  1. See if you can get a copy of your physical therapy records. Depending on the quality of the treatment notes, they sometimes include range of motion. Back when I was in (90-95), my PT notes consisted of a couple of sentences on a single page. However, I had PT a few years ago and it read like stereo instructions over several pages.
  2. There are a lot of good points here. Without sounding like I am saying what others have, I'll offer some additional tips. Definitely take advantage of all the resources which are available to you. Not everyone is eligible to see someone at a Vet Center, but if you are they can be very helpful and friendly ear to listen to your concerns and offer advice. Sometimes just having someone listen is a big help. Get to know your medication. Concerta is not right for everyone. Your psychiatrist might need to try a few different medications until they find one which helps. Some meds work quickly, but others may take time to build up in your system. If you are having funky side effects when put on a new med, contact your doctor.
  3. I had something like this happen when IO I had something like this happen when I submitted a claim and my VSO also submitted a claim on my behalf. The VA resolved the claim I filed, but I kept getting those "we're working on it, but please wait" letters about the other claim. I called 1-800 and they said that the duplicate claim could only be cancelled in writing, not over the phone.
  4. Some states and agencies may offer special benefits if you are rated for TBI Loss of consciousness should instantly equate to TBI. If it is traumatic enough to knock you out cold, it should be considered TBI hands down. My opinion though...
  5. Congratulations on your win. Be sure the VAMC doesn't try to charge you for any co-pays going forward. As of your effective date where you were >= 50% combined rating, they cannot charge you any co-pays and should refund any as of that date.
  6. Bigtime congratulations are in order for you Pete!
  7. John's right. Call them before you go down there. Some VAMC's have different policies. For example, don't expect to walk out with a disc in hand. Sometimes they say might take 20 working days.
  8. Just got on it a few minutes ago. If you are being redirected to an oddball site, you might want to run a virus/malware scan.
  9. It does sound strange that they would switch venues. I have heard that sometimes they need to take advantage of resources not present at existing facilities. On the plus side, there is a good chance that someone different will be examining you. If you are still interested in having your exam done locally, I recommend calling the local office and see if they can reschedule.
  10. Alabama is on the bandwagon too, but you have to fill out paperwork each year.
  11. They need codes for everything. I hope your wife has a speedy recovery.
  12. Meg's advice is good. Call the 1-800 number or your VSO because you might need a special Form or something. You may also see an increase in rate from child to adult rate.
  13. This might be a long shot, but ask your doc about fibromyalgia. In some cases, wearing CPAP or BIPAP can get you past the alpha intrusions, which are linked to fibro.
  14. ohyeah! grats! i am very happy for you! carlie show everyone it is possible to cut thru the bs!!!!
  15. I had an appointment at the VAMC sleep clinic yesterday. I obtained my machine from a local hospital's medical supply vendor. They had asked me to bring in my entire machine, hoses, mask, everything. I also brought in my sleep study records, as the VA was not involved in my study. They read the chip from the machine to get a log of activity. They tested my machine. They said my mask, hose, filters, and velcro harness were all shot, so they issued me new ones. The nurse who I worked with was actually very positive, friendly, and encouraging. I was actually pleased with the experience and wanted to give her credit for her competence and kindness, so I filled out a comment card. I only wish everyone at the VA was like that.
