Berta, gastone, or anyone that can answer. I was looking thru historical claims. I saw one in 09 that says in the claims section. " brokered claim, new", what does this mean. I did figure out that they were looking for service medical records, that they never received. They never ask us for anything.

Congrats to you guys. I think I have finally talked hubby int filing iu. He needs to file for sleep apnea too. But the dr that did the sleep study has retired. And his records were supposed to be sent to family dr. Nope. Local hospital ha some of them. But I'm not sure it is enough. Guess I will have to go see what they have. He retired in 2008 and has not worked since then. He has went down hill pretty fast. Is it going to matter that he is retired? He retired out of the coast guard in 92. Completely retired at 62. Will how much he makes have any effect on this. He gets his coast gaurd retirement. And 3 small retirements from police and sheriff department, after 92. And then of course va disability. Which is 80 now.. will any of that knock him out of iu. We would probably submit iu for around 2010, that is when he started having fainting problems, and had a blood clot in his lungs. I was just looking on ebenefits and see they approved a claim for neuropathy on the lower extremity right side 10 percent added , so he is 20 on that side. But they did not approve the other side. At least according to ebenefits. Nothing extra for his hearing. But I pulled up the nots from the c and p. And on bothe sides for the neuropathy, it ask if this effects him being able to work and the examiner checked yes. Of of course the appeal he has in, his drs checked yes on dbq. So will that be in his favor? He really has a problem walking sometimes, his feet hurt so bad. Says his toe feels like sausages. You know I saw where an 80 something yr old filed for iu. And got turned down! He was a world world ll vet. What a slap in the face. Why would they turn him down! i know I have said this in the past, but I value all of your advice.

Spider-Man, my hubby has valvular disease. Had had his aortic valve replaced in sept of 13. He had aortic stenosis too. He had ther vavlves,but two were fused together. The doctors are hearing the murmur again. He put a claim in, in 2010 as secondary to diabetes. It was denied. I have found new info they have come out saying that it is connected to diabetes. Even some other claims that have been approved. So I'm going to take info to his private cards and the surgeon, and see if they can write something up so I can reopen this claim. Did they approve your claim for valvular disease right off. Or did you have to wait until you had to have surgery? Do you have trouble or pain when you bend over? My hubby does.

Broncovet, may I ask what your hearing disability percentage is? And anyone else willing to share. My husband was in Vietnam and he is very hard of hearing. He finally got hearing aids now. But honestly they do not help unless your setting right in the room with him. I know he had some kind of fungus in his ears in Vietnam. He has had two surgerys on his hears. And this is the biggie. In 2002 he put in for a job with tsa and failed the hearing test. He had to get a waiver from the va to get hired. He just put in for an increase for hearing and at the same time an increase for neuropathy in his legs. They approved 10 for the right leg and nothing for the left? That was on ebenefits under disabilties. And he did not get increase for hearing at all. He gets 10%. He would have been better off if he had filed iu back in 02.

Okemos, How long have your eyes been that way? Have they done mris and a spinal tap? My daughter had that and hers were crossed and had double vision for about six months. We end up finding out she has ms. She had a horse kick her in the head yrs ago. Don't know if that what caused it or not. Hope you can get it straightened out for you. Make them keep checking and if they can not, see if they can send you to a private specialist. My daughter ended up getting hers back, but her private doc sent her to a pediatrician eye dr.

Persistance, thank you for sharing. He has an appt tomorrow with the. And I will be looking in to a diabetic specialist. He is on Lantas solar star U100. And humalog fast acting U100. His a1c was 8.2. He takes 75 units of the Lantas solar star a day.

Persistance, did the insulin pump control his diabetes any better. I'm asking because my husband is diabetic also. His a1c was 8.2 . And you said it is a strong insulin. Did ever drop his sugar really low. That is how my husbands is up and down. He also has the kidney failure and ihd. He has his aortic valve replace. Had aortic stenosis with it. H has an appeal in now for the increase in diabetes. And the kidney failure stage. And we are going to file again for the aortic valve stenosis as soon has I can take new research Dow to his cardiac and get him to agree to it. They can hear the murmur again with his heart.i sure hate having to deal with va and their slowness. Good luck to you on your husbands claims etc. and I'm very sorry for your loss. It is bad enough for us having to grieve, then fight for everything. I'm trying to keep everything to gather so I don't have to go digging for papers when I need them.

I totally agree with you on that. My husband is falling apart body wise. Db2 heart disease, all the neuropathy in legs and feet, kidney disease although it is with bva on appeal, as well as increase in diabetes. Can not hear anything with hearing aids, but you still have to be right in the room with him. I don't think has them turned up enough. And he will not put in for iu or ptsd, which I'm sure he has. Know exactly how you feel. I've been getting really frustrated with him to the point I have shingles now. Not bad though, I did get the vaccine about 4 yrs ago,but this is my second time getting them since then. I just break out in a few little spots. It just stings a little. All of you should get tag vacine. He is going to get it. With our tricare it is free.

Convalesce is when you have had like major surgery, right. But it hhas to be for sc? Should my husband have put in for it, even if it was not surgery for sc. they did find his cars during pre op. But they did not do anything for cads yet. congradulations on yours DD_carter.

