ptsd Talking To A Vso About Ptsd
I was discharged with the narrative of PD and want to get it changed to the diagnosis of PTSD. I have a general (under honarable conditions) discharge, and have gotten worse over the years. I was in enough to earn the status of veteran, and served as a wartime vet as well. I need to talk to a VSO but am having a hard time because, frankly, Im nervous and angry all at the same time. I don't even know where to begin saying I need help and to get the benefits to get the help. I have 2 children and want to be in there lives. It's been 5 years since I was discharged and am on the edge of just commiting myself, things have gotten bad, not just personally but finacially as…

ptsd Child Abused By Active Veteran - Ptsd Claim?
While my Father was on Active Duty in Germany, I was 8 years old, and was physically abused, and now am having PTSD symptoms. My father was a Green Beret, with 2 tours in Vietnam and 1 Tour in Korea. He also was involved in espionage in East Berlin, and was awarded a Bronse Star. Due to his high security position he was highly protected from prosecution until he was a civilian. I myself was a Reserve Component member for 8 years with only about one year of Active Duty, all Training Time. He, my Father, was later Convicted of the Abuse while a civilian, but the abuse occurreed while he was active duty. Also, the Military at that time (1972) clearly threatened my mother re…

ptsd Ptsd Exam Wrong?
I am trying to be patient, but I wanted to know what others thought. Two weeks ago I had my PTSD c&p exam, it was only twenty minutes and he only asked me basic questions. He only asked me two about combat and the rest were about my daily living and mental status. He gave me a DX of Generalized Anxiety Disorder and a GAF of 52. He also put in things I did not say and twisted some things I did say around. He also put that I did not meet the criteria for ptsd. I was wondering how could he come to this conclusion, when he barely saw me for my first ptsd exam? It is almost like he had read my charts and already had a DX for me before he saw me. I feel powerless and wanted…

ptsd Talk About Ptsd
x x x I don't want to talk about the "stressors" necessarily, you can if you want, but I would like to know if anyone here wants to talk about living with PTSD? OK, I need to talk. I drank alcohol socially when I joined the military. I think I managed alcohol pretty well: drank beer with friends, at home, not drink alone, laughed, stayed up late talking, generally had a good time. Childhood had some rough patches that the VA has graciously not focused upon, so I'm NOT going to open up about my family of origin. I love and honor my parents, and they are not part of my VA Claims, ever. After I was sexually assaulted, I drank more. I went through periods of seekin…

Please be prepared for emotions. If you are having a really bad day put this on the back burner and do not read it! Wait for another day please. The Other Veteran Oh how proud I was when I signed up to serve Protect my country, I had such a nerve For some reason though unbeknownst to me I was not warned what my fate would be. I Must Have The Fastest Claim In History
I had my C & P exam on April 24th. I called the VARO today and found out that my claim was rated today and then sent to the Review Dept they expect I will receive my letter within 2wks stating what the final decision was on the claim. Does this seem a little too fast to anyone but me. Someone on another forum said that once you have your C & P Exam they don't accept any further type of evidence into the C-File. This tells me that all the information my Advocate sent in on 4/30 never reached my C-File and therefore will not play any part in the final decision.

ptsd Pd Discharge Newly Diagnosed With Ptsd/mst
I was discharged back in 1990 with a Personality disorder, still not sure who gave me that diagnosis. All 3 of my MH C&P's have gone back to that initial diagnosis. I have been seen at the VAMC by psychiatrist who labeled me clinically depressed and I have a long history of depression. However , last fall, I did the groundwork and started therapy as part of a study at my local VAMC for Female MST victims. (I did not report the assault at the time) Due to my job I couldnt continue, so I had to drop out midway. My claim (depression) was on appeal at the time at the BVA so I did not want to mess with it there. Through the study I have since been diagnosed with PTSD se…
