ptsd Ptsd Appeals Procedures
Good Evening Brothers and Sisters, Once again I am in a perplexed situation on what to do? I filed a claim for PTSD prior to 2007 and after the NOD'S and my Appeals I'm at the stage that presents myself with four options for a hearing to decide on my Appeal, Option 1) For me to wait to appear at an in person hearing before the Board of Veterans Appeals, what they called a "Travel Board" hearing. 2) Request a live video conference hearing before the Board of Veterans Appeal. …

ptsd 20 Years Of Ptsd
I was stabbed while on TAD to a recruiting center. I was stabbed and nearly killed by 3 gang bangers. My records show my scars and and private private hospital name but nothing about the damage. I had a transfusion and 15 ft of intestine redacted as a result and I dont have the records to show it anymore. I was in CPT but I have a hard time rehashing the trauma as it makes me angrier and angrier. My question is, I have been seen by a shrink who has put me provasin. Is this effective medicine? Also I am very paranoid of the VA and docs in general. I did see my GAF was 45. I got my records to see what was being put down in them. i found them to contain 1/2 sta…

ptsd Defining A Stressor
bumping this up for local vet to read: it was a post I made here in 2009: Posted 24 November 2009 - 10:56 AM Definition of a Stressor: "The VA defines a stressor based on the DMS –IV (Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) thus: “the person experienced, witnessed,or was confronted with an event or events that involved actual or threathened death or serious injury,or a threat to the physical integrity of self or others, and the person’s response involved intense fear, helplessness, or horror.” A stressor also involves having persistent traumatic re- occurences of the event- such as flashbacks, external reminders of the stressor, distre…

Just got a letter that my psychiatrist wrote for me, hope it helps we win with both my VA claim and with the ssd. This is what she wrote. Tell me what you think (John999, berta, T, and carlie) about it, and any others that may like to help me out. I am writing to provide documentation for -------- regarding her psychiatric history and employability. I am her primary VA psychiatrist since Nov. 2009. During this time, she has experienced persisting mental health symptoms, including anxiety, panic attacks, sleep disturbance, mood swings, withdrawal from others, depressed mood, low enery, and one manic episode. She is diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress disorder have limi…

ptsd Ptsd Claim, Can't Use Attorney Yet
Hello, I posted a question on this board a couple of days ago regarding a PTSD claim I currently have filed, have only had two responses. I did email a copy of the latest paperwork to two attorneys, however both replied back since the claim was filed before 2007, I cannot seek councel until the claim is denied, or if I am unhappy with the award. They did both however ask me to contact them at a later date, I did email them the latest remand I have from VA. This has been going on for over 7 years, needless to say I am a little frustrated. I have pretty much filed everything on my own to date, I know this was not the smartest thing to do now. Is there anyone on th…

ptsd Independent Med. Opinion
Greetings... My claim PTSD/TDIU has been in for about 7 months, in the meantime I have learned a whole lot from the great people on this site. I get extremely anxious (often) about this whole deal... or just too depressed to do anything. This morning is better. I think I have decided (I've made an appointment) to have an independent Phd. psychologist do an exam. He has agreed to write a nexus letter provided I bring all records, VA psychiatrists notes, and a sample letter. This will cost me $500-600 ...which I definitely cannot afford as I am unemployed and without much in resources. From what I read on here and other sites though, the IMO can be very persuasive …

ptsd Diagnosed With Ptsd
Hello Everyone, I retired 3 MINUTES AGO & was just diagnosed as having PTSD 2 days ago. I went in to just get a prescription refill on one of my meds & I saw a different doctor that I hadn't seen in approx 6 months. He retired not too long after my mom's murder, so he hasn't been following me. I didn't mention anything about PTSD to the doc. He said I was suffering from it, due to how I was acting & the problems I was having, etc. He even pulled out a book on PTSD & read aloud the signs & said, "Now, tell me which one of those don't you have"? I knew I was suffering, but I thought it was all from depression or I would've gotten help 9 months ago. I th…

ptsd Mst Question
I am a survivor of MST. But my thing is is that that the military therapists diagnosed me with major depressive disorder before getting out because I never told them that I had a stalker that would break into my bks room and steal personal objects, tear up pictures of me and my fiancé and left blood all over my carpet and bathroom. This went on for months. Finally after the blood issue when I went to report the issues the military police didn't take me seriously and laughed at me and asked me if me if I wanted them to take DNA samples off the carpet and basically blew it off. they asked if I had receipts for my objects and maybe I could be reimbursed for them. it was a j…
