apart from each other for the same exam i thought was kind of strange. But none the less I would like any feed back on whether this new exam remains at 70 percent???(My gut feeling is saying 100)..... SECTION I: ---------- 1. Diagnostic Summary --------------------- Does the Veteran now have or has he/she ever been diagnosed with PTSD? [X] Yes [ ] No ICD C…
