"That's because it is pending authorization for 2 issues which were granted. The SOC will come out with the two grants" I got this from my DAV rep, 2 days ago I sent NOD for SC migraines to increase and TDIU. Was decided on 23Nov10. 17 days and waiting..Im on pins and needles! The VA said 10-40 days is the average time for final authorization. Im hoping so.

I hope this is being posted in the right area. This is not at a VA medical office, but at a private practice. I have been going to this office for medical care since 1973. My Doctor told me that if my wife and I want to remain with him, we would have to pay him $1500.00 each per year over and above his medical fees. He would limit his patient load to 450, and give us access to him 24/7. Sometimes, a man has to do something that he does not want to do, in my case I did not want to go to a VA medical facility for care, but with the way things are looking in the private medical world, I may not have a choice. The title says it all....sort of I have had issues with my primary care doc from the start, but we were told she was one of the best and most requested so I tried to stick in there. I cannot get her ot take me seriously, she insists I have no reason to be in pain, she ignores following up on my medical conditions. I am rated at over 50%. After our last appointment where she once again told me "you're only 30 years old, and I'll see you in 4 months" when I mentioned some medical problems and pain...I decided to switch doctors-finally. Unfortunately that change did not go through! Currently I have a hiatal hernia that I just found out about. I was under the impress…

The VA still has not placed your POA throughout the system. I will try again on Monday to fix that. I saw your appeal is completed and they granted 2 items. Migraines and individual unemployability. I don't know what percentage for the migraines nor the dates. They did not give us a copy since our POA was not in the system. I will work on this Monday. I have a copy of the POA and will get it in the system. Have a great holiday and you will get your letter probably next week. I received this from my DAV rep. I called to check on it and the VA said decision was made, its pending authorization. What does this mean? How long does it usually take?

I was just notified by mail of a new way to communicate with my PCP on Myhealthevet called Secure Messaging. If you have an account which has been verified in-person, you can log in and click on the Secure Messaging tab and opt in. "Secure Messaging can be used to request an appointment at your VA facility, request a VA medication renewal, request an address change, or ask your primary care team questions. If your clinic is not currently participating in Secure Messaging, please be patient. It will take some time to implement this feature at every clinic nationwide. Please note: Secure Messaging is offered through primary care providers. You should continue to fo…

I am a regular Army veteran who was medically discharged in 2003 (after 3 yrs active duty), for L4 - L5 disc ruptures, plantar fascitis (both feet), and elbow tendonitis (no rating). I was given 30% disability for my back and feet and I have been fighting/waiting since 2004 for my rating to go up. I saw a VA neurologist in September 2008 about my ruptured discs (L-4, L-5) (in the last year the pain has caused me to switch to a different job at part-time) After looking over my last MRI and examining my reflexes (knees), he found that my nerves/reflexes had degenerated to the point that my right leg did not respond to the hammer. He told me I needed surgery (laminectomy) …

Hi all - I have been going to the same VA for over 5 years now. I've already requested fee-basis once, and the VA hospital changed tone and got me appointments. I am back in the "queue" again of inadequate wait times and care. I know that I have to write a letter at this point because they will try to tell me that I am getting the care already at the VA when I am not. It is time to go to fee-basis and get out of the hospital care here. But I have two questions having never done this. Has anyone else successfully done this? 1) What should I include in the complaint letter (if I need it) and who should I give it to before I go up the chain with it. 2) If yo…

I am rated 100% and another 20% for encephilitis and third degree burns since 1968 . I filed a request to buy the SGLI after an award for aid & assistance was successful. Prior to the A&A I was drawing homebound. The application for the SGLI was filed within the 2 year window allowed after a new claim is awarded. I received a letter from the Insurance Section of the VA saying request denied reason " request based on claim should have been made as request for increase in rating". I can find no court cases on point. These HB and A&A are 2 different section 38 USC, but again no arguements against this division of VA. HELP. AUSGMBLR

I have recently found, after requesting my C-File, that the VA is in receipt of several medical forms from my private insurer/provider that have not been authorized. They allow the VA to see the path I am pursuing in regard to secondary issues that have not been brought to their attention at this point. One on the forms actually holds a differing opinion than the VA as to the cause of some of my leg pain, thus if used could possibly reduce my %. I called the VA and mentioned the situation and asked can these files (without identifying) could be removed from my file, as they were given without a specific release for them. Answer was, "Nope" they are now part of permenant…
