diabetes High Blood Pressure And Diabetes 2

I had a few high reading of high blood sugar while active duty,had high blood pressure in the army. I am tring to connect the two to say my high sugar readings and high blood pressure are a pre-cussor for Diabetes 2. I can use any help out there to explain.

You need to get a doctor to review your medical records and state that your DMII and HBP started in service. How long have you been out and are you diabetic now? You need what we call an independent medical opinion to make the link or nexus statement. The VA won't do it.

You must of seen a Doc. before entering service? Get his record, Hope you live in the same state! Or go an see a doc. now and get him to check you out . If you feel that the service's has gave you problem's don't back down, THAT AND ORDER!!!!

Thanks for replying back HadIt.com Elder,I was rated at 0% service connected for HPB, I had made copies of my med records when I retired from the army, when I was diagnosed 2 years ago with Diabetes 2, I was told that you dont wake up one day and het Diabetes.The nuse said its been in your system prob for a while.Since I attended the Diabetes briefing at the VA hospital I looked at my medical records when I was active duty.I went ans spoke to the Diabeted nurse at the VA and she said after revieving my medical record that I should file for a claim for Diabetes.Iwent to see a civilain doc a few months ago to try and provide a letter , he said he didnt see a proble.He was through Tricare. During my C&P THE DOCTOR HAD NO QUESTIONS ABOUT MY DIABETES.The doctor said when I met him all your results are in the computer ans well as your lab results.I wore my Diabetes shoes and socks to the brief and he did see them but had no questions about my Diabetes.Please reply back.Looking for quidance here.Thank you.

Good advise here.

You have potential with the inservice glucose readings as well as SC HBP at "0" to get these both service connected.

Either HBP as due to the Diabetes, or both stemming from your service.

HBP standing alone does not indicate DMII.

Only a good independent endocrinologist or diabetes specialist can really connect those dots for you.

What do you get the 50% for now? I am asking to see if ypour current SC would have any relationship to HBP or the DMII.

Also,in 1997 the World Health Org changed the classification of diabetes.

The inservice glucose readings might not have prompted a DMII diagnosis then but would have today if you served prior to the new Glucose classifications of DMII.

Those new 1997 guidelines were very instrumental in my DMII claim for my deceased husband and my IMO doc used those facts to support his opinions.

My internet is acting up-when it clears up I will provide some links to the new classification.

most of the time type 2 diabetes comes before the high blood pressure. diabetes is the "silent Killer" is what they call it because it distories your body and all major organs without you knowing it until it's to late. So take warning if you have type 2 diabetes and do what you need to do to keep from going on insulin or other medications. I wish someone had told me to walk 2 miles a day and go on a diabetic diet when I came down with diabetes. I had a friend who came down with diabetes and I told him to walk 2 miles a day , watch what he ate and in three months he had lost 33 lbs and didn't require any medications at that time. Wish I was that lucky.
