I am a PTSD/MST survivor and I too have FIBROMYALGIA interesting I never thought of it being connected to PTSD. I guess because FIBROMYALGIA is a nerve condition after doing research on it perhaps it can be service connected or aggravated. If I were not 100 P&T I would definitely file a claim.

You have two positive medical opinions that's the good news. The  not so good news is that the nexus of opinions are absent of a rationale (A medical study, article, etc). Therefore, the rater "might" use that technicality to deny your claim.
I have taken the liberty to provide you with the necessary rationale that links Fibromyalgia to PTSD/MST below.  I do hope this helps  your claim/appeal.
The Gerber Study was done by VA Dr. Megan Gerber and some other researchers.

I can tell you exactly what happened at my PTSD exam!  Be prepared to go in there and answer a LOT of questions!  Also, please NOTE that this is not an Medical EXAM but rather a LEGAL EXAM.  My PTSD exam was with the VA so I felt a lot better knowing this.  I took ALL my p/w to ensure if the examiner had a question I had an answer!  I also had a female Examiner which was good for me since I was dealing with MST/Anorexia Nervosa/Eating Disorder.  The examiner was very polite and nice to me and I was too her as well.  I broke down and cried several times and that was good for me because I was able to get out what I needed to get out to her.  Be REAL, be HONEST, be YOURSELF, that is all you can do.
Again, be prepared for a LOT of personal questions and especially "details" of the trauma!
    Best of luck!

I am digging up an old thread here but wanted to post.  My husband is currently at 90% overall and STUCK here b/c of the incompetence of the VA.  He is an OIF/OEF Veteran and is having a lot of difficulty getting Fibro and CFS service connected.  Right now he has an NOD since November 2018 for about 12 contentions to include the Fibro and CFS issues.  We reached out to Dr. Ellis via our rep who is well known with a lot of Veterans and owners of this site.  Our rep has steered us right for years and I can't imagine not using him for my hubby.  So we reached out to Dr. Ellis' team and we filled out all the paperwork and put together in a binder.  We have him reviewing 7 contentions.  They said that the hips are considered one so we only have to pay for 7 not 8 contentions.  They received the binder last week and said their team will review it and get back to us in about 2 weeks to go over it and if they need anything additional they will let us know.  Then we schedule the appointment and pay the $800 ($500 for 4 contentions/claims and $100 for each additional) and go see Dr. Ellis.  We should be going to see him in March and we are traveling from Florida.  I think having his IMO's will be very helpful for my husband's claims.

You will only receive ONE MH rating.  I am service connected for PTSD/MST and MST is related to personal trauma.  You can have many other MH issues but again only one primary MH rating.
I read your success story, so you were granted an increase in June 2018 to 70% for your MH rating.  Most likely all they are doing is confirming if you meet the criteria for MST/Personal Trauma.

I would also look at M21-1, Part III, Subpart iv, Chapter 3, Section D of the above.  I am thinking both of us had inadequate exams based on the length of the exam and I know that my C&P exam is not completely filled out after reviewing it.  Both exams were inadequate in my opinion.

Go back to the DAV and ask them to print a copy of the decision for you.  It should be available by now.  I am assuming your address is updated with the VA correct?  Congrats!

    I am s/c for PTSD/MST and I filled out a VA21-00781 - https://www.vba.va.gov/pubs/forms/VBA-21-0781a-ARE.pdf
That was all I needed to fill out for my claim.  During the C&P exam, we discussed the entire event and it was very traumatic for me to discuss but I got through it.  I had a "clear marker" as well...I became pregnant as a result of the assault, and I lost the child.  All of this was in my SMR's.

I have felt guilty from time to time as well because I am 90% and if I am successful with my current claim, I will go to 100% scheduler.  I work, but only from home.  I have issues daily with life in general but I try to put on a happy face.  For some of us, we choose to do things that make us happy.  To the OP, if the guy likes to go and have some fun gambling and can afford it, that is on him.  I will say this, gambling is an addiction as is alcohol and drugs and many other things.  Now if a Veteran is deemed to not be able to work and is working "side jobs" to earn extra money, that is defrauding the government but simply going to the casino and wanting to gamble isn't wrong.

