ptsd Denied For Drug Addicition And Alcoholism
I am 50% SC by the VA for PTSD and I applied for SSDI and was denied back on Jube 22, 2011. The reason they said I am not eligible is because: " We have determined that your condition is not severe enough to keep you from working. We have reviewed the facts in your case a decided that substance abuse is a contributing factor material to a finding of disability. This means you would not be disabled if you stopped using drugs and alcohol". It has been over 6 months and I am ready to appeal if I can, is it to late? How do i go about proving that I'm not an addict like they are saying. I do drink beer and occasionally smoke marijuana. Do I need a report from my shrink …

Disability Determination Service
Hello All, Trying to get SSDI approved has been a bigger NIGHTMARE than dealing with the VA. I'll skip the long story and try to keep this as short as possible. After having my Reconsideration Appeal denied in 8 working days I called and spoke to the woman in charge of my case at DDS and told her that I was not afforded enough time to send her my "new evidence" . The new evidence consisted of FOUR C&P exams that I had to move heaven and earth to obtain since they were done by QTC. Anyways...these reports are SOLID evidence and state all the necessary medical reasons why I am unable to work. After speaking with her she told me to send her the Doctor reports which I…

Ssd-Didn't Qualify Because Of Age?
When I was first injured I applied for SSD, but I was told I didn't qualify because of my age --19 at the time. I have the letter from the social security office stating this, and I believe this isn't true. It told me to apply for MRDD services, which I did, and I received help from them, but I want to apply for SSD. Are the work credits that I am required to have based off the age at the time of disabling injury --19-- or based off my age now?

ptsd Ssd Arthritis Exam Turing Into Ptsd Session
I had my exam for arthritis today. The nurse came in and did the BP, pulse, and the usual stuff. She noted that my hands were shaking and asked me if I was cold and I said no - I just wasn't good with meeting new people which is true. She asked me questions about what meds I was on. So I pulled out my bag and showed her. The first one was the pain med from my PMC. She said Oh - you are a Veteran. I said Yes. She asked me if was in combat - I said no. Then we got to the psych meds. She said so....you are taking these for......I told her that I have PTSD, anxiety, MDD and I am an MST survivor and had to explain what that was. I said that my meds were changed yesterday and m…

Changing Ss To Ss Disability
I receive a social security (small amount) check each month. This is from a small business that I have owned and worked at for many years. I also worked for the Government, so there was something call an offset that was done. Down since I have been drawing this small SS check, I have deleloped Parkinson's Disease, which is on the SSA's list that almost guarantees approval. Now, my question is would it make any difference in the amount of my check each month if I'm approved for SS Disability? BTW, I get $250.00 now. Papa

ptsd Back From Ssdi Mental Health Exam
So my husband has his SSDI Mental Health Exam today for PTSD, Anxiety and Depression. The exam lasted about an hour and a half. Recap: The examiner asked background questions like where did you grow up, do you have any brothers and sisters, parents and what they all do for a living. Was there any history of mental illness in the family, do you have suicidal or homicidal thoughts, delusions. Are there any hospilitizations for mental illness, etc. The examiner asks for you to explain all of your answers. Then the examiner asked what all do you do in a 24-hour period, when and how long do you sleep, do you go anywhere or do anything, chores, cook, clean, etc. Hav…
