  1. Capt C, Thank you for your response, I have not yet filed a claim for the Camp Lejeune water, I am afraid that it might hold up my current claim, so I will wait until this claim is over and then file.I was notified by the Marine Corps in 2008. I am number 433 on their registry.I have also filed out the health survey that was sent to me several times.Filing out a claim on this is going to take a lot out of me, and sometimes I just don't have the energy or the will, but I do know it's important so I will get it done with some help from my friends. Berta, thank you so much for the information that you have provided, I will surly go through it. Thank you both, and Happy New Years. Aggie
  2. Capt, I've had high blood pressure since a very young age. Since stationed with the Marines in Camp Lejuene N.C. in 1976 and was introduced to the contaminated waters there.Since then I retired in 2010 and I also claimed for Hypertension which has been noted in my health records for the longest. I am currently pending a deferred rating for it as we speak.I am having a bunch of exams on the 9th of this month by my private doctor. I have been provided medication for High blood pressure by the VA for the longest. I currently have several medical conditions that are service connected, but yet having to wait for the VA to rate 6 other issues. I hope this comment makes since, cause it's very early and I can't sleep due to anxiety and other stuff due to the lost of vision of my left eye.Hopefully I made a little since of it all. Thank you for the information, I'm sure I will be using it when the time comes. Happy New Years Capt. Aggie
  3. Papa, I have the same thing. I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea and the kicking part was diagnosed as Restless Leg Syndrome.I also kick all over while I'm sleeping. Hope this helps. Aggie
  4. miriffraff It took around 60 days for me to receive retro once Dfas audit pay records and returned back to VA, Then VA deposited retro pay direct deposit to my bank. Congrats on your rating, and thank you for your service. Aggie
  5. By the VA calculator you are at 84.691% which they should only be paying you for 80% because they round to the closest 10th.
  6. I believe it's because of the small raise we got and will be receiving on the 1st of Jan,2012.
  7. Thanks Hamslice for the prompt reply. Same here, I put my claim in July 2010 a few months before I retired from the Army, and in March 2012 was rated 90% service connected with retro paid back till the day after I retired which was Sept 1, 2010, but they deferred my left eye which is blind with only having light perception. ED due to Diabetes II, Hypertension, and a few other things. I then put in for IU due to not being able to work due to my service connected disabilities. I am also receiving SSD because of my issues. Thank you so much for answering my question, I just didn't know why they deferred my issues since they are all service connected. Hopefully they hurry and come back with a decision soon so I can put all this behind and start with a new chapter of my life. I am currently taking advantage of my Post 9-11 GI Bill because I need the money to support my family, but I am having such a hard time due to my vision and headaches that come from it. Sorry for such a long reply, just had to get it out, sorry. Thanks. Aggie....
  8. So can someone help answer this question? When the claim go's back to review of evidence from pending notification, do they just review just the issues that were deferred or do they review the decisions that were awarded prior to the issues deferred in the same claim. Thanks in advance.
  9. Good for you. Happy Holidays and thank you for your service.
  10. I retired from the Military and both my wife and I had Tricare Prime with a co-payment of $12 dollars. Shortly after I retired i recieved my social security so I was given Medicare as being my primary and tri-care as secondary. I no longer have a deductable nor a co-payment for tri-care, but my wife still has tri-care with a deductable and the $12 co-payment. Plus I also have VA health care for my service connected disabilities. I was told by tri-care that I had to except medicare in order to continue insurance through tri-care as a secondary. Hope this is helpful.
  11. Welcome Marine. Are you or have you applied for Social Security due to your service connected disabilities and also not being able too work? If you have, then you must be receiving Medicare , if so you also have the option to see an outside doctor and he might be able to help you receive the medications that you so desperately need for your pain. Hope everything works out for you. Semper Fi.
  12. My claim did the same thing as yours a few days ago. I also filed in May 2010. So you're not alone my friend. Good luck, and may the good lord have mercy on all of us with the VA.
  13. Wild, They even work on Sundays there? Man, I'd be lucky just to get a hold of someone here durning normal working hour durning the week, let alone on a Sunday! Good for you. Well, mine has actually been in for 28 months and in the Review Of Evidence Stage for 6 deferred contents that weren't decided the first time they give me a partial rating. But, honestly I haven't heard of "Special Ops" and what their job is. Hopefully, it's a good thing, and you get your claim decided really soon. Good luck, and Happy Veterans day too you as well.
  14. I was able to log in, but I didn't notice any changes on my end...
  15. Patriotn11, I hope your right cause they also had all my stuff jack up! I was Pending Notification, then went to Review Of Evidence what the heck. My stuff is due to deferred contentions that they didn't rate the first time around. I don't know what's up with the VA, but they need to get their stuff together!! Happy Veterans Day....
  16. Mine is doing the same thing. I was a little worry, cause I thought it was only mine. But as I can see it's not personal. It's the system. Don't worry we'll be ok....
  17. They always put an effective date different than the filed date. You will be paid retro back to the date that it shows on E-Benefits. Congrats.
  18. Make sure you keep your eye on your Annual or Changed RAS and your Monthly Retiree Account Statement (eRAS) for any changes. Good Luck...
  19. This also happen too me.My claim was filed July 25,2010. I retired Aug 31,2010. I was also granted 90% effective date of March 1,2012, but they retro paid to the day after I retired. I still have several contentions pending so I keep going back and forth from Pending Notification to Review of Evidence. I am also receiving my retirement check from DFAS and the VA. DFAS only deducted $5.00 as a VA waiver fee. Don't worry you should receive your retro soon. Only thing is that I received my brown envelope than the retro followed several weeks later. Good luck and hang in there.
  20. Yep, like PainterBK said, dont worry about that date. They will pay you back pay to the date they recieved it, that happen too me. My effective date 3/2012 but they paid back from the day after I retired which was Sept 1,2010. So you will be fine. Congrats
  21. Thanks broncovet for the info,I see what you mean, but my claim never went to an appeal status, when they granted me the 90% in May they deferred a few contentions, I never appealed their other rating decisions yet cause I wanted them to finish up on my initial claim, so I have been waiting on their decisions on the items that they had deferred. Hopefully their decision is a good one so I wont have to appeal cause I know that could probably mean months before I hear anything back from them. Either way, thank you so much for some insights on the process of it all. God Bless. Aggie.....
  22. Well after 2 1/2 years and after being awarded 90% in May 2012, and a few contentions deferred, and going back to review of evidence due to further documents requested for my left eye blindness and a few other things, I finally went to Pending of Notification today, but, I didn't see a difference in my rating as of yet. Is that normal, that they notify you first then they correct the % if found at the 100% level with IU? I was actually given 93%, but of course we only get paid for 90%.I also didn't see any letters on the letter generator showing any changes. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Aggie....
  23. Sleep Apena is an automatic 50%, make sure you have it on your Medical record, which I know you do. Once you get out, VA will have you go through their sleep study only to vertify it for themselves, and find you rated at 50% service connected. I did.. Good luck..
  24. Congrats, on your possible rating. I am also at 90% service connected with several contentions still pending, and at the review of evidence stage. I retired 2 years ago, and before they gave me a temp rating my claim also went from preparation of notifaction to review of evidence then they notified me that I had been awarded 90% with several contentions Pending. Then several weeks went by and I received a big retro check. So don't worry, it's all good and you should get somthing in the mail, and in the bank really soon. Best of luck. Aggie