I'm aware of what you address regarding late MSA reporting.
When there is no actual MSA official Report Filed, no private or Service medical records supporting the MSA Claim, it all comes down to the VA Raters determination as to the veracity of the Vet.
To the best of my knowledge, all MST associated MH Awards are rated as PTSD. All VA PTSD/MSA Psychiatrists and Psychologist Ph.D.'s are trained forensic examiners. Eliminating the possibility of a malingerer making it thru the C & P process is just as important for the MST Vet as a Combat Vet.
The Vet's recent PTSD C & P Examiner made special mention of administering the MMP1-2-RF Psychological assessment test that is a tool in verifying a Vet's Veracity. The results indicated "Non-credible Memory Problems." There was also a mention of the Vet over-reporting his PTSD Symptoms. Do you think there is a better than even chance that this Vet may be viewed by the Rating Dept as having a Veracity and Over-reporting Problem?       As to his IU Denial based on this DBQ, after reviewing what limited information the Vet has presented, do you believe he is IU, unable to do even Sedentary Employment that would provide in excess of the SGI $12,440 per year?

Navy4life got a reaction from Gastone in what the heck
Not all assaults are reported.  A lot of MST never gets reported but a lot of claims are approved based on the Veteran's statement and clear markers.  Also, I don't believe a Forensic Psych doctor is required.  I had a C&P exam done by the VA and it was a Psych doctor but she was not a Forensic Psych doctor.

Are you due for an evaluation for your MH?  Most MH ratings have reviews unless you are P&T.  It is possible you are up for a review.  I just had my review and I was increased from 50% to 70% for PTSD.  The only way this would be a "new" or "increase" claim, is if you initiated it and if you did not, then most likely you are up for a review.  MH doctor's don't submit to the RO, they just add notes in your file, to include your sessions, recent tests for your MH issues, etc.  Your DAV rep should be able to see how the claim was initiated.

Navy4life got a reaction from Inarticulate&Distorted in C&P for increase
Hi there!  Long time member but haven't been around in awhile.  I filed for an increase for PTSD in April 2018.  Received C&P last week and my rep called me today to let me know I went to 70% from 50%.  My overall 90% rating stays the same but it puts me at 94% now.  I intend to file for one more claim in the next few months and if that goes well, I will go to 100%.
My C&P exam went well.  It was about 30 minutes total but examiner told me I was progressively getting worse.  Not sure I wanted to hear that but it's the truth.  I am in therapy for over four years now and I am mentally exhausted from it.  I just hate feeling like this all the time.
What I wanted to mention is that you should always wait until the decision is completed and not try to guess your outcome.  My rep was able to read the exam, it was done at an LHI contracted facility and while the examiner checked the box for 30% under Occupational and Social Impairment, his remarks and overall assessment are what increased me to 70%.  My point is to not always freak out and think you might get reduced based on the Occupational/Social Impairment box.  The entire C&P exam, along with all your history of therapy is what will help you in the end.

Welcome Bill and thank you for your service!  I would not put much thought into the "what if's".  The wondering is going to drive you crazy.  You indicated a "current exam", so did you file for an increase in your hearing or was the current exam for the appeals?  What are you appealing?
I will tell you from my own experience NEVER take the C&P exam for face value.  I just had a C&P exam for PTSD increase and although the examiner checked the box under Occupational and Social Impairment for 30% ( I am currently 50%), his remarks and the rest of the exam indicated I was and I quote "progressively getting worse".  Additionally all my therapy notes from the past four years was helpful and I found out yesterday I went to 70%.  So don't take just the C&P exam.
Good luck and keep us updated!

    Hi Buck;
We have been in FL since 2015 off/on but officially March 2016.  I am no where in need of IU or 100% as of now.  I have a very good job that I do from home and live in the Keys so life is good.
I should come back to help others because it should be what I do to help others since I got help.  John Dorle was a God send for me and I am forever grateful for making contact with him through Hadit radio show.
