Increase Submitted 12/10/10
Yup...we are approaching the year mark. I have been to all of my appointments, therapy, and group therapy. they have played with my meds countless times. I have no idea if i am coming or going half the time. I don't go out in public unless it is for an appointment or for the most basic of needs and even then it is with my service dog. I have insomnia 3 or 4 days a week. I don't have any contact with anyone other than hadit and my shrink or the people i see weekly in my group. i am going to an intensive inpatient treatment center as soon as they approve the application according to my doc. I called the 1800 number to see what was going on with my claim and it finally moved…

ptsd Mental Health Department And Ptsd
Did a walk-in at the VA hospital Mental health department. That's where the Primary nurse in Clinic 11 said I could get my prescription for Lyrica. Thats cool. Well they made me fill out some form's about my history. Then thing got bad, a psycho Doctor with PA met with me . It started nice, and i could see that they were not going to give me nothing. They started asking about my drinking, what i think of Vietnam, do i belevie in God, did i have good parents and it went on, they were going to tear me down. Oh, we will maybe give you Cymbalta. Next thing they said, you should maybe go to one of our support meeting, you will like these people. A lot of them have PTSD! Th…

ptsd Ssdi Exam Because Va Dropped The Ball Again
I am a bit scared as I write this. I am currently at 30% for PTSD thru the VA and 100% for SSDI via the Social Security Administration. To make a long story short, I fought for over two years and had an attorney to finally win my SSDI. The VA is still giving me the run around but they screwed me big time. The Social Security Administration requested three times from the VA for my C file and the VA blew them off. I have physical copies of my C file which is almost 400 pages and also have it as a PDF file. I got a letter from the Department of Assistive and Rehabiliative Services Division for Disability Determination Services who are part of the SSA. I called my case worker…

ptsd Part Of My Journey
Hi Hadit Family. As my time since I have recognize, been diagnose, and been thru C&P for my trauma. I "We" still have to live with the thoughts, anxiety, depressions, dreams and so on. Not an easy journey for most, if not all. I, found that an inspection of my thoughts was necessary, to avoid the before mention symptoms, So I turn to Mindfulness Meditation, to be aware of my life as I lived it with PTSD. I had to slow my racing thoughts in my head that did not make me sleep, this did not happen over night. I had to slow myself down, even while not living the life I once knew, meaning "I was not doing anything" As I sit, and sit, nothing seems to be happening, …

Depressive And Anxiety Disorders, Not Otherwise Specified
I would appreciate any help in this matter I have. I received my P&T 100% status in october of 2011, for Depressive and anxiety disorders, not otherwise specified . However, they scheduled me for an exam in 2017, im curious as to what thats about. I know I need to keep seeing my Psychiatrist and the Mental health counselor/social worker I see. However, I talked to the VSO and he said he never heard of a person that gets 100% p&T getting scheduled for an exam after being awarded the decison for 100% P&T. Sorry if I am rambling my concentration is so bad. Anyway, does anyone knwo why I would get scheduled for an exam in 2017?

ptsd Help With Assault Claim
I have a friend (Female) that has just been approved a 20% rating for MST/PTSD (Due to an assault while in the military). They paid her retroactive back to the date of actual claim. I thought that she should have been paid back to the date of the assault. She is so traumatized by the assault that she is almost REFUSING to go back to her representives (DAV) and ask for an appeal for an increase in rating. She just doesn't want to continue to re-live that day in particular! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Greg

ptsd Competency
Have a quick question. I just received my PTSD packet which the VA found me at 50%. In the packet there was a little section in it that read " A finding for incompetency is proposed". Talking with my VA rep here in town I was told that it is exactly as read they believe that I am incompetent to manage my money. I have managed my funds for the last 10 years including my mortgage with very few problems. Is this incompetency something that is placed on most people that file PTSD claims? I am fighting with myself if I want to fight the finding or not. The VA said that I am very close to 70% and that is what I have been told I am actually at if not more. My GAF score was 44…

ptsd What Is A Stressor
I just realised today that my other posts on this had links that no longer work. It all bears repeating. I found this in my docs from years ago and added the new PTSD reg part. The new PTSD regs have made it easier for OIF OEF veterans to have their stressors conceded by the VA. However for vets not falling under these new regs, either they need a CAR,CIB, or PH on their DD 214s for VA to concede stressor or they must give the VA enough details to have JSRRC verify the stressor. JSRRC ( Joint Services Records Research Center) A veteran can write to JSRRC themselves for verification of their stressor. In some cases that is a good idea because VA has denied …

Service Dog Agency
The more I have thought about service dogs, the more I am sure I want one regardless of the VA decision. I think it would change my life. I cannot be in places with lots of people, cannot walk over pedestrian overpasses, have to leave movies to get re-grounded and get through a panic attack and so on... Any suggestions for a good agency?

ptsd Ptsd Cannot Verify Stressor
Forgive my ignorance here. I'm still learning. My husband is being treated for PTSD/Depression thru VA psychiatrist. He is on SSDI for anxiety disorder. But I'm afraid he cannot prove his stressor. He doesn't have any combat medals or ribbons. He did serve in a combat zone. We did manage to get a newspaper article on the supposed attack (the stressor) and a buddy letter but I'm told that it's not good enough. I realize now that we should have put in a claim for Depression the same time we put in for PTSD. Can he put in another claim for PTSD and Depression or put in a new claim for depression? We haven't gotten a response on the PTSD claim yet but without a str…

ptsd Please Read- Don't Remember
For several months I have been stating that the VA just sent me a letter for a re-examination of my PTSD. That it was the VA, that I had not sent in any request for an increase. Well, I talked to my Lawyer's office, and they informed me that I had sent in a request for an increase. I still do not recall doing this. Papa
