Has anyone encountered this problem with the VA? The VA has been treating me for shoulder pain for roughly 8 months. My doctor decided to do a MRI to see what's going on. He told me I have a torn labrum and bicep tendon and a bone spur in my right shoulder that is causing pain and limited range of motion. There were other problems he discussed, but I didn't understand him. (the left shoulder isn't much better). He told me in most cases he would refer me to a surgeon, but he won't. Why? I am too old for the operation. I saw a doctor outside of the VA health care system. He asked me why I'm coming to him and not the VA, and I told him. I'm 51 and I'm too old. Any sugg…

Did not sleep one wink last night. Tryed to get in touch with my P. Care M.D. to let him know that eh med he gave me had not worked at all. Guess what, I called for hours and no one answered the phone. Then it would just hang up. I finally got the p. care office around 2:20 and they said they would have the doc call me. Well, he did not call so I made a appt with a doc outside of the V.A. for tomorrow at 3:30. Not I am sure I will have a sleep study which I need. I have gone about 15 nights without sleep, normally I fall asleep about 8 in the am and sleep to 12. Do I have any recourse against the p. care people, who can I report this to. Some people would die b…

The Va and American Parkinson's Diesease Assoc Have joint clinics in about 6 major Va hospitals in the US. Not everyone in the Va system is either aware of this and some not willing to give referrals. However here is the main link to the clinic HQ, from there you can find the nearest clinic and get an appt set up. Yes they DO PAY Travel pay to those who get it anyway. This has been a god send to me the Houston clinic treats me as an individual and does help with treatment for the long term not just a lil patch and a pat on the back. I do recommend this Va joint clinic to any serve member who has or thinks they have Parkinson's. http://www.reno.va.g.../parkinsons.asp

In early June of 2011 I was service connected for hearing loss. During my C&P exam, the audiologist told me I would benefit from hearing aids. On June 14, 2011 my PCP requested a consult for hearing aids through the audiology department at VAMC Dublin, Georgia. At that time I was told there was a long waiting list for veterans requesting hearing aids. After waiting over seven months I decided to call the audiology department at VAMC Dublin and check on the status of my consult request. I was told that they could not tell me when I might receive an appointment because there were so many veterans ahead of me on the list. When I asked if I could go to another VAMC …

Looking for healthcare recommendations to help my friend's situation. He is one of those folks who never really got sick and has almost no service treatment records, but recently started experiencing neuropathy and inflammation in with his lower extremities. In the late 90's he retired honorably with 20 years of service, never served in combat theater, is not disabled, is not married, does not have health insurance or Tricare, and VAMC eligibility said he makes too much to qualify for VA healthcare. Any ideas? Thanks

I got my rating in December, and I'm lost about how to get an acutal appointment for my condition. I guess I waited for the VA to send me something else, but obviously it never came. I guess I supposed the VA would send me a card or something. I also spent a good while searching through Ebenefits for away to get an appointment, but couldn't find anything. Tried to get level 2 MyhealtheVet account, but it looks like it takes an act of congress... I stumbled on this last week, https://www.1010ez.med.va.gov/sec/vha/1010ez/ , so I took the time to fill it all out. Am I on the right track?

x x x Thought I remember seeing a regulation that states P&T veterans have priority, and should be seen in no less than 30 days? My primary doc at the VA clinic is only seeing me once every 4-6 months. I need a hearing aid and new eye glasses, and the only thing she wants to treat me for is high cholesterol which is bunk. My cholesterol levels are fine because my "good" cholesterol beats the bad. Junk science. Anyway, can I just call the nearest VA Hospital and schedule myself for appointments, or must I wait for my primary doc to send "consults"? If I'm lucky, I might get treatment for one medical condition per year ... Whine, whine. Still, I'd like m…

Any VA can look at my records on the computer. But- in every state I go to, the VA says I have to "enroll" to get care (if you don't want to spend a shift in the ER). Enrollment is a weeks or months-long process where you have to be assigned to a team, then have appointments for NP, Dr or whatever before getting appointments for specialty clinics or other care. Additionally, the Arizona VA said I'll need to bring 2009 tax return. Does a 100% disabled vet need to do this? Why is it so complicated?

I recently questioned why two mileage payments were short. When all was said and done, the VAMC (in another city) is using the 5 digit zip code as input to some sort of computerized program, instead of mapquest or other "VA acceptable" mileage. Naturally the 5 digit zip code covers a large area, and typically results in much less than the actual mileage. I seem to remember that the mapquest mileage was considered acceptable by the VA. "http://www.va.gov/healtheligibility/Library/FAQs/BeneTravelFAQ.asp#currentmileage How do we determine mileage for reimbursement purposes? VA has not established use of a single reference. Mileage can be determined using autho…
