Frustrated! Bbe W/no Rating Info?
Hi everyone! Wish I was having a better day but I'm near nuclear meltdown today. Surprisingly my son pulled out a BBE from the mailbox last night which shocked me since according to ebenefits my claim backtracked frm prep for notification to pending decision approval again-even though Peggy told me a decision had already been made! I opened the BBE dated 14 Dec, only to find a veterans handbook for my health benefits, welcoming me to the system. Inside it says I am priority D, 0 service connected, and the letters say my book will give me know info abt any other pending claims. An additional form talks abt my right to appeal their decision! What is going on? If a decision …

Sleep Apnea Claim
Hi all, I have a question regarding my eligibility (and chances at success) for a VA disability rating for OSA treated with cpap. My story is pretty simple. About 9 months after arriving at my first duty station my wife tells me I'm choking in my sleep. I was also fatigued which I just attributed to my crapy job. Shortly later I was diagnosed with OSA and prescribed cpap. I had no diagnosis prior to service of OSA. Fast forward 3 years to today and I am planning to separate in 7 months. I continue to use cpap which helps control my symptoms of daytime sleepiness and cognitive deficits. I was completely oblivious to the fact that the VA awards any disability for OSA treat…

Opinion Of Receiving Disability Compensation - Please Help
Good afternoon everyone. I am a combat engineer sergeant with the national guard. In 2010, while at basic training, i suffered a fall which resulted in a separated shoulder. When I returned from basic training/AIT, an LOD was opened and it was determined that I was eligible to recieve care from my local doctors. I saw several doctors and went through physical therapy. X-ray and MRI imaging all revealed a widening of the acrcomioclavicular joint suggesting separation and a 3mm gap in the supraspinatus tendon consistent with a partial thickness tear (one of the rotator cuff tendons). A specialist suggested surgery but it was never authorized. In 2012, I fell off of …

Outsider Finally Stepping In...
Good evening everyone! I stumbled upon this site some time ago while doing research for my own ongoing claim, and after fighting with the captcha-lol-I finally joined after following you all to the point that I feel as if I know you! Let me say that being a vet of 12 yrs now working as a govt contractor, I admire the support everyone offers to each other here. I feel that now that I am a "civilian" my military counterparts (some not all) don't look at us as in the same boat anymore sadly, and one thing I always loved abt being in the military WAS that sense of family! Anywhoo, I am into my 8th month of what was supposed to have been a FDC. My VARO is St. Pete's, and after…

Claim Nearing Decision Phase But I'm Concerned
I began a claim in August 2013, after going to the VAMC for the past 12 years from time to time for what they now call "anxiety and depression". I initially went to the VARO and they initiated a claim for "anxiety due to physical assault in basic training" and "back condition". Only on my second visit to the VARO did they provide me with Form 21-0781 for determining PTSD. The VAMC according to my medical records have never used the term "PTSD" in my file as of yet. I have since gone to the DAV for representation, thanks in part to the great information on this website. I gave them my buddy statements to submit on my behalf since there was no documentation of the assa…

Increased Compensation For Atomic Veterans
What can be done to increase an Atomic Veterans SC for radiation exposure from 80% to 100%? This is time sensitive due to the Veterans age. I believe they low balled the Vet and the VA never stated entitlement to the lump sum payment of $75,000. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. They have already increased it from 10% to 80% due to worsening.

Ime/imo
Hi Everyone I spoke to a lawyer about helping me with my case where the VA denied me for my back claim since I didn't follow up after the accident when I was on active duty back in 2001. The lawyer told me to find a doctor who would be willing to do an IME or an IMO to link my back pains to my military accident. I found a doctor in Fort Worth where I live and I mentioned to the doctor that I was seeing a chiropractor and he told me that he wouldn't be able to make me an appointment to see him until I faxed him over a copy of the treatement record from the chiropractor and then he would make me an appointment to see him. What I wanted to know is this normal for doctors …

Anyone Here Actually Rated More Than 0% For Hearing Loss?
My wife was sick and tired of repeating herself so she insisted I go to the VA. It was no secret that my hearing was bad. Failed tests at work every year. I worked on the flight deck of a carrier from 88'.-92'. SO I went. I did some research online and it seems that a vet rated higher then 0% for hearing loss is as rare as hens teeth. I was actually denied for my hearing even though I show hearing loss within the VA criteria. It seems that My exit hearing test in 1992 showed no hearing loss..... I don't recall taking an exit test. Has anyone here actually been successful in claiming hearing loss and got a rating higher than 0%?

My Story With Va Disability
I just recently found this website and would like to share my story and see if anyone has suggestions about it. I was active duty AF and was medically retired in 1998 due to Depression & fibromylgia, I applied for disability with the VA (right after discharge) and it was denied, I appealed and was given a 40% rating for the fibro and nothing for the depression, the letter I received stated that the VA considered it part of the fibro (it was retro from my date of seperation from the AF). In 2011, I applied for an increase and new claim for migraines. I was rated at 70% for the depression and 50% for the migraines and the fibro was continued at the 40%. My question is s…

Had Sc Surgery, Still Waiting For Temp 100% Pay - Hardship
Had service-connected surgery June 28th, filed the paperwork 5 days later. I was placed on convalescent leave for four months recovery, but I'm still waiting for the temp rating of 100% so I can pay bills. My wife and I have squeezed by thankfully, but I need the money. I filed a hardship letter at the L.A. Fed building in the beginning of August but still haven't heard anything. Recommendations???? I'm represented by DAV and they have been particularly worthless. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

ptsd Claim Initially Denied By Va For Ptsd-Recently Diagnosed By Va With Ptsd
In March of 2006 my claim for PTSD was denied by the VA. Earlier this month (November 2013) I was diagnosed by QTC with PTSD and Depression after my C&P exam. My question is should my retro go back to the original date of March of 2006 when I filed the first time for PTSD? Thank you in advance for your feedback?
