  1. The veteran i am helping, just received a award of 70% Service connection fot PTSD,but benefits is being withheld pending Incompetency Proposal. The reason, base on a diagnosis of moderate dementia of Alzheimers type with short-term memory problems. He don't drink, pay his own bills and don"t abuse his money and he do want to handle his own money.Question, what evidence he need to submit to va to prove he can handle his own money? mobie16r
  2. rikkor, what happen to you,at ft Lenardwood Mo.is a traumatic event, and you can use that as your Inservice Stressor to coroborate, tell your psychologist or psychiatrist that you are still having nitemares, flashback about the accident where you was attacked from behind by another soldier on a lawn mower. To get your medical records go to this website. http://vetrecs.archives.gov/ and at the bottom of page click on Request military Records, and fill out form and send it in through your computer,be sure to copy page with address, sign it and fax it of mail it to address given. mobie16r
  3. What is wrong with that picture,if the vet have a medical disability, wouldn't someone he sees on a regular basis know more about his disabilities than someone that haven,t see him at all.I would call that the luck of the draw. mobie
  4. First of all, what ever happen to you medically in the military and its not recorded on your military medical records as "CHRONIC" you will have to get a Individualy medical Opinion, that states this disability ocurred during your military service mobie
  5. CowPie,go to your clincal psychologist of psychiatrist and have he/she to write you a letter stating that your condition will not get better now or in the future and submit it to your Regional office asking for PT mobie
  6. rikkor, was you in the military when attacked by unknown soldier? mobie16r

  8. Tanya, Berta, is right VA only rate one MENTAL condition and PTSD is a MENTAL disability and like she said it could be for a increase. To answer your question. Can PTSD be rated without a C&P? yes it can.One way is if you have a purple heart and been diagnose with ptsd by a VA psychologist of psychiatrist. mobie16r
  9. Contrats,airborne18,yes your dependents are eligible for CHAMPVA mobie16r
  10. Les,congrats on your victory, and yes that is the way va works, remember you was granted a waiver and when you became service connected and received backpay Va got what you owe them. on your stepdaughter you need to send va a birth certificate. mobie16r
  11. Halos2,I was rated 30% PTSD and i filed a notice of disagreement and ask for a De novo Dro and seven months later i was rated 100% Ptsd TP. It don't make any different what precentage you are rated,if your psychiatrist or psychologist write a statement saying that you are unable to be gainful employable now,and in the furure, because of your post-traumatic stress disorder, you will be granted 100%,and this is base on my rating and other veterans that i personaly know that was rated 100%. mobie
  12. If your Psychiatrist or clinical psychologist states, you are unable to work now,and will not be able to work in the future, because of your PTSD,Va is suppose to rate you 100% PTSD. Mobie 100% PTSD
  13. SouthernBelle,I am sorry for your problems you thank you have with the the va,but you have to play by there rules and your husband psychiatrist didn't help very much, after you get 50% for ptsd everything changes, i don't want to offend anyone on this forum, for there help, and support because i know that everybody want to help you,but southernbelle read and comprehend everything that Rentalguy1 posted, because he is right on, with everything ,and hadit is about helping the veteran get what he/she deserved. mobie
  14. Pete,I take that yoggie is going to a hearing for PTSD.and if so ,a inservice stressor that can be vertify is critical evidence, and how PTSD affects his everyday life.Yoggie have PTSD, and his PTSD needs to be Corroborated with a vertifiable inservice stressor, although if he have buddy letters and a letter from his commanders it is also helpful and i am pretty sure he will have a VSO to help with claim mobie
  15. Bob,i am not Berta, but you said your claim was with the Post determination,if i was you i would just lay back and wait, you should get a letter shortly, but on the other hand, when a claim goes to the rating board, and the rater need something else, to complete rating, the rater will send, it back to the Pre-Determination team.Maybe you should call the 1-800 number to make sure. mobie
  16. Yoggie, take your wife with you so he/she whoever conduct the hearing know you didn't come along, and if you have any new evidence, give it to he/she.When you are asked about your Post-traumatic stress disorder, let he of she know how it affects your everyday life, and make sure you talk about the inservice stressor, that can be vertify by VA.If i was you i wouldn't wear a suit or tie just some everyday clothes. Good Luck! mobie16r
  17. dicple13,your DD form 214 is just proof, that you served in SWA, and not in combat, unless you was awarded the CIB,Purple heart,or other combat medal, that is the reason, you have to prove your inservice stressor, and your stressor have to be the reason you have PTSD. mobie16r
  18. I don,t think there is know barring on a month, that more claims get rated, because the rater is require to do a sudden numbers of claims every month. When A claim goes to rhe rater and there is only one issue, your claim will probably get rated between 30 to 60 days, when you have multiple issue,it could be 60 or more. mobie
  19. Pete, the USS America was station at yankee station, from May26 1970 to August 20,1970,that is off the coast of Da Nang Vietnam, mabe this is the time, he was in vietnam, you know the ptsd type memories ain't to good."lol" If i was you i would concentrate, on getting him service connected for major depression, since he had a doctor that stated ,it is because of his Military service and try to get him some counseling by a va psychiatrist or psychologist and if he got a General Discharge, there was something wrong with him,so do all the research you can, and post it so we can help, by him being in the refrigerator with dead bodies.will hold know water unless,he got some buddy statements like JBasser said. What bodies, would be keep on a aircraft carrier? The soldiers that was KIA in vietnam was flown to Tan Son Nhut Airforce Base in vietnam and stored, until they was flown back to the United States. mobie16r 100% Service Connected For Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  20. George, Welcome to hadit, and that is some good information from Pete53,and welcome home. mobie
  21. avatar, that is just a form va require's everyone that receive unemployability to fillout every year. mobie
  22. avatar,as long as you fillout that form (21-4140)and send it in to the va on time and you are not working,i don't beleive you have a problem with a C&P since you are PT. I read your other post. mobie
  23. Once a claim get to the rating board,it usually takes about Two months, sometimes a little more or a little less, but when it is return to the predetermination team,it is something else the rater needs to make a decision and that will take a little longer. mobie
  24. Berta,is it a pink slip?If so, than it might be a certified letter, but the letter carrier is suppose to deliver to your door. You might need to call your local post office and have the carrier to redeliver it,if it is a certified and you have received one pink slip, the carrier will not have the certified mail with she/he the next day,but will leave another pink slip.Hope you get well soon. mobie
