  1. Thank you, Carlie. You are the lady with all the claims experience and I will follow your advice.
  2. I have my initial claim submitted and it will be 13 months on Feb 23. Is it too late to file hardship. My vso told me that on 1/25/2012 it went to a second rater for some reason. Yes, it is getting difficult financially to get by because my Dr. told me to stop working. Any suggestions as to filing for hardship?
  3. Congratulations! From my observation, it appears you were mentored by the best! @Berta<
  4. I have to agree with Donna. I had QTC contact me on a Wed. and ask me if I could make it the following Tue. to which I said yes. Not much notice, but I went and arrived 1 hour ahead of time. Also the Va appt center will not have a QTC appt listed.
  5. You are absolutely right, Donna. The Qtc C&P exam I had on Nov 1, 2011 in Houston went in a similar fashion. I arrived promptly forty-five minutes prior to my appointment. The pschiatrist came and got me almost an hour past my 2:30 pm appt. She was very cordial. During the entire exam she asked me questions and entered my responses in the computer. It sure saved me a lot of aggravation on my carpal tunnel!
  6. Mystic, Just checked that link is not working?
  7. VA Form 21-0781a Statement In Support Of Claim For Service Connection For Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Secondary To Personal Assault This is the form I used for my stressor letter.
  8. I know the feeling....it IS tough reading and reliving. But once its done, you will feel better. Think of it as your redemption. Try working on it a little each day. When it gets to be too much put it aside and take a break.....
  9. "It is as least likely as not." These are the words you want from the examiner. Sounds like you have a favorable C&P exam!
  10. Hi, Capt. C...Your claim was with Houston Varo right? See my thread about Houston below...some activity with claim.
  11. Glad you finally got some news. Keep fighting and you will prevail in the end! Get well...
  12. Just a little information I found while preparing my claim last January. US Veterans Compensation Programs has some very good examples of stressor letters. Once you are at the site, check the drop down on the left about two-thirds down. Three sections to the format: Life Before Military Service: Life During Military Servive and Life After Military Service. Helpful for all PTSD claims including PTSD/MST.
  13. Glad you got on ebenefits. See how easy it was once you got the info. Just make sure you don't forget your passcode. The system locked me out after 3 failed attempts and I had the wrong answer on a security question. I got the folks that issued the acct on the phone and I was able to go to my healthevet and reset my passcode with them on the phone. This was after I had the acct for awhile.
  14. Very good info! This is my initial claim. I filed Jan 23, 2011 w/ 7 contentions plus Tdiu. I was advised by a Vso before she transferred from Houston to NM to submit Tdiu. I'm definitely glad there is activity with my claim. My mindset prior to this was "HOUSTON.....We Have A Problem!"
  15. Well, I called my vso at the Houston Dav and to my surprise I not only got someone on the phone but she also transferred me to my vso! I was told my claim was given to a second rater on Jan. 25. I asked if he thought they would complete by Mar. 1 and he said "yes". Any suggestions as to why given to 2nd rater? I'm just elated that there is life @ Houston RO.
  16. My bank down here in good ole friendly east Texas has no problem with letting me know when I have my Ssd coming through. I suggest calling tomorrow after lunch and Friday. I know how important this is for you...
  17. Hey Buddy, Glad you're back....yeah it makes sense but we're talking about Va and the government....I guess they have to follow procedures to cover their rears. I think within the week your acct will have it. Let us know.
  18. I have records from my other units during the early 70's when I went in the first time. All personnel actions etc. Specifically this pertains to a unit in Germany. I have 4 DD214's and 3 Mos. And it seems that I have all my medical records from all 3 periods of service.
  19. Prior to filing my claim in Jan 2011 I requested all records from St. Louis. Upon receiving them I discovered some missing. These were while I was assigned as an intelligence analyst (98J). I called STL and was told all records were sent. I had a very high security clearance ~Top Secret with SCI(sensitive compartmented information access) HHC 312th MI BN 1st Calvary Division. I wonder if my job description had anything to do with these missing personnel files.
  20. Congratulations! It was very nice of you to help another veteran. After all....that's what its all about.
