ptsd Ptsd Denial
I have been fighting for my VA benefits for 20+ years. My VA Psychiatrist wrote a letter on my behalf stating my PTSD was Service connected. I have been treated by the VA for nearly 10 years for my PTSD and other service related illnesses. I am only 10% service connected right now for migraines. Washington DC has denied me 3x saying my Psychiatrists letter was heresay and she based her information only on what I have told her. If the VA is treating me fro PTSD when why are they not compensating me for my PTSD!! I also have Fibromyalgia, Panic Anxiety Disorder, Sleep Disorder, Endometrosis (Not cureable) Loss of a tube and Ovary while in Service, MVA on base, the lis…

ptsd Please Help ! Ptsd C & P Next Week
Hello all (New to this), I inititiated my claim upon my release from the USAF in 1996 (honorable discharge). It included claims for: dyspepsia (claimed as gastroenteritis and severe abdomen pain), headaches (migraines), urinary tract infection, hemorhayic cystitis, axillary abscess endocervical curretings, recurring yeast infections, carpel tunnel and PTSD as a result of sexual harrassment/assault whileon AD. Per that claim I was awarded 10% for dyspepsia and 10% for headaches. Both w/ an effective date in 1996. It was stated in the reasons and bases section, that "there is no record of PTSD as the result of sexual harrassment/assault while on AD showing a chronic disa…

ptsd Being Sent To Outside Psychiatrist
The VA sent me to an outside Psychiatrist for evaluation and treatment, the Nemeyrer group is aware of my file going back to 2005, but heart condition started in 2003. PTSD Moderate to Severe Major Depressive Disorder Dissociative Amnesia The original VA Psychiatrist I was seeing was not effective in helping me. He was 23 and thought Extreme Combat was a video game. No actual Knowledge of PTSD I'm not sure he had a learners permit. I complained to the Clinic Manager, and they assigned me to a true Psychiatrist, about 50 years old and studied in the US. She is also an MD. She offered me group therapy but after reading my latest C&P for my HE…

ptsd Ptsd C&p Exam
I got a copy of my C&P exam from the local V.A. Clinic. The C&P examiner in it states that in essence that I am diagnosed with PTSD related to my combat experiences (vIetnam) and service connected them. All the symptoms were listed, medications being taken, continued trreatment through the V.A. yadayada...in the end where the Occupational and Social Imparments are listed, he put me down as having no OC imparment at all. It totally blew me away. I brought this up at my next therapy & psych appointment and was basically told that they know of this particular examiner and he always does that. What kind of crap is that ?

ptsd Family Doc Or Va Doc?
Can anyone help with this question? I'm already rated for Bipolar at 30% disorder and max for migraines (50%) due to head trauma. I was at my family Doctor's office for a check-up, and noticed that he had PTSD listed in my chart. I didn't ask him about it; wanted to check in here first. Is it worth claiming? Any suggestions?? Thanks!

ptsd Ptsd Appeal Questions
I first filed my claim for PTSD in Oct. 2007 along with other items. It was denied along with some of the others. then the rest goes like this for the PTSD: 05/30/2008Local VA Office Decision RO 06/01/2009Notice of Disagreement (NOD) RO 06/09/2009Appeal Pending BVA 11/13/2009Statement of the Case (SOC) RO 11/20/2009Substantive Appeal (Form 9) So then the new regs came out and I just was recently told I needed to send in something stating that I wanted a re-review of my information due to the new regs. I called the VA yesterday and they said that someone (a rater) is what I was told had looked at the file and I should be receiving a SSOC by the end of the month but that …

ptsd New Ptsd Claim And C&p Exam
Hey everyone, I hope this is the right category. I gotta tell you... I want to scream, cry, run, and frankly just give up. I had the most horrible time this morning at my C&P exam for PTSD. I read lots of the info on exams and I though... I was good to go. I go in ready to spill all those things that hurt inside and cause me trouble to this day. This Doc. started the talk, it lasted an hour and pretty much covered nothing. I tried to talk about my experiences, etc and she seemed to flush all of it. Things like, "So, PTSD, whats that all about"? "What does that have to do with how you are now"? "Well, you seem to be ok". All of this and much much mo…

ptsd Va Meeting Last Wednesday
Went with my husband to the VA again on Wednesday. He has a new rep who did not treat him well the first time he met her. She gave him her email address so we could email any questions or concerns. We emailed back and forth a bit. I told her we appreciate what she does for our Veterans, etc. I asked her if she would please review his file so she could familiarize herself with Gary's file before we got there. We arrived on time, walked in, she never looked up at us. Kept looking at a piece of paper and said "What do you want?" Still NO eye contact. She had told us to get a letter from Gary's primary care physician stating that he has a current chronic me…

ptsd Cognitive-Processing Therapy?
My husband has 50% PTSD, but 70% total, and he recently had to do Cognitive-Processing Therapy in order to help or heal his PTSD. It was a 12 week course that was supposed to make him better, but it made things worse. He used to wake up every night with nightmares, and before his “treatment” it went down to two-three times a week. Now it’s back to the way it was. When the psychiatrist had him write about his traumatic event, it has brought everything back to the front, and now that he is in between social workers and Psychiatrists he has no one to talk to. It’s not like he trusts anyone anymore, but anything was better than nothing. Has anyone had this Cognitive therapy w…

ptsd Ptsd/bcnr Question
Hello all, New member here. I have a question that hopefully some more experienced members here can answer or even possibly give guidance. I am a service connected veteran rated at 30%. Served in the Navy from 92-96. One thing when I was seperated for was PTSD, noted as a condition existing prior to service. When I had my medical board prior to that decision, I argued that the condition itself was one that aggravated by service because I didn't have any symptons until well in service. The board basically denied my claim due to lack of anything referencing that when the doctor made the findings for seperation. I argued that the initial doctor (who at the time was T…

ptsd Fast Track And Cue
Once again, this is something NO one has told my husband. He has applied for an increase in his PTSD and had 2 appts. with C & P. He's currently rated for 50% PTSD and 10 % hearing. (This was awarded to him through a Veterans Rep Office in Tulare Ca. in 2002.) He has kept every appointment with the VA in Fresno and under the care of a primary care physician and psychologist since then. In May of 2010 we heard gunshots outside our home. Gary ran toward the gunfire. He saw our neighbor fall from being shot. He turned him on his side so he would not choke on his blood and held pressure on his wounds. When the police arrived, they told him it was not considered a crime…
