Recently, I was awarded 100% P&T. So, today I was by the VA Dental Clinic, and thought that I would stop by and get some information. I was surprised that the people were very nice and helpful, and left with an appointment in Jan 2013. I usuallly have a very bad experience at VA medical places, but this was very nice. Papa

When I was awarded p&t 11 years ago I do not remember seeing an offer for free insurance or the possibility of purchasing insurance. So i missed out on this. I understand if you are awarded a new disability you might be able to get the insurance. My question is we were awarded a&a due to me taking care of my wife with her stroke. Would this award qualify for insurance or should I just leave it alone. The a&a is only 140 a month but every little bit helps. I wish they would give the disabled vet a caregivers award when he has to take care of his spouse so he or she could have a little off time You can not afford to hire help due to the high rates the…

I had an appointment yesterday at the VA. Everyone has always been really nice until yesterday. I went in to see the nurse prior to the doctor 's appointment. I had never seen this nurse before. She started asking questions, and when she asked me about pain; I said about a 6 on a 10 level. I told her that I was in pain about 90% of the time. She then asked if I was in pain on a seldom basis or all the time? I said about 90% would be closer to all the time but there has to be somewhere in between seldom and all the time. She replied and said, "no, they are the only choices and she couldn't put done all the time because it wasn't true". I told her to put whatever she wanted…

My husband retired in Aug of 2012 after 23 yrs. He just saw C&P yesterday and was also seen by his PCP where the doctor was able to fill his medication's. My husband was in the Persian Gulf war (Operation Desert Storm) (1yr) and never went to Operation Iraqi Freedon or War in Afghanistan. He just received a call from the Battle Creek VA indicating that because he did not go to Operation Iraqi Freedon or War in Afghanistan he would not qualify to receive free medication. Is this true? The lady that called him from the VA told my husband to look up entitlements for VA Persian Gulf War and to get back with her. I was under the assumption that he would at least receive …

Hello, I am a reporter for The Associated Press in New Hampshire and have been covering the story of a traveling medical technician accused of infecting 30 patients with hepatitis C here. David Kwiatkowski, also worked at more than a dozen hospitals in seven other states, including the Baltimore VA hospital. He worked there from May 2008 - November 2008. I am trying to find people who have been asked to get tested for hepatitis C because they may have been exposed while he worked there. (He generally worked in cardiac cath labs). If anyone fits that description and would be willing to talk to me, please contact me at hramer@ap.org. Thank you, Holly Ramer

Here we go again. The travel folks have told me that when I have two appointments on the same day at two different VAMCs I get travel pay round trip to one and one way to the other. I have the choice on which I get one-way pay and which I get round-trip pay to. I actually had this happen last year. I was unaware of the policy (cannot find reference to it anywhere) and claimed the travel to the nearest VAMC first and when I put in the claim at the second VAMC I was told about this policy. Last week when I went to an appointment the travel clerk kindly told me that I should only ask for one-way pay as I had another appointment at another VAMC later in the day. I as…

Just inquring how a Veteran is normally treated at a "Away' VA clinic while traveling or visiting another area? Did that once and was shocked having to 're-register' to that particular VA, Sure feels like the VA med centers aren't participating together on a single data base. A process that could take as little as 30 minutes took 5 times as long, going thru several receptionists/checkin clerks,,, My question is 'Whats Normal' about getting simple primary care at any VA ?
