  1. If you are 100% PT scheduler you can work all you want as long as you are not 100% for a mental condition! How did your award break down % wise for each ailment? Stillhere Oh congratulation!!
  2. If you feel after a C&P that something came up that you could file for, then file a claim for it and it may require and they may just go on the info from the last one if the doctor wrote something on it. If not ask for another C&P and explain why. At my very first C&P on my first claim I had not filed for ED but the doctor noted I was taking Viagra and asked me if it was working? When my decision came in I was awarded SMC-K for ED. Guess those time have changed or I just got luck! Stillhere
  3. I am assuming you are 100% scheduler correct? If you are then you are allowed to work as much as you feel you can. As far as being in the guard someone else is going to have to chime in. I have heard in the past were veterans suffering from PTSD have actually been in uniform still and being deployed so guess you could. Why did the recruiter feel your 100% would take a hit? Stillhere
  4. Yes once you are 30% or over go to the eligibility office and they will give you a receipt to take to the cashier and get your co-pay back. Stillhere
  5. I would suspect it will be announced in the military press when it comes along. I did read somewhere it was going to take 90 days but some bases could offer it quicker. Lets try and keep everyone updated on this thread and a few respond on how it goes! Stillhere
  6. As you say J go it in line: Worked to allow disabled veterans the ability to travel on military flights. Congressman Forbes cosponsored H.R. 164, to allow veterans with service-related disabilities rated as “total” to utilize available space for travel on Department of Defense aircrafts at no cost to them. Space-A travel is a program which currently allows for active duty service members and certain others to fill empty seats on scheduled DoD flights. The bill will maintain this process, but expand it to include veterans who were permanently disabled while serving their country. Under existing law, there are a total of 4.2 million Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard and Retirees eligible for Space-A Travel on military aircraft. This bill would extend this benefit to an additional 300,000 disabled veterans.
  7. Let them be upset! You need to keep yourself alive for as long as you can! I have VAHC and medicare. I use medicare for most of my stuff and pay out of pocket. I do use the VA for pills and some things like audiology and I have a PCP. But do not use them for my heart! You are in good shape so don't worry about using them at all. Stillhere
  8. HOPE? Is what your lost means to me John. Like you I have been denied a treated wrongly by the VA for years! Only the saving grace of AO diseases being made as a number of presumptives, did I make the grade of a disabled veteran. Through it I have been able to make them recognize what they did to us while we there. The others that came before us and died the early deaths may never know what their dying has meant to their brothers in arms who are still on the green side by sheer luck or our bodies ability to with stand for a time that which ends it. I have an appeal in for an EED based on the evidence they had in hand originally in 1983 but it took an significant hit by your being denied. When you loose HOPE there really isn't much to sustain the drive to go on with an appeal. This is a very bad precedent if your case be the true SOP of how the CAVC is going to treat us! I do hope you have the fight to continue although you seem to be surrounded by a group of ignorant individuals! Stillhere
  9. I would think so since it probably will take longer for your claim than the time they have to serve! Ha Ha! That's a bad joke but true. Anyhow I would send it in and see what happens I personally have seen nothing in the regs that say you can't. I did read somewhere that if you are getting benefits before, then they are reduced when you are in jail. Stillhere
  10. Is he service connected for anything? Ask him if the VA has his insurance information so they can bill them for anything not SC? Stillhere
  11. You would need to go to the regional office where your claim was filed. Stillhere
  12. Well Guppy yes and no. I mean it should be but then the VA is another creature all together. I remember on my first claim I learned a lot and did quite a few things wrong but found hope here and another site and was able to finally find my way. You will find also that it is consuming at least to us trying to get a deserved benefits! There are many frustrating times when you send things in to your RO and they claim they either did not get it or you find they didn't read it! Brings to mind one time when I was dealing with one of my conditions and sent in some supporting evidence and a few months later I got a denial. I was reading the denial when I looked at the area that says what they used to decide my claim and all the information I had sent wasn't there! I called the office and finally got through to some one there and ask why. They said to me that yes they had received the evidence but did not know what it was for!! It was clearly marked to! I asked for a reconsideration and was awarded my SC. Dealing with the VA is different from in a business or individual I have ever dealt with. You will figure this out as you move along but you will have to stick with to get all that your dad deserves! Stillhere
