  1. SSDI is what I applied for. My mom got a questionnaire as well so I'm sure my VA doc did as well.
  2. Travel pay is a great benefit that lots of people ignore.
  3. From the SSA pamphlet on Representative Payees "Your payee receives your monthly benefits and must use the money to pay for your current needs...Your payee must also report regularly to Social Security" "If you do not agree that you need a payee...write to Social Security within 60 days to appeal that decision." Www.socialsecurity.gov/payee
  4. I was worried cause I saw somewhere that if you got the questionnaire that meant they were following you with a Private Eye. PTSD paranoia strikes again.
  5. Thanks. Called 3 lawyers none interested in taking case. Will try one more lawyer then go on my own.
  6. I received a big package from Social Security today. It's titled Social Security disability determination. Anyone have advice/experience on filling this out. It's making me paranoid is this normal?
  7. My mo. Did a letter for me. I say better to do it than not.
  8. Psychiatrists in my experience just diagnose and give meds. Social Workers, Psychologists, and Counselors listen more. I reccomend you hang out at hadit.com for a while before filing. Get well and good luck.
  9. I downplayed PTSD as well. I opened up over time. What I was honest about was not wanting to be a lazy loser getting government money. You are not alone in this.. .one thing make sure you feel comfortable talking to your therapist.
  10. File for physical problems that can be linked but I dont know about mental problems.
  11. If you have dissociative symptoms you should be rated higher than 50% I would think
  12. Excellent info. The one thing I wish I could find were the actual percentages of reductions and terminations but this thread is what I've been looking for for a long time
  13. For Military Sexual Trauma and combat PTSD they have made it easier but for your type of claim I think they still have the old standard
  14. I decided to wait for an inpatient program. I can't imagine going through a CPT or PE session and then driving home.
  15. Most employees at the VA are pro-veteran and are very aware that what they write effects service-connection. Be careful about trying to manipulate VA employees into writing what you want in the records though they deal with this all the time and I'm sure they can spot people trying to manipulate them.
  16. I go to VA Physical Therapy for lower back pain.
  17. I experienced a really bad trauma after military service and they said it aggravated my already existing PTSD.
  18. Ahhh the waiting process.....I'm right there with you
  19. If you don't feel comfortable at the VA get an outside opinion.
  20. Good question. Haven't heard that it does.
  21. The VA provides compensation and care to children of Vietnam vets exposed to Agent Orange if born with Spina Bifida or "certain" other conditions. The other conditions I haven't been able to find out
