I was wondering what type of medical equipment has the VA supplied you? I had to fight to get a hot/cold pack. I am not sure what products the VA has avail and I am sure others might have the same question. I know my husband was given a cervical traction device for his neck pain.

Well, I had another experience that further demonstrates the run around the VA can give you. I had, a should be simple problem to correct. After receiving my 80% rating, I sent in the form to switch from my Navy retirement to VA compensation which is required. I sent it twice return receipt required, which I got back signed. So, I know they got it. After waiting a few months and still no VA compensation, I tried and tried to get through on peggy line, no luck. I left info for call back, did not receive one. Sent IRIS message, after 3 weeks, still no response. I tried to send followup but now IRIS says my identification info belongs to someone else and blocks me from…

I am asking this question for a good friend whose husband is an Agent Orange/Vietnam Vet. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this processed quicker? It would be the Toledo, OH VA--which is under the Ann Arbor, MI umbrella of clinics. Quote: "can you give me any suggestions on who to contact (other than Physical Therapy...already did that several times) for this? The arm of Pete's electric wheelchair fell off & we called over a month ago & they sent someone out right away....the guy checked it out, took pictures, wrote an estimate & said he would submit it & as soon as he got authorization fpr payment from the VA he would be back out to fix it. …

colonoscopy @ VA polyp removed and tested + for cancer. Advised to get this taken care of asap and we started talking about surgery needed until I said I wanted to get second opinion. VA did a 180 and said they wanted to wait 6mo. and check again to see about regrowth. Went to outside Dr. and advised to have surgery asap. Had part of colon removed saw oncologist no chemo or radiation needed. Follow up @ 6mo. all clear but need to be periodically checked to keep close watch. VA lab report shows blood in urine. Doc says wonder whats up with that! re-test 30 days -still + for blood. Need ultrasound on kidneys and bladder--showed normal. Went to outside Urologist- blood…

Ive been trying to get a appointment to see an orthopedic doctor at the waco VA, and they sure are fighting me over it. They told me certain criteria has to be met before I could get a referral, so I asked what. They told me my primary has to do a full evaluation. I told them fine, schedule it. They told me I had to wait until my bi yearly appt with my primary in mid december, they would mail out a slip, for me to call them then they would schedule it. I told them I had medical evidence from a civillian doctor that my back issues are much worse than the current va diagnosis, and they told me to bring the diagnosis in, and we would go from there. It seems like they are g…

Recently I got copies of my entire medical file from my va hospital in WACO texas. While going thru the records, I found several instances where the primary doc, changed several of my conditions that I was being treated for, from UNKNOWN to NO. I am currently in adjudication with the va over the claims that the doctor changed from unknown to no. I went to a patient advocate inside the va hospital, and was told the doc should not have changed my status, becasue that was c&p territory. So I asked that it get changed back to unknown while my claim moves forward. Nothing was done., So a month later, I call patient advocate, for follow up, Patient advocate refered me to h…

I received prescription eyeglasses from my local VAMC in March 2011. In October 2012, I had emergency eye surgery on my left eye due to a torn and detached retina. Since the surgery, my vision in my left eye is now extremely blurred and I can no longer use the eyeglasses provided by the VA. My eye surgery was not performed at a VAMC. I used a non-VA surgeon paid by my private insurance. In early January of this year, I provided my VA PCP with copies of my eye surgery reports and asked for an appointment with the VA eye doctor so I could get new eyeglasses. I explained to my PCP that I could no longer use the prescription eyeglasses previously provided by the VA. M…

Anyone using the new facility for mental health treatment out on 46th St for Tampa, VA mental health you are probably not going to like Chinese fire drill they have going when you try and check-in and check-out of the clinic. There was a line out the door today just to check-in with the clerk. The Tampa VA has taken a system that worked OK and made a mess of it. A twenty mile drive and long wait for ten minutes with my shrink. It is not worth it. John

Went for an appointment to my local VAMC today for an appointment to see if I was eligible for a motorized scooter. The guy in charge said that "the rules" stated that he could not give out scooters unless there was a loss of one or more limbs or unless I had heart and / or lung issues. I was referred to the rehab dept by my PCP, Psych & local social worker who all said with my pain and mobility issues I should be able to get one. Needless to say, I will have to appeal his initial decision. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find these "rules" that state this. Everything I've read so far doesn't contain any specific qualifications for receiving a…

I currently have one FOIA with the VAMC that is five or six months old and two that are over 30 days. I'm only asking for two years of information and there isn't a great deal of info in those years. They haven't sent me any info like they are supposed to by Regs, what can I do to make them release these records? Thank You Jaz
