  1. I am sorry to hear about your loss I'm just trying to navigate this SSDI claim without the cost of an attorney and stumbled onto this CAL on the website. I just spoke with the disability verification office and she said my claim just was sent to them but someone will be assigned to it soon. I don't know if it moving quicker but at least its not still not at the SSA office. My claim is only 8 days old and she said someone will be looking at it soon. She didn't sound like she was BSing me to get me off the phone.
  2. I myself am not rated Permanent and total yet I am granted with SMC S I am 100% TDIU though.
  3. Hey Nod I was granted SMC S but they said my 100% isn't P and T? Should I just ask to reopen it, my doctors have all said its just a matter of limiting the damage of my TBI residuals but that it's 99 % permanent after 10 years later.
  4. So I've been racking up my headaches with my research has anyone actually use the Compassionate Allowance List to speed up their SSDI claim? On this lists on the SSA website lists quite.a few disabilities and after a hearing I read the whole 4 set transcript says is TBI's with stroke are now additions to their list. Compassionate allowances are a way of quickly identifying diseases and other medical conditions that invariably qualify under the Listing of Impairments based on minimal objective medical information. Compassionate Allowances (CAL) apply to both SSDI and SSI claims. Compassionate Allowances is not a separate program from the Social Security Disability Insurance or Supplemental Security Income programs. U.S. Department of Social Security has held seven Compassionate Allowances public outreach hearings. The hearings were on rare diseases, cancers, traumatic brain injury (TBI) and stroke, early-onset Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, schizophrenia, cardiovascular disease and multiple organ transplants and autoimmune diseases. If you have medical documentation to prove that you have one of the qualifying conditions, your initial claim will automatically be flagged by the SSA and processed much quicker. If your disabling condition is on the Social Security disability compassionate allowances list, you will want to make certain that your application for Social Security disability benefits clearly states this.
  5. 2. Medical history a. Describe the history (including onset and course) of the Veteran’s TBI and residuals attributable to TBI (brief summary). Veteran had Motor Vehicle Accident dated 12/26/2006. Veteran sustained multiple injuries described in discharge summary from initial hospitalization as "Severe TBI/Diffuse axonal injury, Basilar Skull Fracture," and multiple extremity fractures, deep vein thromboses, "mild neurogenic storm", ventilator dependent respiratory failure and etc. He underwent another acute hospitalization, and then a rehabilitation hospitalization at Bryn Mawr Hospital. He was ultimately returned to duty, and he was subsequently deployed to Afghanistan. Based on my review of the documentation: Memory-he describes it as "horrible”. He states he "loses tools after I just used them. I've stopped caring about forgetting things. I have amnesia for my accident. I can remember some things from the day before. I just can't remember. My wife is my reminder. She has to tell me each day what to do. I don't talk to anyone outside work. I stutter, because I think I'm using the wrong word. I'm blunt. My wife says I have no empathy. I don't care about others feelings. I really have difficulty solving problems especially at work." No treatment for his TBI as such. Medical records in C & VA files document well his cephalic trauma. For example, 12/31/2006 CT Scan of head describes "Innumerable foci of intraparenchymal hemorrhage bilaterally stable with the exception of increased edema related to a right temporal lesion." this was the doctors IU opinion will this hurt my SSDI or move in the right direction IU was granted even after my stupid remarks about being strong like an ox ? (1) Trauma effects on Veteran's Memory seem to create one of his most significant impairments. Work on aircraft, where the lives of pilots & passengers are at risk, and much of the tasks are quite technical, seems particularly inappropriate for an individual with his apparent level of cognitive impairment. (2) In most employments, relationships & cooperation with coworkers & customers are important. The Veteran's emotional impairments would seem to be a liability. (3) What he interprets as chronic headache, may be a response to cognitive impairment. An employer would be prudent who asks himself whether this Veteran with his impairments is the individual who should be working on aircraft engines. The Veteran's Physician requested from the employer a modification of his work schedule because of concerns about circadian rhythms in the Veteran. That request was nixed because granting it would in the employer's view, it would be a violation of the collectible bargaining agreement with the Union. However, the Veteran's positives with respect to employment were well stated by him when he said to this examiner, "I'm as strong as an OX".
  6. I guess I can only see this green print if I'm not on an iPhone?
  7. Sorry I get anxious and I post all over repeatedly sometimes I'll refrain the best I can and then I get scatter brained repeat stuff even as I am responding I proof read and end up deleting half the message since I said the same information in the prior post I apologize and will be better at making sure I stay on topic.
  8. If I graduate from a Voc program I know I'll lose my TDIU? But will I just go back to 90% since its work that isn't strenuous to my TBI residuals? I spend 6 years getting TDIU and now I realize I might not be able to survive on the income alone it could just be my anxiety but I don't want to put my family out of our home so I have to push myself to do something .
  9. I hope not seems that I hope my TBI/PTSD rated at 70% by lumped together by their self will will show unability to work. But who knows can't be harder to prove then winning my IU claim on the first try.
