This Stressor Thing Blows My Mind - *TRIGGERS*
Good for you. Keep the faith . I keep reading the deffinition of a stressor and even though it is in black and white, it really drives me batty. "Fear for your life or the life of others." I mean have a heart. How about a "reasonable person clause". " exposure to extreme war time sights, sounds or smells that would cause any reasonable person extreme emotional distress. I believe we are just touching the tip of the iceburg with the Vietnam vets when they come out of the woodwork in their mid 60's. I, myself will be able to provide the VA with a government document with…

ptsd Ptsd, Hardship, And Confusion
My husband filed a claim in Jan 2010. On his 3rd Therapist for PTSD (now with a reffered pvt. PTSD specialist) and as of Nov. 5 the claim was tagged ready to rate and suposedly yesterday the ratings lady requested his file. We are about to loose our home, vehicles, utilities, etc. Santa is "having trouble with his sleigh and coming late"( In all the years helping with Toys for Tots we never expected our children to be in need of such a program). We read on here about a hardship and filed our eviction notice with the claims counselor today. I called the TAP line and informed them of the new therapists statements regarding the exam and her contact info. I was crying so im…

ptsd New Ptsd Regs
This is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOVA petitions the Court because the rule, as revised, established an arbitrary requirement that under certain conditions only Department of Veterans Affairs ("VA") examiners can corroborate a stressor which a veteran claims caused his or her Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder ("PTSD"). Contrary to law, the Secretary failed to provide any basis for such a fundamental change to the longstanding acceptance of diagnoses from qualified private examiners, and indeed there is no such basis. The Secretary thus exceeded his authority and promulgated an arbitrary rule elevating the opinion of a VA examiner over a private…

ptsd Put Off Accepting I Had Ptsd
After keeping everything inside of 40 years my VASO suggested that I put in a claim for PTSD. I guess I always knew that there was something there that wasn't right. Nightmares, hypervigulance, deep fear of the dark were just a few things that I have been living with all these years. After a lot of thought and searching I finally filed the claim. After doing so I spent countless nights worrying about what would come next. The C&P exam scarred me to death because I knew that they would bring up things I have spent a long time trying to forget. The day of the exam came and from the start I began to feel a little better about the process. The psychologist a…

ptsd New Ptsd Regs In Action
There are only a few cases so far that have been resolved at the BVA due to the new regs. "Because the Board has found that the Veteran suffers from PTSD, if the stressor or stressors upon which the diagnosis is based is/are consistent with the nature of the Veteran's service, service connection for PTSD will be granted. 38 C.F.R. § 3.304(f) (effective July 13, 2010). The June 2004 VA examiner based his diagnosis on the Veteran's reaction to experiencing the sounds of warfare to include rockets and flares. The Veteran's official duties were clerical. These duties certainly would not prevent him from hearing the frightening sounds of warfare while …

ptsd Mental And Working
I've read that a rating of 100% for a mental condition and working is a no-no. My question is can a person work who is rated 100% from a combination of different factors such as 50% Ptsd, 50% for something else (not mental), scars, bad knees, ankels and so forth be allowed to work? I havent gotten my rating yet and one of my primary concerns is being able to work regradless of my over all rating. At 44 years old I can't imagine not working. Thanks.

ptsd New Ptsd Regs
Vync posted this info some time ago-there are some dates here to consider as to whether you fall into the new PTSD criteria. "Here's the new PTSD FAQ: http://www.va.gov/PTSD_QA.pdf From the new FAQ, you should be able to determine how your claim fits into this criteria. Quick Facts: This new rule is for Veterans of any era. The new rule will apply to claims: - received by VA on or after July 13, 2010; - received before July 13, 2010 but not yet decided by a VA regional office; - appealed to the Board of Veterans' Appeals on or after July 13, 2010; - appealed to the Board before July 13, 2010, but not yet decided by the Board; and - pending before VA on …
