After reading many complaints about construction cost overun and overbudget maladies I would like to suggest an Idea that would help solve several issues and make things better. My 1st SGT used to always say," it does no good to gripe unless you have a suggestion to do things a better way." Ok , most VA employees are scheduled to arrive around the same time, early in the morning of course with some exceptions. Once they park they are there all day. It would make alot more sense if the VA worked with the local communities and lease unused parking areas from them, and establish a park and ride, with hourly shuttle service. This would help eliminate overages that are…

Just saw on the news that an active shooter was present at the El Paso VAMC. No further details were available at this time.

Not sure if this is the place to navigate but: A few months ago I went to a follow-up appointment for a newly-diagnosed physical condition with a new primary care doc who had been at the VAMC only a few months or so. I was explaining or asking about something at one point when my 100 percent total and permanent VA-compensated mental condition (anxiety/depression) kicked in and I started to stutter and/or hesitate. The doc basically told me to "get on with it" and that he couldn't help me if I didn't "spit it out". At this point, a potential meltdown began inside me because I generally don't like smart-asses but I held it together with my wife, as often happens, containin…

Well I really did it a few weeks ago....I am s/c for my eating disorder and once again I fainted b/c of it but this time I did it really good.... I feel on the concrete and hit my jaw/face/mouth - causing damage to my front teeth. I went to the VA ER and was seen - almost admitted but allowed to go home after they got me stable and got my blood levels where they wanted me. Since I am S/C for my Anorexia Nervosa I thought to ask about getting my teeth fixed due to the reason they were damaged was b/c of my eating disorder. I put in a secure message to my PCP last week and just got the consult to dental! So if I do get my teeth fixed it will save me thousands u…

This is mostly venting, but I bet I am not the only person who went through this: Background: About six months ago I asked the VAMC PCP for an MRI referral. I needed to schedule some cervical and lumbar pain blocks and the docs needed to know which vertebral levels to inject. After a nightmare dealing with a moron PCP the VAMC, I got the first MRI three months later, but only for lumbar. I switched PCP docs. Now: After seeing my new PCP, I was told they would schedule me for the other MRI. After three months, I never was called or received an appointment letter in the mail. I called the PCP nurse and was told I needed to come back and see the doc before having t…

I complained to patient advocate, my PCP and to "Bob" and my congressman about being denied PT at the VA. I also asked for an OT and slip and fall consult. I was trying to get a grant to get my bathroom modified among other things. The reason I want the grant is obvious. Now the VA is calling me both night and day trying to BS me in to shutting up with dumb ideas. I tried to get PT from outside source rather than the VA and the PT guy would not even consider my needing PT because I did not have acute injury. I am sorry I even asked for anything from these jerks because they continue to make dumb suggestions. I resent be just dismissed by some clerk when I ask for…

My PCP referred me for PT evaluation a few days ago. I went to walk-in PT clinic out there at PCA on Hidden River Road in Tampa. I was denied PT. The jerk said PT was just for those recovering from acute injuries and not for guys like me with bad back, bad feet and shoulder and neck pain. He told me to join YMCA and to just not worry about my feet since I have PN and soon my feet will be numb and I won't feel pain. I emailed "Bob" and told him I thought I was treated like a dog. I also sent form to my congressman reminding her of the New VA where disabled vets are treated with respect and not brushed off like pesky flies. The more I deal with the VA the more I hate t…

Hi Everyone, Thanks for taking the time to read this. I am at the end of my line again with VA healthcare and I'm just wondering if I have any options. I don't know how I get myself into these messes but I seem to do a good job of it. Okay so I am 100% P&T. I'm 94% on the schedule and have had TDIU since 2009. My main SC disability is my back / leg issues / pain. I am currently rated 40% Ortho, 40% left leg nerve issue, and 20% right leg nerve issue. Not sure if it matters but I am 50% mental, 30% asthma and a bunch of 10%s. I had two unsuccessful back surgeries L3-4 L4-5 disectomy (2000) and L3-4 L4-5 L5-S1 fusion with titanium cages (2009). I had a…

Anybody know what appointment for "PHARM CLINICAL PRIME" means? The pharmacy recently did cancel my anti-depressants but apparently the doc didn't get the word to write the prescription differently and I ended up at the ER circling despair and they are suppose to checking on what happened. I can't figure out Pharm Clinical Prime but I don't like the sound of it.

My VAMC here in Bath NY got a very good report from the VA OIG recently during an inspection of this facility. This is not a large VAMC but does have a DOM and a CLC . It has changed a lot in the past 20 years and probably still gets an annual award for being the cleanest VAMC in the USA. The complex surrounds a lawn area with many benches and is always well manicured and there is also a green house and a rose garden. I was a patient there overnight once and felt the treatment I got was superb. I never hear complaints from vets when I am there ...anymore....I used to long ago. I went to the POW MIA service there 2 weeks ago. 8 former POWS and their f…

Found this on a side link after logging into www.myhealth.va.gov and felt those of you who take tramadol-related meds might need to be made aware of this: http://www.pbm.va.gov/PBM/clinicalguidance/patientletters/Tramadol_C_IV_Patient_Letter_for_MHV_FINAL_2018_08_15.pdf
