Help/Hope for a bad C&P is all lost? Hope I get a good rater!
I filed a claim sometime in early October for an increase of my PTSD, a foot injury, as well as put in for 2 new conditions and one secondary condition. While I am largely very happy with how the claims for my physical disabilities has gone (my examiner told me within the first 5 minutes he was going to connect me for all the new stuff and that I rated an increase for the foot issue - after that I just had to actually do the C&P! My PTSD exam and resulting DBQ however were not nearly as smooth as my other C&P's had gone. Honestly I was actually kind of shocked when I finally got around to pulling it off myhealthevet and reading it. A big reason I was so surpr…

MST Claim
I am in the process of putting together a claim package for mental health issues related to MST. Try as I might, I cannot find a VSO with experience in my situation. It's taken me years to accept that I need help and that I need to address this once and for all, so when I say that I cannot handle doing this twice (submitting a sub par claim and then doing appeals) I really mean it. From day to day, I vacillate between thinking my problems are actually other people's inability to cope OR feeling like there is no point to me and that I'm a burden. If it weren't for the whole not being able to pay bills and risking alienating my kids for all eternity, I'd be perfectly conte…

Dreams about drowning
I'm a Marine Corp Veteran and I've been having nightmares about drowning. I got recycled for swimming and they sent me back multiple weeks instead of one. I'm afraid to get in any pools or go near the beach. My sleep has been off and I don't know what to do? Any suggestions?

Reduction in VA disability benefits - 100% to 0%
Hello everyone, Today I received a letter stating I will be getting a reduction of benefits from 100% to 0% for PTSD. I was awarded this amount in October 2010 and maintained the 100% rating until now. In November 2017 I had reexamination for PTSD, the results came back in December 2017 and I was again awarded 100%. Fast forward to February 2018, I received a letter in the mail saying I needed to go to a out of the VA doctor for them to fill out a DBQ form, I called the VA that day and stated I was not comfortable with speaking to another doctor about my PTSD, the women told me I could have my metal health doctor fill it out and send it back to them. I have an email from …

PTSD & MDD seperate comorbid
All, few days ago I was awarded 90% being paid at 100% TDIU. Ebenefits says not P & T. I have 3 questions if someone could help me. My DAV rep was let go and now I have nobody to ask question about my claim. When I applied for TDIU she wrote increase for rating for my Lumbar DDD and PTSD which was 40 & 70% respectively. I have another 30% with both knees and tinnitus. Total rating of 90%. left and right knee is bilateral and radiculopathy is bilateral of left and right leg (not sure how those 4 ratings of 10% each are calculated)? Additionally, I was just diagnosed with moderate to severe sleep apnea and now using CPAP. I have a scar I never sou…

Book about living with PTSD
TBird, Can I get consent to plug a friend's book here. It is a book that helps disabled vets deal with PTSD. Much, if not all his proceeds are going back to disabled vets. After retiring from the Navy (EOD), started and eventually sold a successful business to devote his time and resources to help vets. He start a retreat in VA. I can give you the name, if it helps. I'm intentionally leaving detailed info out until I get permission. I was hoping I could add the link here.

What constitutes "minimal hygiene"?
We've all read the rating schedule a thousand times. It's surprisingly unhelpful, while being so plain. I'm waiting for a rating for (complex)PTSD due to MST. Also have ocd, anxiety, and depression. I'm a hot mess most days, with a side of soup sandwich. Thanks to my overwhelming mistrust for the system, I'm having a hard time being patient and not fixating on this. "Will it be 70, will it be 100? If I fit both, they have to err towards the higher..." and on and on. My current hang up is the hygiene thing. Is that like getting smelly and gross? Or would weird stuff like bathing half dressed (yes, clothes on under the shower) and only once a week or so, using wi…

Board in D.C gave increase for PTSD back to 2005
SO after almost a decade of fighting through the VA process. I got a mixed bag REMAND from the board. I first filed my TDUI in the summer of 2010. The board granted me and increase from my current 50% to 70% PTSD .....granted/back pay from the date of February 14, 2005. They also granted me new service connection for "chronic headache disorder" or headaches. They remanded my seizure disorder back to the RO because of examiners opinions contradicted the medical evidence favoring service connection. They have to fix and make new decision on that. MY question is if they gave me an increase from 50%to 70% for PTSD how do I figure out back pay amount .....ie is it just the di…

Military Sexual Trauma Coordinators - When to use them??
The VA lists 2 Military Sexual Trauma Coordinators in every state - a male and a female. https://www.publichealth.va.gov/exposures/coordinators.asp I am not sure what their purpose is, I think they are suppose to guide a MST victim through the process, and keep things confidential. But I have many questions as to their expertise, how they are trained, and if it is advisable to contact them before you get your case together, be it as it may. Or is part of their duty to aid and guide you in putting your case together, opening doors for so so you have access to information that is otherwise difficult to obtain?? Other words - are they worth their Salt? Guid…
