I am hoping that someone will have some great advice, insight, resource that I haven't been able to find. I am rated for mh. My psychiatrist of 10 years transferred. He and I had a very good working relationship, he knew that I understood when I was okay and when I need a med adjustment, to be seen etc. When he transferred I went 8 months seeing a pharmacist having my meds "bridged" then I got a new psychiatrist. She is awful. She has put me on klonopin for my anxiety and panic attacks because I don't sleep and have daily panic attacks. Neither have gotten better so every time I see her she changes my anti-depressant (which is noted in my charts not to do,…

I just got a declined bill from Blue Cross/Blue Shield (which I no longer have) for knee braces that the VA ordered me for my service connected knees. Now I am not going to lie, I am pretty upset at this. Someone who works in billing at the local hospital told me that the VA is ALWAYS billing private insurance before paying. How does that work considering that service connected issues are supposed to be paid by them.

Anyone ever have the VAMC call you and ask if you would like a diagnostic procedure performed via the "Choice Program" because it was scheduled more than 30 days out? I thought it was supposed to work the other way around...

I'm 100% disabled due to agoraphobia/panic disorder. I was totally housebound years ago, but made it back out with a lot of work, though I couldn't drive far. I've had to travel to a different state to go to a VAMC, accomplishing it by downing a bunch of prescription Xanax, headphones on Brainwave Entrainment relaxation software, and hubby doing the driving. Hubby had a stroke recently and is unable to drive the distance any more, so I had to move to the Choice program. Ever since, the VAMC is noncooperative with me. I even had to contact my Congressman to get them to make appointments, recommended by the Medical center which performed my operation. …

I live 108 miles from the VA clinic at Tallahassee. It is the nearest clinic to me, that I know of, that provides eyeglasses. My husband and I have been going there every year for exams and eyeglasses. From the beginning, they told us we would not get travel pay to pick up our eyeglasses because it was not a scheduled appointment. This year, instead of making the round trip of 216 miles, we requested the eyeglasses be mailed to us, but we were told they don't do that because of Florida state law. I asked to see a copy of the law, and they sent me "APPENDIX A to MEMORANDUM NO 136-4" dated March 6 2009. The memorandum does say they do not provide travel pay for pickin…

Anyone else experience this type of runaround from the VAMC? Secure message sent to PCP via myhealth.va.gov with a request for specific treatment previously received from former PCP doctor who no longer works there Nurse responds the next day stating message was forwarded to the doctor. A week goes by with no response. Called the PCP clinic and was told I needed to come in and be seen. Next appointment is eight weeks out. Told I could come as a walk-in, but likely would sit all day and be seen last. Came in as walk-in at 7 am. Waited all day. Was seen at 3:45 pm. Doc said they needed to refer me to a specialist because they "don't…

Viet Nam 1970, A battery 2/35 artillery So it has been a couple years since my 100% award and I have a few problems that I did not expect. I am covered by my employer at a cost of $753 a month solely that my wife has health ins too. I am retired and over65 and now also have Medicare etc. so I am triple insured? Yes None of the Docs here will take VA as insurance. nether will the Hospitals. The VA here cannot even stitch up a cut finger. All they do is blood work and psych stuff. The Doctor simply refers you to a local Doc or Hospital and there I am told they do NOT accept VA as insurance. So why would I keep the VA as my He…

My psychiatrist of over 10 years transferred last December. Protocol with him was always call and I got in within a week or two. He let me know before he transferred and said to just call a few weeks before I needed to be seen. In January, I had an appointment at the hospital 3 hours away and had a severe panic attack in the waiting room. I called my local mental health clinic for an appointment afterwards and I was told the wait was at least 4 months. They assured me that I could see a pharmacist to "bridge" my medications. I have seen her twice and had an appointment with a new psychiatrist for July 19th. I noticed on my appointments page that is emailed to me by …

A few days ago I went in to the TEMPLE TX VAMC for a cancer screening, I have some odd bumps that have worried me for some time so I went in. I called and made an appointment via the 1800 number and specifically told them the reason I wanted an appointment.. ok , so they scheduled an appointment I went to it, and during the screening by the nurse, I once again, told her the reason for my visit, showed her the bumps, then went to see the doctor.. Once Im in with the doctor, he seems to want to talk abt everything EXCEPT the reason im there, which wa mt skin cancer concerns.,. so eventually I cut in and ask him abt them bumps, and right away he says no, its not cancer, it…
