  1. I put my paperwork in in February, and they told me today that I was not in the system because they have not put me in yet. They can't put me in now because there is a computer "glitch" that shut down the entire system. My question is what happened between February and now? Why didn't they put the paperwork in when I turned it in.
  2. Congrats to you and Willie. Don't drink it all in one night lol.
  3. Is it just one award or do they pay for bilateral condition? For example braces on both knees, I know its a dumb question but I had to ask.
  4. The prosthetics department handles it at my VARO.
  5. Its not in your imagination, unfortunately you build up tolorances and it takes more and more. Pain meds can cause depression as well. Finding that right balance is always a challenge. Have you tried torodol?
  6. I know what it is like waiting on the VA. I have become homeless for a few months waiting on an expedited claim. I agree with Sharon get the doc do write why your husband can't go back to work, and how long he's been out of work due to his surgery. Good luck /doc
  7. You can wait a few weeks and then ask the VA for a copy of the C&P exam. That has been something I have done in the past, it at least helps with the wait. It also gives me a heads up as what I may want to dispute.
  8. Does anyone know when we should expect them, this would be my first year getting it. Thanks.
  9. I asked for and received letters like this last year when I was granted IU. I may be wrong but as I understand it the first letter that makes mention of your next evaluation is for your rating purposes. The one that says you are P&T is for use with state agencies to qualify you for those bennies, I could be wrong but thats how I understood it.
  10. I'm very interested in how things turn out for you Pete; since I'll be submitting a claim soon to connect my sleep apnea secondary to psych meds. I gained 70 pounds on abilify and was diagnosed with sleep apnea back in November. Please keep us posted, and good luck. /doc
  11. I understand what you mean I'm looking at spending thousands for my younger daughter to get braces, the wife needs dental work. I was hoping they picked up some of the expense. I was told I had a heart murmur for years and had to take antibiotics before getting dental car; Suddenly after joining miltary I was told the murmur went away I wonder if they were just saying that to save on giving meds every time I had work done on my teeth. Thanks to all for your quick replies.
  12. I was just recently granted P&T, and was wondering does CHAMPVA provide dental as well as medical for spouses and dependents?
  13. I keep getting mine sent back to me saying the paperwork is wrong in some way. I am now attempting to get it right for the third time, whats strange is that they claim you need your doctor to fil out their portion of the paperwork, and that is not required anymore per their reg. Go figure.
  14. I don't mind at all. I'm service connected for Depression 70%, left knee 10%, tinnitis 10% totalling 80%. As I said before I was denied ED and hypertension back in June. I'll file a NOD for the ED this week and file a new claim for the sleep apnea based on the weight gain from psych meds. We'll see how it goes.
  15. I do have hypertension and a pacemaker, I was denied s/c for hypertension in June. I will have to pay out of pocket for an IMO that says otherwise, don't have the money right now. I know the dangers of sleep apnea thats why I'm trying to get it service connected. I'm hoping they won't need an exam for the sleep apnea since its the VA that diagnosed me back in November. Thanks to all for your comments. /doc
  16. I guess I'm wondering if I file a claim for say OSA ,would I then be subject to C&P's for all of my service connected disabilities all over again?
  17. I was just awarded P&T due to individual unemployability effective Feb of 09. I was recently denied hypertension and ED. The ED was denied because the RO said there was no link to it to my SC disabilities, although I was claiming it as secondary to medication. I was given a sleep study by the VA back in November of 09 and was diagnosed with sleep apnea. My setting for my C-Pap is 15. I held off on filing a claim for the OSA due to not wanting to slow down my claim for ED and HTN. I was on abilify which caused me to gain 70 pounds which I believed caused my sleep apnea and my primary care doc has said as much; at least it was a contributing factor. My question is now that I'm P&T should I let sleeping dogs lie or should I file notice of disageement for the ED and start a new claim for OSA? What benefit would I have to file these claims? Thanks in advance for your suggestions and comments. /doc
  18. Congrats on your win, and thanks for staying and paying it forward.
  19. Sounds like if you were found medically disabled all thats left is figuring out whether you have enough quarters to be eligible. I think you've jumped the biggest hurdle the medical part, good luck with the rest. /doc
  20. I applied for an increase for my depression back in Feb of 09. I used the form the VA sends you to write how you believe your disabilities affect your daily activities. Sorry don't know the form number. I mentioned on that form that I had not worked in over nine months. The VA then sent me the TDIU form and suggested that I fill it out. I had never heard of TDIU much less knew to apply for it, and my VSO never once mentioned it. This was about the time I found HADIT and filled out the form per the advice on this site and I was granted IU in Aug 09 going back to Feb of 09. I agree with Larry had I not waited and filed after losing my job I could have had an earlier effective date. I did however, use the advice of this site and appeal the denial of P&T. I just recieved a letter from my VSO saying I was awarded P&T back to Feb 09. I have not received the official letter from VA yet. /doc
