About A Month Ago I Reported On A Friends Sister's Award
She received her award letter but w/no explanation of retro award amount. She's still checking on that. Anyway, she first stopped working in 9/01. Filed for SSDI in 12/06. Two denials (not including ALLSUP's denial, to accept her claim, which means they didn't get the $5300 fee that was paid to her lawyer) and then an ALJ review. The ALJ saw no need for a hearing and ordered her disability date beginning as of 9/01. SSDI awarded her a date of 8/05, 17 months prior to her application date, which complies w/their rules. She will be appealing for the 9/01 date the ALJ's order established. I will update as available. Her atty has already been paid her $5300 fee. BTW…

Help Need Some Quick Advice Guidance
I need some advice, guidance, or just plain opinion, here is the problem After being denied the first time I hired a lawyer, of course he promised this that and the other, how hard he was going to work for me to get approved on the first appeal. He was going to drown them in paper work. I just found out this did not happen, all he submitted to the Social Security office was the paper work showing he was now my representative, a copy of the fee agreement, and the Appeal Form. He did not submit any of the documentation I have given him to submit: the additional medical reports, a letter from a employer stating his experience with me and my physical inability to do…

Ssid And Your Job Description
I was in a different section of this wonderful forum, when a question came up about SSID. I am not an expert (simply a secretary) about SSID but I did discover a couple of bits of information that could be helpful to others. I would welcome all experts who can enhance this knowledge. After getting VA disability, my hubby applied for SSID, stating his work title for what he did. It was denied. A couple years passed since I was tied up with something else, but then we decided he should try again. This time, like with the final VA stuff, I took action!! lol This included buying a book entitled, "How to Get SSI & Social Security Disability: An Insider's Step-b…

Question For The Experts
I have a question for the experts, I am on a private pension at my civilian job (State). I don't contribute to SSI, however I do have the letter stating I am entitled to a retirement when I reach retirement, I have worked second jobs and of course the Army pays in too. The statement that come from SSI says I am not eligible for disability benifits. IF I am disabled due to injuries sustained in the Army in Iraq are there exceptions to the rule? As I proceed thru the MEB/PEB the process it is mentioned to apply for VA and SSI. Thanks for any help Stu

Firing Ssdi Attorney
I have been waiting over a year for my ALJ hearing. During that time I have asked my lawyer for the status of my case. He would get back after numerous phone calls with no news, most times having his legal asst call. I ask to have an OTR as I was 100IU/PT. I read on many vet blogs that a great majority of vets who did were approved. He never has gotten back to me with an answer, he said he would do it and that was in April. I am tired and too sick to fight it alone, but this lawyer is just waiting for the ALJ to run its course. Can anyone recommend the best way to fire this lawyer without it turning into another problem. thanks smcskivvy

Social Security Dig/sdig Codes
I stopped by the SSA office today to pick up a copy of my award and reasons given for the award. To my surprise they handed me a letter with no more than Code numbers on it and would not tell me what they ment. I asked how is my Dr. or psychiatrist or even the VA to know what these Codes mean. They told me that the VARO would know what they ment. I asked them why they used the Code, my Dr and/or psychiatrist needs to know what they mean and they will have no clue. As it turns out, I was right, the VA hospital has no idea, nor the Social Worker I talked to. I went by my VSO and even they didn't know what the Codes stood for. Don't I have a right to know what these C…

Finally Approved
Hi, After 18 months, my husband was finally approved today at the ALJ level. No attorney was used either. We went in, and the judge asked about 3 or 4 questions and said to the court reporter approved with effective date of when he filed last yr. Then he told us, we would hear from them within a month but hopefully just a couple of weeks... Oh, and one more thing, they supposedly got the medical records from the VA...well they were not in his file with SS. It's a good thing I took our own copies with us as well as documents from his outside cardiologist. The judge even commented on that and thanked us 3 different time for bringing that stuff with us. They made copies w…
