I went to the MH doctor today for a discussion about my medicine. I am currently on fluoxetine for my anxiety/eating disorder/PTSD-MST but the med's are making me dizzy so today she changed me to Zoloft. Has anyone else had success with Zoloft?

Is anyone taking any PTSD,depression, anxiety etc. drugs that are helping.I know most of the meds out there are used to treat many disorders.I been on so many throughout the years, but none ever helped me and gave me bad side effects.A few years ago the VA put me on Effexor.I felt I was doing okay on this med, until I was told by my wife,it's really not normal to be scrubbing the floors at 3 in the morning.I was recently told I should consider going back on meds, but I am so scared because of my past experiences.Phychiatry to me is a soft science,I been to so many of them and it was like they basically threw a dart at a dart board,ok let's try this one.Any feedback would be g…

Does anyone have any experience with the Drug treatment program at VA? My son has been struggling with a opiate addiction and has been on the program here in California and in Ohio. He has been on a Suboxone maintence program for 13 months. They have done some things that are crappy.. a month ago someone from the clinic called him in to do a pill count.. When he did not come because he had a emergency with his child he was told next time he messed up he would be kicked off. Last week because he would not urinate in front of the nurse they made him take blood. His urine test came out clean and only showed suboxone. He sent a letter of complaint to Carolyn Cla…

I recently (3 weeks ago) fractured my fibula and a bone in my ankle walking in my driveway on my relatively good leg. I called to ask to get into the doctor because I have taken extra pain medication and wondered if they would make an exception to give me a temporary increase. The doctor chewed me a new one and told me I should have been taking my medicine as prescribed and told me to go to another facility if I feel that I need more pain medication. She said that since I went to the local med check that is 5 minutes away instead of the VA which is 1 hour and 30 minutes away that I can find pain medicine on my own. She made me feel like such a freaking druggie on the phon…

I am not sure, but after checking with MyhealthyVet the VA in its wisdom may have cut me off my pain meds with no warning at all. I don't see anything regarding my oxycodone and Fentanyl at all. They are not even listed. If they have done this I will sue them I swear. If it is just the usual incompetence I am going to go find private pain doctor unless it is just a screw up because of getting new doctor. I will be in my congressman's office. Usually, it will show my pain meds and it will just list them as "No Refills" but it still lists them. This time they are not listed and when I check history it says expired. I know it is dangerous to just cut a guy off after…

In Part: "Four more veterans died under suspicious circumstances than previously reported at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs hospital in Tomah, Wisconsin, under the leadership of its chief of staff, psychiatrist Dr. David Houlihan. The deaths, revealed in a rare congressional field hearing today in the small Wisconsin town, bring to 33 the number of unexpected deaths The Center for Investigative Reporting has found occurred during Houlihan’s decade at the helm. The medical center became known as “Candy Land” for the ease with which narcotic painkillers were prescribed." http://www.revealnews.org/article/congressional-hearing-reveals-4-more-deaths-at-tomah-wisc…

Dear Fellow Vets: Many of us have taken or now take opiates for pain relief. We know they do not work long-term; we know they cause injury and death. We know we will be treated like drug addicts and criminals if we complain about opiates being taken away. Trying to get free from this drug-induced madness, we look for alternates. Are there any? Yes, thanks to the cannabis plant. Here's an excerpt from an article describing the decrease in deaths from opiates (please read entire article and reply if you'd like to discuss this): http://healthimpactnews.com/2014/marijuana-decreases-death-rates-from-pain-killers-by-over-30-percent/ A recent study has r…

In hopes that this is the correct site, and this is the correct forum, upon permission from the site moderator I will post the tactics, methods, and stratagems that I have employed after being incorrectly labelled, and with malicious intent, a Category One Violent and Disruptive Patient. Commonly known as a Patient Record Flag (PRF). I have made extensive use of the Privacy Act of 1974, and the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), and stand ready to present the official documents verifying what you will not believe without documentation. You just will not believe it. The PRF in my case was originally issued by the Manager of the Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC)…

I had my C & P on April 6 and they wanted to commit me to the hospital until I got on meds and they got them worked out. Short story is I have no social contact other then when I go to the doctors because I feel I am dangerous. Any confrontation and I fear I would loose what is left of my sanity and harm others. This scares me but have been avoiding taking medication but the last week has been much more stressful so am now willing to begin taking meds. My issue is I do not want the VA to send me the meds in the mail or get the meds at a VA/gov location. I do not trust them and likely wont take them if that is the only source. Question: Can I get prescrib…

I'm a journalist doing investigative reporting for Huffington Post and a book on issues related to mental health care. Because I'm still querying VA spokesmen and insiders, I'm not posting my full name and publication here, but I'll forward all my contact details and information and publications to anyone interested in speaking to me on or off the record. I'm looking into needless, preventable deaths or other major harm caused by overmedication due to psychotropic drugs, especially Seroquel. I'm also interested after the VA Phoenix scandal, how long waits are now for mental health therapy services, and is over-medication still widely practiced? I'm looking for recent exa…