  10. Hey Crazyhorse I'm on the same boat currently 100 IU PT and jwas at an increase for my TBI and PTSD and an intial for a chronic adjustment disorder have copies of all my C&Ps so now it's the waiting game
  11. Yeah just got the letter I was 20 when I had my TBI then one last tour in Afghanistan knew my issues with my residuals were overlooked and it was time not to reenlist. IU granted for TBI residuals dizziness and lightheaded with PTSD all together 80 even though with my other 5 issues make me 90 without IU. I claimed my headaches as well but they gave me 0 poor C&P he didn't talk about them I am currently on 2 meds for pain from my headaches also one ER trip in last 2 months and two doctors visits just for my headaches somehow that was a zero. I don't care when it's right since I'm at 100 I just filed another increase I am keeping a journal for my headaches to see if That's more convincing. I have another C&P for my broken pelvis along with two appeals pending. All this VA crap makes my head hurt. Damn the Hamster doing to give him rat poison in his dinner.
  12. My IU claim was completed on Nov 11 of last year I submitted it on 9/5/2016
  13. I get it now apparently the payments for IU are always for the prior month so may will be June 1st and so on. It was awarded on Nov so my back pay was for Dec. 1 and the one for Jan is on feb. it's confusing but whatever I am still getting paid feb 1. As far as ssi I'm not eligible but she said I could be for SSDI so I applied gave my rating current disability list my DD214. I have to go back with the offical letter for TDIU tomorrow I got it today but went their first without it. Does that even qualify me now? She said it could take 3 ,6. Or 9 months all depends. I thought veterans could get it expediated? I don't know how or who to ask?
  14. So I was awarded TDIU with SMC S on Nov 11. I was paid 90% on Dec 1 and Dec 30 for Jan. I was paid retro for Dec 30 on Jan. 12 for 1500. Not to sound greedy but am I not owed another 1500 dollars for Dec 1 since I was awarded it on Nov 11? I know my math isn't great but what am I missing I did this without an attorney so no payout to anyone.
  15. Not yet I don't even have the decision yet but have a copy from my attorney that says it its still officially open the help line said because the retro of two months hasn't been finalized. He said anyday its on 3 k since I was 90 before the 100 TDIU went through. I meet the housebound requirements the doc said think that's why I get SMC S now.
  16. The doctor gave his medical opinion saying I'm a liability to anyone flying in the aircraft I had been working on. So I was put on medical leave unpaid 3 months ago so I was forced to resign. I have been granted TDIU for shot on the 8th only 3k in retro since I was already at 90%. So no WC yeah I here you if this retro doesn't hit by the 19th mortgage will be late.
  17. I still have two issues I've never filed for on top of two pending appeals. Do I keep going now I'm 100 TDIU it's for a broken pelvis and a back injury of the T3 and T4 that still calls me strain? I know it could open a can for rescheduled exams I'm not worried nothing has changed that would give me a lesser outcome I have had 3 exams for my TBI all three 70 since 2010 memory will never come back fully. How long until it's considered permanent even though my doctor says it is after seeing my MRI. Is requesting a permanent TDIU rating ok?
  18. What are my chances that this will be quickly decided? I have over 10 health issues being service connected I'm at 100%TDIU not permanent yet one of my disabilities is rated at 70 for TBI the main reason my TDIU went through in 3 months. That and emailing Ted Ebert and Mr. McDonald. My last check from my work before I was let go yesterday will be Friday and then I have no money coming in to pay the bills. I guess until the 1st I called case management they said your retro is on your way I said 3k she said no 1500. I needed an explanation I said I was awarded Nov 11 that two payments I've gotten just at 90% I am owed 3k. She tried saying I was wrong until it finally hit her and now she's calling me this morning from case management with my answer. Sorry went on a venting spree but back to my post. I started the process online and plan to go to the office as soon as I get the award letter unless printing off Ebenefits will work?
  19. Thanks everyone it's was all the help I got from this site
  20. Dr Bash he seems like a good doctor but I explained I wasn't going to spend 10k this was before I won my TDIU claim just yesterday it shows on Ebenefits just wanted a letter to go with my two Va doctors who already agree that my TBI residuals are permanent. I just have to file for it don't know how long it takes for that though...
  21. Seriously that is something I can do even with a baby on the way what's his or hers number I'm in Delaware
  22. Did it cost 10k or less like I was quoted by a doctor?
  23. Thanks it's says on ebenefits it's awarded on the 11th still no letter yet but it's in the snail mail. I will disagreed with it if it says not permanent TBI ten years old don't heal even all my VA doctors agree.
  24. But the letter generated says this urrent monthly award amount is: The effective date of the last change to your current award was: $3545.04 December 01, 2016
  25. Thank you so much you guys you have made the difference in my claim the speed of my claim has been lightening fast due to the help from Ted Ebert from the VA. my TBI did occur during that timeframe but as you said my wife who is my memory for everything works part time for now and hopefully my mind doesn't slip anymore but I do disagree with them saying my TBI is not permanent after 10 years along with my Primary VA doctor just need to get him to enter that in ebenefits and should be fine to for me to appeal that part of the award letter still haven't gotten it in the mail. xxxxxxx Gooks
