Appeal Decision
Today I received my decision from the appeals management center. First I have 20% rating for gerd since 99. In 2000 I went to va hospital for severe stomach pain. They told me that I had to have an appendectomy. But when I woke up they had perform an appendectomy and a right hemicolectomy for a perforated right diverticulum. So I file for that it was service connected and that I be paid 100% for the time I was off work. They approve the claim, paid 100% for the time off work and gave me 20% for the diverticulosis, but said that disabilities of the digestive system will not be combined with each other. So a single evaluation will be assigned under the diagnostic code, so…

Fraud Alert
Vets and spouses can call Transunion at 1-800-680-7289 and have a fraud alert put in their file. I just did it for me and my wife. It is free and they share the alert with all the other credit bureaus. If someone tries to open an account in your name you have to give your permission first.

Heat On The Secretary
from : http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/poli...82_watch24.html : WASHINGTON — Veterans Affairs officials waited two weeks to call in the FBI to investigate the theft of sensitive personal data, delaying a warning to 26.5 million veterans now at risk in one of the nation's largest security breaches. Lawmakers from both parties demanded answers. Burglars struck the suburban Maryland home of the VA data analyst in early May, taking a government-owned laptop and disks containing the names, Social Security numbers and birth dates of veterans discharged since 1975. But the FBI wasn't notified until late last week, two law-enforcement officials said Tuesday, spe…

Little Help On Competency Issue
Hi to all - been so busy I haven't been around for a while. Im helping out another vet that has brought me his records, I've actually seen them so I feel everything with him is legit. His VA letter of 1992 states, " You are considered to be 100 percent permanently and totally disabled for Department of Veterans Affairs purposes. You are no longer subject to routine future examinations to determine if your condition has improved ". His VA disability is listed as : PSYCHOSIS. UNDIFF- 100 % (SC). He at that time was declared to be incompetant to handle his own funds so his mother was made his payee, a few years after that his mother passed away and his sister bec…

Va Records
I have decided to sign up for the Equifax gold. My home insurance has insurance to cover this however it will pay legal expenses not alert me when something is going on. I do believe I am going to send a bill for this service to the Department of Veteran Affairs. It will cost them $11.95 for 3 months and then $99.95 for a year. I believe I get a month free. The Equifax program watches all three agencies and then sends alerts to any changes. It has $20,000 coverage with no deduction and 24 hour customer service. My bank has asssured me that they will respond correctly if I watch my account closely which I do anyway. This entire thing smells, I am angry that I am in…

Update More On Va Data Heist
Greetings to all, Though you might find this information interesting reading. God bless you all. Bound4Heaven UPDATE: MORE ON VA DATA HEIST -- INFORMATION KEPT SECRET FOR 19 DAYS -- AND, WHAT WAS THERE TO ANALYZE? -- THE MORE WE LEARN, THE LESS IT MAKES SENSE Background with back links here... http://www.vawatchdog.org/old%20newsflashe...5-23-2006-9.htm This story makes less and less sense. The major question here is: What was there to analyze? If the only thing stolen was name, DoB and SSN...there wasn't anything for the data analyst to analyze. If there were addresses and disability information or medical information...then you hav…

Two Va Programs I Just Found Out About
I just found out about a couple of VA programs and thought I'd pass this along, just in case other veterans don't know about them. I was trying to get better managed medical care for my husband when I came across this information. The first one is called the Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM). This is a team that manages complex medical needs that older veterans often have, such as medication overload, dementia, mobility, etc. It isn't available at all VA facilities, but probably at most of the larger ones. The other is Home Based Primary Care. A medical team brings the "clinic" to veterans who have difficulty getting to and from their appointments. It is …
