I've read so much that I am so confused. I read in order to get Aid and Attendance one needs to be receiving a Pension and not Compensation. I applied in 2002 for Aid and Attendance and received it. My monthly payment is $654 and with the "K" award I get another $96 dollars. Now add my Spouse and wife it all comes out to $3693 a month under the SMC "L" column. Now am I or am I not receiving Aid and Attendance, lost my paperwork in a move and via the IRIS they state I am receiving AA but we know how right they can be most of the times. Can a Veteran who is Service Connected and is TDIU and his disability percentage is 94% receive Aid and Attendance. Or am I receivin…

I received my NOD and now am 100% schedular as well as TDIU. I received a 60% for right knee due to knee replacement with residual pain and weakness, and have a 10% rating for the left knee. I also have 10% for plantar fasciitis as well as some other disabilities that are SC. My only question is about the Bi-Lateral of the knees combined with the plantar fasciitis. I have to use a cane to walk around and even then am only limited to short distances or standing for a short period of time. Should this be rated at 70% and should the plantar be added to that since it is the same extremeties? The plantar was for both feet, total 10%. Thank you

I have received what I hope to be my final rating. 100% schedular with TDIU. Right knee at 60% and left knee at 10%, with 30% for cervical, sleep apnea, and adjustment disorder. 20% for lumbar spine, and many 10% for various, shoulder, plantar fasciitis, right hand, tinnitus, and so on. If I have to use a cane for mobility, and propulsion, and have a bi-lateral of 70% do I qualify for SMC?? Thanks

Can you tell me what the amount is for a severely disabled adult child? This individual needs aid and assistance. Would I need to get documentation to such from his physician to get the A &A?

I wear the metal hinged braces on both kness and appliedd for SMC, but was denied because they are four years old. Can I appeal this decision, or just get new braces and reapply next year. Thanks.

Hello All,,, I guess this is the right spot to ask my question. As some of you know,,, my claim went through and was approved at the "L" rate. My NOD was submitted and all my doctors and even my service rep felt that things should go through okay for the even higher rate ,,,R2,,, Anyhow,,, I am already 100% permanent. Will they take away that L rate or even the R2 if I am granted the R2? I mean,, I admit I take about 25 pills a day AND have I.V. infusions every 2 to 3 months. I was just wondering,,, is it likely they will take it away? Tayo

Hello, I am new here, but not new to the VA "system." I first want to Thank the administrators and members here for providing this site. I wish I had discovered it sooner. I am inquiring as to whether or not anyone has seen where the VA has rated someone (like myself) with SMC-L, but paying them as 'Veteran Alone'. I am married with two children. Before I was awarded the 100% + 70% disability rating, warranting SMC-L, based on housebound criteria, I was paid accordingly for my dependents. After reviewing the rate tables, I discovered that I am being paid the SMC as a single veteran, $3145. Has anyone seen this before, or is it possible that the VA has made a huge mis…

I have a question on SMC s awards. My husband will be receiving SMC, with 2 l and an s. I have not received the award letter yet, which will, I'm sure answer my question, but , in the mean time: At least one of the L awards is based on aid and attendance for tremors in both upper extremities. But, that s award: It doesn't get applied as a step function, since it doesn't fall below an o. Does it get eclipsed by the L, since it is a higher monetary payment than the S, or does it get added in, some way? Thanks, Terri He's been rated 100% for cognitive disorder, 50% for right upper extremity tremor and peripheral neuropathy, 40% for left upper extremity tremor and peri…
