ptsd Sleep Apnea & Ptsd
Hello, I need some information, I am currently rated at 70% (ptsd mainly and minor injuries). I have been diagnosed with Sleep apnea issued a CPAP, and had surgery to remove my rather large tonsils to help with my breathing. I am still having the symptoms of sleep apnea albeit not as bad as before but they are still there and I depend on my coffee to remain awake, and take mid afternoon naps. Still all plagued with nightmares or vivid dreams, I wake up with headaches and a dry mouth every morning sometimes I do not sleep all night. It's tough to sleep with a mask on because i can only sleep laying face down but i do what i can. Anyway is there a chance i'll be able to…

Question About Hearing Loss
New to the site but been lurking for a while. I served in the Navy from 88'-92'. I worked on the flight deck of a carrier the whole time. ( catapults). Last year the wife decided she had just about enough of repeating herself so she pretty much demanded I go to the VA. Long story short, I was awarded 20%. 10% for Tinnitus and 10% for insomnia due to the tinnitus. ( according to ebenefits) . I have yet to receive my award packet though. However, I did not receive anything for my hearing loss and that was the reason for going in the first place. The examiner claims that I had no hearing loss when i entered the navy and no hearing loss on my exit exam. The pro…

Lay Statement
Hello Everyone I wanted to give an update on my appeal process,I'e contacted a lawyer to help me in my appeals and the law firm contacted me today and told me that I would need to send them a copy of my C&P exam and I need to get several lay statements to back up my claim. I wanted to know how effective are lay statements and is there a template that I can use, and do these statements have to be notarized because everyone that I contacted said that they would do it but they were just going to put the statement in an email and send it to me. And i would like to say again thank you to everyone on this forum for all of your help I really appreciate it. Eric

ptsd Recent C&p Exam
I'm new to this forum so I hope that I'm posting in the right area. My C&P exam was recently completed and my PTSD was confirmed by the doc. The report says that the veteran's PTSD was "more likely than not" caused by the trauma I experienced. I don't need to go into all of the details, but I've met all of the criteria of DSM-IV criteria A-F and basically everything under the criteria as far as "symptoms" goes was indicated. Also, diagnosis indicated 70% PTSD and 30% MDD and I've provided, what I consider, adequate documentation to support the diagnosis. So, where does that leave me? Does the examiner at the VARO place all of his emphasis on the doc…

World War Ii Veteran - Hearing Aid Eligibility
Howdy to All, It's been a while since I've posted here. I've been busy with helping the wife take care of our baby girl we had this past March, and with also assembly my own NOD before the deadline next year. I have been lurking and reading though, and appreciate all of the input and advice. I have an interesting one, and I'm not sure what to do to help. I have a friend that lives down the road from my home. He is 87 years old, and a World War II Navy Veteran. He has never been on any VA disability, nor received any benefits to my knowledge. He has hearing aids from pretty major hearing loss, and is trying to get the VA to help him on the cost of the hear…

Z Grams
I am a Vietnam Veteran and served in the Navy from 1970 - 1973. In 1970 the CNO was Admiral Elmo Zumwalt. He initiated many sweeping changes in the Navy by issueing 121 directives known as "Z Grams". In 1974, upon leaving office, many had become policy and so he cancel the Z Grams. Now they virtually impossible to find in their entirity. I am especially interested in Z Grams 94, 105 and 119 because of the importance the could have in getting a discharge upgraded. Where can they be found and why were they not followed by commands in Vietnam?

hypertension Eligilibity And Effective Date
I am a Vietnam Veteran. I was referred to the site by my son-in-law's brother. I got interested in the sight because of the circumstance I find myself in and the volume of forums that address similiar situations. After serving three years on a four year enlistment, I re-enlisted in the waters of Vietnam. For that period of service, I received an Honorable discharge on 26 Jan 73 with a DD-214 showing this. My new enlistment, under the SCORE program started 27 Jan 73. Six months later, I was discharged with an Undesirable (OTH). I have tried many times to get this corrected without success. The reason for the OTH was drug usage. I was sent to a special court mart…
