VA Scandals
Shreddergate and other scandals
On the 13th of October, 2008, VA Watchdog dot Org broke the story about documents found in shredder bins at the VA's Detroit Regional Office.
A number of those documents were critical to veterans' disability claims.
As the story unfolded, VA finally began to release information on the incident and we learned that more than one Regional Office was involved in this shredder scandal.
The VA's Office of Inspector General (VAOIG) is investigating.
VA has instituted new guidelines regarding handling of documents.

Scroll down and listen to a recorded call by a VA representative who would only identify herself as ID# 1793 and Lauren Price, a terminally ill service-connected veteran. THIS IS DISGUSTING. Read the brief article and tell me if you don't agree. Time to rise up folks. You're either with us or you're against us. No room for middle ground. LC

Kudos to the American Legion for this info: Even as federal agency heads howled about the dire impact of the sequester, a well known newspaper, reported on a string of eyebrow-raising expenditures by the executive branch: $562,000 worth of artwork for the Department of Veterans Affairs. $144,000 on toner cartridges for the Department of Agriculture, in just one day. $178,000 on "furniture rehab" for the Coast Guard. The end-of-year year spending frenzy is largely a function of the federal budget process' use-it-or-lose-it incentive system. "The way we budget sets it up," says Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., "because instead of being praised for not spending all your mon…

The VA employees have the same opinions and concerns that we do! Really breathing fire tonight!! Jim Price got bored and went searching for the VA union. Yes, there is a UNION protecting a lot of what is happening. HOWEVER, after reading the report that AFGE (American Federation of Government Employees) submitted to Congress on MARCH 20, 2013...I am now very upset...far more than anything else that has been released about the VA. AFGE provided significant data and responses from the VA EMPLOYEES - most of which are IDENTICAL TO WHAT ARE IN THE PETITION LAUREN PRICE STARTED. Here it is for your consumption. ***Warning*** get the Zantac, a stiff drink and a fire extingu…

Though the Department of Veterans Affairs has no record of the procedures taking place, the Journal cited government records, inter-office correspondence and letters in reporting that they took place at VA facilities around the country to treat troops who were identified as gay, along with those diagnosed with schizophrenia, depression and psychosis... Dr. Freeman, the neurologist who popularized lobotomies, also pioneered a more controversial technique in which he hammered an ice pick beneath the upper eyelid, through the thin bone of the eye socket and into the brain. He would make the cuts by toggling the pick. http://projects.wsj.com/lobotomyfiles/?ch=one

I saw the following below on another website I was following and thought I'd pass this valuable information on. November 8, 2013 – If you are a veteran and you have been issued a VA card, you need to start treating it like your social security card. When you don’t have anything on your calendar requiring it – like an appointment at the VA – leave it at home. An ABC News affiliate in Florida has discovered that every single VA card issued since 2004 contains the social security number of the person the card was issued to in a bar-code on the front of the card. More importantly, the bar code can be deciphered by anyone who has a free bar-code-reader on their smart phone…

http://www.greatfallstribune.com/article/20131017/NEWS01/310170012/Veteran-says-Fort-Harrison-VA-not-qualified "Charles Gatlin, a 38-year-old graduate student at the University of Montana, is a Ranger-certified Army captain retired on a disability. After being awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart, Gatlin was retired from active duty with a 70 percent disability rating for traumatic brain injury (TBI) suffered in Iraq by a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED). But the VA at Fort Harrison ignored three batteries of neuropsychological testing by the Department of Defense and dropped Gatlin’s 70 percent TBI disability to 10 percent and then added anot…
