1. ptsd Confused About Va Mental Health Treatment.

   well Im really confused and angry with the VA clinic. last week I made an appointment to seek help for my PTSD cause its getting worse.. I been having trouble sleeping n my mood swings are getting worse n thoughts off suicide have cross my mind when I lose my temper cause of my mood swings and nightmares..... so I went to my appointment and told the psychiatrist how I felt but instead she is telling me im feeling this way cause of alcohol and she wont treat me for ptsd unless I do an 8 week alcohol program and attend a few AA meeting... IDK what else to do it seems shes blaming all my problems to alcohol.. I guess I just have to wait and see what happens,

3. ptsd Confused And Don't Know Where To Turn

   I am a Gulf War 1 vet. I was in Dhahran, SA from Nov 90 to May 91. Shortly after I returned home they disbanded my unit and I was on my own. I walked away from everything even remotely related to the war/military and never looked back. Friends, home, hobbies etc. I gave them up one by one and spent many years engaging in risky behavoir (partying, drinking etc). I stopped in 1999 and got a real job, but continued to avoid all and any reminders of the war. It soon got to the point that any reminder would make me feel like bolting, I would get lightheaded, couldn't speak a coherent sentence, had a big urge to get out and red flags waving Danger Danger. 4. ptsd New Beginning Registering For Va Mental Health Ptsd Mdd Psychotic Features

   Well today I called the Va to start mental health treatment. I was informed that I needed to register with patient services. So either today or tomorrow I will go to the mental health clinic to begin treatment. So after I go down there and see if I can be seen and helped I will update the results. Prozac seems to only help me be more social. It does nothing for my violent side. So I plan to stay in treatment until I get this mental situation under control.

5. ptsd What Can I Do

   I was just fired from my job last Monday. In the letter it stated it was because of my ptsd. I am a mechanic. I understand my job requires me to be around loud noises. The other day my bosses 28 year old son blew an air horn six inches from my head to see me jump. I stated to never *ucking do it again. Well two days later they fired me. The letter stated that i was violent and a safety concern to other employees. The thing that gets me is they knew i had ptsd when they hired me. That did what he did to see me jump. Now i am without a job. Is this legal?

6. What Is The Purpose Of M21-1Mr Stressor Verification?

   the regional office in Houston was unable to verify a personal assault, that resulted in a full blown concussion and drastic changes in personality and conduct six months after. the navy then discharged the veteran for high year tenure. one month post discharge the veteran was diagnosed with ptsd, and assistance was refused by the VA becaused the injury was not combat related. why will the VA not use its own regulations and laws to assist this veteran? which states clearly that in personal assault injury cases a stressor may be confirmed using this regulation, M21-1MR..... please advise

7. ptsd Rammifications Of Applying For Increase

   I am currently rated at 50% for ptsd; however, my symtoms seems to have gotten worse. I now suffer from paranoia (medication); extreme anxiety and panic attacks (medication); more mood swings, and I now am a permanent telecommuter working at home because I can't deal with people (rage issues). I lose track of time, can't remember things, and am seriously considering just retiring from my job. Can't take it anymore. I don't go out of the house unless absolutely necessary and my family ususally does all household chores. Do you think I should apply for an increase?

10. ptsd Do I Have A Case?

    I am just wondering if I have a case. I was a gunners mate in the navy aboard the USS DEYO. In 1981 and 1983 we got assigned for special Operation mission off the coast of El salvadore, Honduras and niceragua. I believe it was called jittery prop. The ship was sent there because of the special equipment onboard to easdrop on communications. We also had a blackhawk helicopter on board with Army rangers who flew inland looking for gun runners. 11. Almost Over The Edge

    I am done. Nightmares increasing again, getting to where I'm checking over my shoulders when I go out, bill collectors driving me crazy, 70% barely pays bills, over drafting to make ends meet, haven't seen therapist since May, no appointments available before September, no female therapist available at VetCenter right now. I've done everything I can. Sick of VA, politicians and everyone else lying about help being available. This is enough to make a person breakdown. I don't have any family here. Even if they could get me in to therapist, I don't even have bus fare! Lord, I didn't make it to 52 years old to fall down now!

    hi all could someone explain to me how the va rates multple diagnoses i have mdd without phycotic features panic disorder/anxiety nos, just last week va diagnosed me with ptsd stessor verified from strs gaf score is 51 i no they rate only one mental health issue but do the others play a role in the rating sceme
