ptsd Ptsd Claim Denied - TRIGGERS
I'm so upset right now, I can scream. I want to run, cry, shout, and then curl up and bed and sleep a few weeks. If I sound distressed, I am. The sad part is I feel like I'm being violated all over again. It's been approx 20 years since my stressor occurred. I was assaulted while asleep in the barracks. Let me first state that I was in the Army Reserve, and on annual training when this happen. I didn't know the guy, nor had I ever seen him before. I do know that the MP's apprehended him the same night. Apparently I was taken to the hospital, I have no memory of what happen after the incident. The next thing I remember was taking a polygraph. I'm sure of the re…

ptsd Ptsd And Getting Ready To Retire
Hello everyone! I have been reading comments on this forum and I'm a little concerned about what to expect from the VA. I have been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and PTSD related to my service in Iraq. I am an Operating Room nurse but I have been removed from patient care due to my conditions, mainly panic attacks. Am under treatment but have not been able to return to patient care. All of this is documented in my mental health record by my psychiatrist. I will be retiring in less than a year (226 days to be exact). What documentation do I need besides my health record for the VA and how soon do I need to start this process. I'm the primary bread winner for ou…

ptsd New Ptsd C&p Worksheets
Saw my therapist last week , she is working on a letter for my appeal . She showed me the new C&P worksheets that they are getting ready to start using .It is only 5 pages long and were mostly yes or no boxes only. She said it seemed to be pretty cut and dry , yes or now and maybe elaborate a little on certain subjects . Said it should cut down on a rater sending it back to the DR for clarification purposes. Dr wasnt sure yet if it is a good thing or not . She wouldnt give me a copy yet as she wasn't sure when they were actually going to that format . But i did get to read it . I don't know much , but it seemed like this report would be better than the current one , …

ptsd How Do I File For A Higher Rating?
I want to file for a higher rating. I filed for PTSD in May 2010, had a C&P in June 2010. I was awarded 30% effective Jun 1, 2010, in an award letter date stamped Feb 11, 2011. Since Apr 2011, I've been seeing psychiatrists and psychologists at DeBakey VA Hospital in Houston. My chronic PTSD has been confirmed and I'm currently in treatment in the Trauma Recovery Program, Intensive Outpatient Program. I've been diagnosed with depression, also. I sense from my VA mental health doctors that I should be at least 50%. Getting 50% would give me an award over 40% (my current cumulative award right now is 70% (30%+30%+20%+10%)). This would give me what I n…

ptsd Ptsd Stressor
I have a question I was hoping you all could help me with. I have just recently decided to go ahead and file for PTSD. I understand that they will be sending me paperwork to do soon on the stressor and I want to be careful on what I put down, because we all know the VA would never screw some vet over. I worked in the fire dept. in the AF and dealt with some issues, car accidents, drownings, and a couple of f-16 crashes. The stressor I would sadly like to use is this. I joined the AF right after high school at 18. I had always lived with my older brother. A few weeks after completing basic training and while at tech school. I called home to find out that my brother…

ptsd Ptsd Stressor Is Getting In The Way Of Life
Just want to vent - don't know what to do. I had an eye appointment today. My daughter usually goes with me,or if she cannot, another sister veteran steps in. Turns out neither one could go with me today, so I decided that I could do this. Well, I was extremely anxious, but marched on. Everything fell apart when the technician walked in. I had a panic attack right in the office - the man looked exactly like my rapist. I ran out and drove home. I was a mess - still am, although a little bit calmer. I feel horrible. This man was just doing his job. I could not say what was wrong with me when they kept asking. I felt so ashamed and guilty. When does i…
