  1. People think we are paranoid for thinking the government is just waiting for us to die. It may be cynical, but it is true. If they cared they would not have stalled on so many presumptives for 40 years.
  2. Wait until you get cataract surgery! Your new vision will be like when the movie "Wizard of Oz" goes from black and white to color. Can you believe the VA would not go cataract surgery for me, but medicare paid for it. I got a great doctor and a near perfect result. I had no idea how blind I was until 20 minutes after surgery. It was instant and pain free surgical success.
  3. The VA is kicking the AO cancer presumptive down the road as far as they can becauses they will soon be burying most of us in the next 20 years. The budget cutters look at Vietnam veterans as fossils. We are somewhere between welfare mothers and street people to these guys. The US forgot the Korean War and forgot the Vietnam war with "extream prejudice".
  4. Consider once again that the VA does not do their own research on AO. That is done by IOM when they get the grant money. I think every cancer should be presumptive for AO since AO contains dioxins. What I think does not count. If the whole presumptive process goes slowly thousands of RVN vets willl be buried without compensation. This makes many people happy.
  5. He probably means you are service connected for PTSD. That is the biggest victory you will ever have. Now the rest will be bumping up the percentage. Who knows what the rating will be based only on that guy's statement.
  6. You know if you have a psychotic disorder that is in at least partial remission the VA often rates a vet as 50-70%. If you are 70% for psychotic disorder most of those people can't hold a job so TDIU is the plan.
  7. I think you are going to get 100% so just wait until you get your rating. If the rating has been made do nothing to slow your rating letter. You don't want this thing thrown back into development stage. I will go out on a limb and say you will get 100% because your exam doctor went all out to see that you got a good rating. He stuck his neck way out there from reading your exam. He called your PTSD "formidable". That to me means 100%. Just sit tight. Anything you do now will just slow it down. I know you feel desparate, but just try and relax for a few more weeks. Think about your treatment.
  8. When I was waiting for my decision for TDIU I lost 20 lbs. I could not eat. I could not sleep. I think based on your C&P you have a very good shot at 100%, but when that will happen I could not say except you are closer than farther to a decision. I also got SSD in about 4 months. The VA played games with me for about a year. Everyone wishes you well. Stay in treatment and get to a vet center if you can. Don't give up no matter what happens. John
  9. Is 125 bucks what Fee Base usually pays per month or does it depend on your SC conditions? I can't see a dentist for 125 bucks.
  10. RIGHT, failure is not an option! You are going to win your claim. That is just all there is to it.
  11. I think either a revolver or a shotgun are best. With the revolver all you have to do is grab it and pull the trigger if it is loaded. With the shotgun even with shaky and scared hands if you point in the general direction of the bad guy you are probably going to ruin his day. There are many good and different opinions on this subject. I think the dog idea is best. People don't shoot their wives or husbands by mistake with a dog. The thing is if you are in a gunfight with a home invader it will probably be over in about 10 seconds. This is an interesting and important topic. Do you have an alarm system besides the dogs? If you have a big dog a person really has to be a homicidal maniac to do a home invasion.
  12. Medicade is more generous than medicare. Medicade pays for eyes, dental and drugs. How many toothless vets do you see when you go out to the local VAMC? I see lots of people in awful condition. If they are not 100% SC they get very less than someone on medicade. This is one reason lots of young, poor women don't get married. They are better off getting welfare and medicade.
  13. They will increase Part B for medicare. You know a read a report that said the American worker has not gotten any gains in wages and income since 1973 when inflation is factored into the number. We have been losing ground for 40 years.
  14. Sue This is why you want good ratings on all your conditions because sometime in the not so distant future you may not be able to work and you don't want to start from a low rating to try and get TDIU. Usually, if you have 70% and over getting TDIU is not so hard. It still is not easy. You just can't tell what your condition will be in 10-20 years from now.
  15. I don't have those options at my VAMC. I get a form to fill out as soon as I get my percoset and fentanyl scripts. The form asks me a bunch of personal questions and I send it in to the VAMC. I have to get it there at least two weeks prior to my refill date. Some nurse does the scripts and the fill date is different every month. God help you if your fill date is a holiday.
  16. I had a GAF of 50 and I got 70% TDIU. The main question for rating MH conditions is "can you work". I had the same symptoms before and I got (30%) because I was working. When I retired on disability and got SSD then I got TDIU.
  17. I feel for you Pete since my pain meds were 7 days late including the mailing. Every month I wonder how late they will be or even if they will get there at all. I have to mail a renewal sheet in every month to get these drugs. If it gets lost or misplaced at the VA I am hurting. Now I have to go in for re-evaluation on the pain meds. I guess they want to see if I am selling them. I can't sell what I don't have.
  18. Give them names, units, date, number wounded or killed, and information on the aircraft to identify it. Do you have a combat ribbon? If yes the VA will accept your stressors.
  19. Right, you can file the CUE anytime. Where did the CUE happen? Did it happen at the BVA or the VARO? I would file the CUE ASAP because it usually takes time and the VA does not assist you in this. Since this CUE is for big money I would consider getting a lawyer to take a look at your CUE. I thought my CUE was pretty obvious but it has been almost 6 years now and I have been to all venues except federal court. When you are asking for over 30 years of retro the VA takes a good look to find a reason to deny it.
  20. I think your C&P was positive for you. Now the hard part is you have to wait. I think it will work out for you. Stay in therapy even if you get it from private source.
  21. My CUE is on remand from the Court to the BVA. Hey, maybe I will get 41 years of retro since it goes back to 1971.
  22. You need to describe your stressors and if you have combat awards you need to tell them. Don't leave it up to the VA to do this for you. Do you have a combat award or is yours a noncombat stressor. If noncombat you need to write it up and tell them where to look for it. I would not trust them to find this on their own. You should describe your stressor in detail and explain why it caused dread, fear of death or injury etc. Some are pretty obvious like getting shot at or wounded in action. Others need more explanation.
