I have been going to a local VA clinic in Macon, Georgia for two years now. I was wondering if anyone knows if I can immediately request medical documents from a the local VA clinics after a visit? Because the clinics are not like the VA Hospitals where I can go to straight the FOIA desk. I am asking this question because I have already made a request for my C-files, and C&P exams and have not receive them. These documents would be helpful since I have filed for an increase. Thanks HadIT

I am planning on moving to Tennessee soon for financial reasons...and to be near family. Right now I live in the Atlanta area. By comparison what are the two VAMC in TN like? I am more familiar with the Nashville area locally...but know that the VAMC in Murfreesboro is larger. I've never been to Murfreesboro before. But would it be worth it if the VAMC is nicer? When I used to live in Nashville it was before I joined the military so I wouldn't have had any reason to go to the VAMC then. What is a better area to live considering cost of living? Things to do? Less out in the sticks? More importantly which VAMC has more availability for appointments, better …

Would like to know what actions I can take if a VAMC completely ignores a FOIA. I know they can refuse to release psych records, but don't they have to provide detailed information as to why they refused. And I also requested non-psych records which they have completely ignored. Thank You, Jaz

I have been trying for weeks to get to see a doctor at my VAMC about my apnea. I got a consult from my shrink and that was cancelled because the sleep center was refusing to see me until they got my private doctor's records to show apnea. My PCP got involved and told me to fax her the records and she would make the appointment. I faxed her the records and sleep study and the sleep dept. says they cannot get them from her. Then one of the sleep doctors wants a fax of all my records. No one will cooperate with anyone else and I am wondering why I need proof of apnea before they will see me to evaluate my apnea. I am not filing a claim. I just want treatment options and the …

My wife who had a terrible stroke almost 8 years ago and I are in our M. Home park on Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. She started speaking in words that made not since and I was worried about another stroke. I rushed her to the nearest hospital which was the Military hospital. They took her in ran tests and she saw numerous M.D.'s . They ran a catscan and other tests. Then they said since I was not a Mil. retiree but just P&T that they could not keep her but recommended that she be moved to a private hospital. A mems team picked her up and she was moved to another hospital in San Antonio. Now what happens? Will the Military hospital bill her, bill Medicare and…

I applied for and received approval for VA medical, but since Fort Lewis is closer to me than American Lake VA Hospital, I pay for Tricare and get treatment at Fort Lewis. The VA Hospital is only 15 to 20 minutes further, but I've never bothered to check it out. Because of my total rating and being OIF/OEF, I'm first priority at VA. Because I'm a retiree, I'm lowest priority at Fort Lewis. I've been wondering if I would get better care at the VA hospital. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!

I have been rated 60% SC since separation and have had 100% medical coverage through the VA since then. -I am unmarried, no kids and unemployed -I do not qualify for any state or local programs that I have found as technically I am not un/underinsured, -I am over the financial need threshold (by as little as $7), -I do not qualify for SSDI/medicare/medicaid as I have not had the medical documentation -the only places that I would otherwise qualify for will not touch me because I have been on prescribed opiates for pain management for the last few years... Since separation and entering into the VA medical healthcare system I have heard the words "not warranted" i…

Tips on communicating with VA health providers https://www.myhealth.va.gov/mhv-portal-web/...h_provider.html Some of these make sense, but I think the docs would be shocked so see a patient walk in with a grocery bag full of medication and a shopping list of questions/concerns.

My question for the board is I am taking coumadin due to P.E. , blood clots in my lungs and my levels have to be checked every two weeks. I am going to be in San Antonio for a month in Feb. staying in a motor home at Ft. Sam Houston. Can anyone tell me if it would be possible for me to get the levels checked at the military base hospital or is there a v.a. hospital around who could check it. If so, what do I need to do, have my va doc write a note so I can get it checked. Thanks for your help.

http://www.va.gov/oig/pubs/VAOIG-12-04214-83.pdf Case Summary The patient is in his twenties with a history of panic disorder, depression, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and drug abuse. Facility MH providers have been treating him since April 2012. In July 2012, a MH provider at the Fort Worth Outpatient Clinic (FWOPC) saw the patient during a scheduled appointment with complaints of increased anxiety and panic attacks. The providers note documented that the patient was upset and tearful due to financial issues and homelessness. The provider asked the patient if he felt like he needed hospital admission because of the increased anxiety, but the patient felt outpa…
