  1. Welcome Maggiebell to hadit.com We are glad to have you here with us. Remember that your greatest strength with dealing with the VA is learning how they work and what they require to obtain your benefits. Everything you need is available on hadit.com
  2. This is just a guess but if you have a claim in with the VA it sounds like they were going to set up an exam but they found some info in your file or that you sent that made them decide to cancel exam. This is purely speculation on my part though.
  3. I can understand your pain Navy04. There is no way to make you whole again. I don't understand how VA and politicians think they are doing so.
  4. The VA continues to manipulate the media with statistics that don't add up. It is no different with their push to claim high closure rates on initial disability claims and disregard the corresponding rise in the appeals claims rate.
  5. USMC_VET: Sometimes even a 0% for service connection will give you a little validation even if you don't get paid for it!
  6. broncovet, that really saddens me! As a veteran I feel almost betrayed by the fact that he did it on va time!
  7. I couldn't agree with you more ArNG11. The VA knows the statistics of the number of veterans who give up without appealing denials. They feel they can wait veterans out. I bet they are surprised when they get Notice of Disagreements when they arrive. It is not about the fortitude of the veteran. It is about a broken system.
  8. Just realize that I am very thankful for the help I get from the VA Regional Office, VAMC Hospital, and VA clinic. I am just frustrated with the process. No one told me as as a veteran I would practically have to be a Doctor and a Lawyer as well!
  9. The Social Security Administration normally reviews you every 3 years or 7 years. But I was reviewed at the 18 month mark because I was working part time and under SGA income limit for SSDI. Unfortunately the Degenerative Disk Disease in my back has gotten so bad I just can't work anymore. I was in retail sales and loved the interaction with the public. They checked my income constantly and made me send copies of my pay stubs to SSA. There are veterans who are missing an arm or leg and SSA still ask to look at them but most of time not. Anyway what I am upset about is the fact that we have to constantly be reevaluated. I have Bipolar Disorder and it is severe. My doctor says there is no cure but I am on haldol shots and take bupropion. I can't hold a job for long because I have severe mood swings. Anyway there should be some program where once they determine your disabilities are severe enough the VA and SSA leave you the hell alone on reevaluations and try to seriously help you. I get tired of constantly be like a dog proving I can do a trick in proving my disabilities. If they are permanent what is the point if they are also severe enough?
  10. Call the VA hospital and ask to speak to the Release of Information office. They should be able to help you unless the C&P exam was outsourced to QTC. The doctor has a time limit within which the C&P must be completed and returned to the Regional Office. Mention that if they say they don't have it yet.
  11. I think anything that the VA and SSA could do to make the process easier would be a good thing for veterans. I am on SSDI and 100% P&T no exams scheduled through VA. I don't think disabled Veterans should have to go through the process twice to attain these benefits.
  12. I ran into some trouble from physical therapy through choice with billing. The Rehab kept calling trying to make me pay the bill because VA was dragging their feet. Don't pay it! Make the VA pay it. Call VA and bug them about if you get hassled with bills for therapy!
  13. Wow Buck! That is a head scratcher. Call Peggy 1 800 827 1000 sometime next week and ask. Good Luck!
  14. Iris is under contact button top right of website www.va.gov I would send an Iris question as to what is going on or have your VSO check for you if they are doing your claim. If you are doing your own claim send a certified mail receipt letter asking for info and send it to your regional office. A call to 1-800-827-1000 wouldn't hurt either.
  15. Just remember that most of us get our increases in small increments and have to fight the VA through appeals to get a high rating. Some for many many years
  16. I think most veterans go through what you are going through. My claim bounced around so much I watched it just to see where it would go next. My claim went back to gathering evidence several times when it seemed it was finished. I think getting a hobby like others on hadit.com have recommended is good to help you keep your sanity.
  17. Good luck Buck! I just checked ebenefits and it is day two and they are still having problems with it!
  18. Check with your VSO immediately as it appears they are inferring a award for TDIU. You and your VSO will probably have to fill out the correct form and send it in to win the award! Good luck and keep us all posted!
  19. All of you gave great insight! Congrats to you as I don't understand how to click the Like button yet! I am a newbie on posting.
  20. I am a guy and went through this with a claim for Bipolar Disorder. The VA ignored my evidence which was limited to one page in my military medical record. You know what I downloaded the forms from all three congressman's website for release of info so they could assist. They will also send this too if you call their office and speak to someone on their staff. I filled out the form and asked the congressman's office that they submit my medical info on my behalf as they were ignoring my medical info. I even sent the congressmen a copy of rating decision which showed key evidence was missing. The VA FLAGGED my file which is their way of saying a congressman was involved. I did this while was waiting on my appeal for DRO "de novo" review. Guess what? The VA recognized my evidence, sent me a letter admitting they had the evidence and granted my claim for Bipolar Disorder during a de novo review with DRO at regional office. THEY HAD TO RESPOND TO THE CONGRESSIONAL INQUIRIES AND THE CONGRESSMEN SENT ME COPIES OF WHAT THEY SAID WHEN THEY RESPONDED TO THEM! Hold their feet to the fire and you will win!
  21. I forgot to add that I was diagnosed with diabetes about 12 years ago by the VA. I am taking oral medication which is glipzide and not on insulin yet. The doctor keeps threatening to put me on insulin because I have high glucose and A1C levels.
  22. I am a 52 year old type 2 diabetic and served as a Boatwains Mate for four years on board two different frigates. I worked with lots of different paints and solvents which I inhaled and got on my skin on a regular basis. While in the service I have medical evidence that showed I had high triglyceride levels but not diabetes. I have read online that high triglycerides are an early indicator of diabetes. Is there a way to service connect this? I am not worried about the money part of a claim as I am already 100% Permanent and Total. What I am more worried about is DIC benefits if I die as a complication to diabetes. I can't get the VA clinic or VA hospital to help with getting this service connected. Thanks for all your help!