  13. TDFEW you might want to start another post so folks can see your question and help you. Stillhere
  14. I am worried about how you and your VSO are handling your husbands claim. You mention a few times in your last post about not being able to find things where they should be and how to get copies. First rule of thumb "copies of everything should be kept" and we mean everything, also on the computer build yourself a folder just for the VA claim and put all your information you read in one spot so you can find it later. You can do this! Stillhere
  15. Are you already 100% as your profile shows? Only asking so I can figure how to help. Stillhere
  16. If your using VA health you need to go to ROI (release of information) office in your medical center and they will give them to you while you wait. The active duty medical will take a while as Navy said. Stillhere
  17. Well it certainly is not easy for us but if you stick with it you will win. Your first when it is awarded will make you feel good and ready to go on. Try and get with either a good VSO in your area or find you a good advocate online or within your friends to help. In your case getting his medical records should not be that much of a challenge since most of his medical is private, also gettiing the C file from your RO will take a while but not that long. The benefits you are fighting for we have all gone through and some of us even older than 60's. Is your husband on SS? Stillhere
  18. Gentlemen, As I have posted before and as I know many other vets, if you meet the standards or should I say substandard hearing of the charts you will be compensated per the chart correctly. Being 0% connected is a good thing and moving along when your hearing gets worse (if it does) you should have no problem getting the proper rate. An example of my hearing if I my. I am virtually deaf without my hearing aide. I also only have one because my other ear is totally deaf! I had a meeting last week with my ENT and he feels I would be a good candidate for a cochlear operation that the VA is going to be setting up soon. Not sure but I might take a go at it have to do some more research on it. On a good note when I drive I can not hear my wife or anyone else in the car!! Stillhere Oh I am rated 70% for hearing loss and 10% for tinnitus.
  19. My PTSD exam by a private psychiatrist for SS went very quick and pleasant so don't worry. I just told him how it is with my everyday life and he approved. Stillhere
  20. Well being 31 years old and beat up the way you are I certainly feel for you. I think back on my life after Vietnam and making the best I could to get through without any help from anyone. Back then we or should I say I did not know where to turn or who to turn to. I had a few problems back then but all in all it turned out just toughing it out. Luckily my heart and db2 and even my heart waited until I was 50 or so before crapping out on me. Guess I was lucky in that way? i do wish you the best and sounds like you have a handle on what your doing but being so young I do worry that your life could be over before it starts and that is a bad thing. Between 30 and 50 was a lot years of living and I wish you the best! Stillhere
  21. Well that is going to be tough. But I suppose if you already have a shotgun or rifle you could still hunt. That is of course if you can get a license? You don't say your % of disability, are you 100%? If so for what. Of course you can always stick to fishing which is good and gets you outdoors too! Don't want to tell you to do something you might not be comfortable doing so I would discuss this with your doctors also. Stillhere
  22. To members here that go there they have a security breach: From: John Hamilton <JHamilton@vfw.org> Date: February 14, 2014 at 3:30:24 PM EST To: John Hamilton <JHamilton@vfw.org> Subject: VFW Addresses Cyber Attack VFW Addresses Cyber Attack On February 12, VFW National Headquarters received notification that vfw.org security platforms had been breached and a malicious code was installed within the VFW website. This code would allow a malware download to those vfw.org visitors using Internet Explorer 9 or 10. VFW immediately identified the issue and is currently working with federal law enforcement and a cyber-security response team to locate the source of the attack and determine the extent of the event. Again, this attack only targeted users visiting vfw.org using the older Internet Explorer versions 9 or 10. Anyone who visited the website through Internet Explorer 11, or through another web browser, would not have been exposed to the malware. There was no threat to the security of donors’ personal information, and at this point there is no indication that any member data was compromised. VFW will continue to investigate the matter and work to ensure this remains an isolated event. Be assured, keeping VFW members’ private information secure is our top priority and we are taking every necessary precaution to ensure that information remains safe. Thank you, John E.
