VA Scandals
Shreddergate and other scandals
On the 13th of October, 2008, VA Watchdog dot Org broke the story about documents found in shredder bins at the VA's Detroit Regional Office.
A number of those documents were critical to veterans' disability claims.
As the story unfolded, VA finally began to release information on the incident and we learned that more than one Regional Office was involved in this shredder scandal.
The VA's Office of Inspector General (VAOIG) is investigating.
VA has instituted new guidelines regarding handling of documents.

i see the VFW, AL, others writing more specific about accountability at VA in light of new VA wait-lists scandal, etc. however, from another VSO, at the below link, i don't see much call for accountability this link shows the other VSO and their requests to Congress regarding the new HR 4810 & S 2450 bills under review. i don't see that much about accountability with regards to correcting much of anything at VA. if its there, then i missed it: http://www.pva.org/site/apps/nlnet/content2.aspx?c=ajIRK9NJLcJ2E&b=6350111&ct=13996439¬oc=1 i don't see how an org such as VA can really be fixed of all the corruption without real accountability. vers…

The VA scandal currently in the news seems big but it can be swept under the carpet again if the public doesn't associate horror with faces or at least anonymous speech. Please don't assume other veterans are sharing enough horror stories for the VA to change. If we don't give specifics to the media, nothing will change. "The government's Veterans Affairs health system has come under fire over delays patients face. In some cases people have died waiting to see a doctor. VA officials from Roseburg, Oregon, may be called to testify in court. The VA is required by law to provide eligible veterans with needed hospital care and outpatient services. We want to hear…

Finally a place seeking veterans' side of ths story instead of asking the fox why he ate the chickens. http://iava.org/share-your-va-story-iava This was set up as a whistleblower site by IAVA http://iava.org/about but is also soliciting veteran's grievances with VA medical care. I'm sure they will also welcome VA claim stories since it's all the same basket.