My husband put in a claim for ihd/aortic valve stenosis secondary to diabetes, in 2009. It was denied. I have been doing some research and in 2012, they did test on people with diabetes and aortic stenosis. And they found they produce a protein that enhances inflammation that causes a greater risk of stenosis of the aortic valve much worse and faster, than someone with out diabetes. My husband had surgery to replace the valve in 13. Now his cardio doc says they can hear the murmur again. My question is should we reopen that claim, file a new one etc. I know sometimes the va makes you feel like your trying to dig up everything. And it says it can cause more thrombosis activity. He did have an embolism in the lungs in 2011, which they could not determine where it came from. The doctor did say it went thru the heart. He really had a lot more fainting like spells, dizziness and falling, before he had surgery. He still has them, but I don't think it is as bad. But if the mur mur is back, it worries me. He says he will not be operated on again for his heart. He try's to mow the yard. Our yard has a hill in the back. I think they did this to be able to get more houses in here. He was mowing a small section that can not be mowed with riding mower. I always watch him, when he is doing it. Well he fell and rolled down the hill. Scared me to death. Had to run out help him get up and set in a chair till he felt able to finish it.

Ok he has to file the claim for th iu? Or can he have the Vso in dc to point out the dr is saying he is not able to work, would the consider it with the appeal. I did get him to let the appeal for increase in diabetes go thru. But she has convinced him that it is hard to get iu. Or maybe he thinks he is asking for something he does not deserve. Going thru joint ambulatory care doc.it ask on the form if the veterans heart condition impact his or her ability to work. Examiner checked yes. In remarks he put. Can only do sedentary work. Condition not bad enough to require intervention. His mets were 70 and the 30 % is due to his due valvular heart disease. He did have a valve put in.and of course his private doc said it did impact his ability to work. I going to see what info I can get from his surgeon.

Congradulations! Navy4life! Enjoy the keys. My hubby was in the navy in 67 and 68. Break in service for 8 yrs. (poliice offer). Then went back in to the coast guard for 16 yrs. his first duty station in guard was key west. We loved it. We were there a total of two duty tours 5 yrs altogether. I worked at navy key west in civil service. Enjoy it!

Buck our family dr did on the dbq of the original claim, he stated hubby was not able to work. And then again in the letter he wrote for him. i wonder if they will award the iu even thou he did not really file for it. But I think Broncovet is right on. And if they award the 60 percent for diabetic nephropathy, which I believe is right for third stage. And the 20 percent for diabetes increase, that might put him up to 96. So will they have to pay him at 100. And he also put in for increase in hearing. Hey he did get a really nice pair of hearing aids from va! He is also putting in for sleep apnea. But how long does it take to get iu, she lead him to believe it was hard to get and took a long time. I have seen people say on here they got it in a couple of months. Thanks guys for your advice. Ok guys, need advice. The hot line called back and the guy told hubby to file iu. He has an appeal in for increase for diabetes. And appeal on diabetic nephropathy. Nod was filed in nov of 12. Dockett is 1502319. So he went to see girl at eglin va(American legend). She is telling him to drop the increase in diabetes on the appeal at bva, and file another claim for increase in diabetes at local ro. They are the butts that denied it in first place. Most of any new evidence was pertaining to diabetic nephropathy labs. And both family doc and nephrologist wrote really nice letters. In fact the family doc put in his letter that he is not able to work do his diabetes and all the complications it causes. So the girl at eglin American legend wants him to file for increase in neuropathy also, and file a claim for sleep apnea. Yes he is boots on ground Vietnam vet. He is also turning 72 in aug. so what are your thoughts on dropping the appeal for increase at bva and filing new claim. She thinks it will go thru faster. Will it impact it in any way. She discouraged him from filling for iu. She said that takes too long. But why would someone from hot line tell him to do it. Who the heck do we trust to have his best interest at heart. He has an appt with orto doc Friday. He had an episode with really bad crippling pain in his right leg that he complained with for about four days. He even had to use my walker, that I used when I had knee replacement. How hard and how quick do they usually approve sleep apnea if you are on a cpap.my husband has had one for about 7 yrs, but he has never put in for it. I have another question. What does fdc mean?

L, ok your saying you were awarded on dec of 16. But they back dated it? May I ask why they back dated it? I'm thinking about contacting the Vso in D.C. With some of these questions. Ok guys have a question. We got call back from hot line. My husband told them they should not put the 270 day limit for appeals, because it is always more than that. He complained about getting treated in appropriately when you call the va and it is always the same answer. You just have to wait wait wait. He told them they are just waiting for the older vets to die. But, he did ask if he was working, hubby told him he retired because he was no longer able to work. He told my husband to file for tdiu. He does have ihd rated at 60 and his diabetes is 20, and there are other things like the neuropathy etc. and hearing. He has the appeal in now for increase in diabetes and for stage 3 diabetic nephropathy. And our family doctor stated in his dbq that he is unable to work. But he did not file for tdiu. If he files now how will it work. I could not hear what the gentlemen was saying, and hubby is hard of hearing, but he said, if he filed for it he would start getting it now. But will they look at what th dr. Stated on the dbq. I was reading that they treated it like an increase of your other disabilities. Going to go back and read this all again.

Is Berta I see where you said you filed a claim after your husbands death saying. AO dbll contributing to death and AO ihd contouring to death. Did you file tw different claims? And would it have to state something like this on his death certificate? also something else you may be able to give some insight on. My nephew was born in Korea. They were close to the dmz. He now has soft tissue carcinoma of the larynx, lung cancer, and I believe he also has liver cancer. Would he be able to file a claim ? And his mom has really bad diabetes ll. And is the any other diseases, that childern of veterans, that could be linked to AO. My daughter has ms. She was dignoised when she was 32. No one in our family has it.
